Another great outing wasted. How many times has this guy lost 1-0 or 2-1. He’s now 2-2 this year with an ERA of 0.51. Also at what point do the Mets change hitting coaches or move on from Rojas? Too much talent to be below .500.

Only McNeil's was really hit hard.

It's past the point of absurd at this point. Mets putting 3rd and 4th starters on other teams in the Hall of Fame right now. It seems they have no clue or gameplan on dealing with these pitchers.

Most of them look like they're trying to hit homeruns right now. Lindor, McNeil especially.

Staring at 2 strike fastballs in the zone, which happened way too often tonight, really irks me.

You have a whole lineup that seems to be pressing right now. And a fucking day off again tomorrow. FFS. I think I heard Ron or Keith say this is the last day off in awhile, though, so hopefully the weather doesn't spoil that.

but they chose instead to lose two games to the Red Sox by the scores of 2-1 and 1-0. Good grief!

Dude, you sell lousy hi-fi equipment at a mall, wear a nametag and brought a 15 year old to girl to a little league dugout to hook up. Weirdo.

The stats beg to differ:

Mets runs per game: 3.17; 29th in baseball, league average is 4.28

15 HRs, good for last in baseball (3 behind anyone else)... with a lineup that has 1 40 HR guy (Pete), 2 30 HR guys (Lindor/Conforto), and 3 20 HR guys (Dom, McNeil, JD)

Last in baseball in BA with RISP

Just to add some context...
moze1021 : 4/29/2021 7:16 am : link
Mets entire team is on pace for ~120 HRs...

Pete, Lindor, and Conforto should be on pace for something close to that themselves!
he's the modern day Seaver in this regard.

It was pretty

cool that they honored Jerry Blevins who was sitting in the stands with his family.
Serious question
Matt M. : 4/29/2021 8:55 am : link
Is there another example, in my lifetime (born in 1972) of a guy this supremely talented on the hill with so little support year after year? How do you have an ERA of HALF A RUN and go 2-2.

And I am not talking about a good pitcher with some hard luck. I'm talking about a dominant, best pitcher in the game guy who can barely scratch double digit wins because of his a anemic O and shaky pen every single year.
As a lifelong Mets fan...
BamaBlue : 4/29/2021 8:59 am : link
we should be used to this annual kick in the nards. With the exception of two magical seasons ('69 and '86), the Mets have found a way to crush their fans spirits. This year promised to be the perfect blend of superb pitching, adequate defense and excellent offense. I know it's early, but we've been here before haven't we...?

Only one pitcher since at least 1901 has struck out 50+ batters while allowing no more than 2 earned runs in their first five appearances of a season:

Felix Hernandez on Seattle.
DeGrom's rankings since 2018...
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/29/2021 10:43 am : link
1st in fWAR (by a significant margin)
1st in Innings Pitched
1st in ERA
2nd in Strikeouts

29th in Wins (27-21 record)

It's a shame how often the Mets are wasting his greatness over these last couple of seasons. He should have atleast another dozen wins.

Sox fans are glad for the wins, shocked by the pitching, scared about their hitting, and glad they escaped with at least 1 win.

Brett Baty on Matt Allan: "98 up in the zone but it plays like 102."

They're also roommates in Port St. Lucie right now. #Mets

I asked Brett Baty, one of the Mets’ top prospects, how Matt Allan — the organization’s top pitching prospect — compares to some of the big-league pitchers Baty faced in camp.

“He’s not far off,” Baty said.
