I can;t say he doesn't care, but regardless, how can you bench a player when you carry 13 pitchers and one of your position players is a full time DH? Modern MLB roster construction doesn;t allow for quality depth.

You can make excuses for his at bats but you can't make excuses for his effort. He jogs to ball in the outfield with no sense of urgency. It's completely inexcusable . When Torres didn't run hard to 1st base he got killed , this is the same thing except it's defensively and Hicks does it all the time.
As far as benching him, Play Gardner more, Play Wade more, Bring up Florial etc . He doesn't deserve to play right now
