Smith surpassed those expectations well before Waddle went down with injury. His route running is elite. Though his speed is not, many of the top receivers of all time were better route runners than speedsters.
Smith is easily a top 5 player in this draft and should be the pick if available. Waddle is also clearly top 10. Both are tiers above any of the edge players this year, and also above the offensive linemen except Sewell. Take the best player.
