Had at least 2 WRs higher than him.

I guess he had fewer red flags than Parsons...?

Per Sy...

There are some teams that have Toney in the top 5 according to one of the very few media resources I trust and speak with. That really surprises me. I won’t give details here but there are a few serious red flags with character, and I just don’t see Toney having a high ceiling.

Let me bold this above...
Love the trade back
GiantsLaw : 4/29/2021 10:50 pm : link
Don’t love the pick. Hope I’m wrong. Welcome to the Giants!
Don't

We have a speedster with suspect hands in John Ross already?
red flags for toney

so people can't say it wasn't known like in the case of deandre baker

We have our Curtis Samuel.

And LOVE the high #1 next year Fields will give us.

That’s a very good comp.

Good explosion out of routes and cuts. Can run jet sweeps. Twitchy and can burn. The hands and drops scare me a bit but he’s not like butter hands Engram.

Suggests good chance both Engram and Shepard are gone after next season to me.

Disagree. He's more physical than that. He's much more of slot guy than a speed guy.

Just three dropped passes charted on 123 catchable passes in his Florida career, per PFF
Ok

Woman in red wig and pink bodysuit certainly agrees with the pick!
Welcome KT!
trueblueinpw : 4/29/2021 10:51 pm : link
I love the trade back and while I would have gone JOK as the BPA here I totally get the need for weapons for Jones. Gotta be honest, my opinion of the old man goes up tonight, not down.

Welcome to Big Blue Kadarius Toney!

loooooooove it!

Was so disappointed when Philly got Smith, but I'm super pleased with the way things have played out so far.

Usually I'm iffy on the Giants' 1st pick and need to be talked into it. This time I'm in from the jump
erases any doubt that Smith or Waddle
bluepepper : 4/29/2021 10:51 pm : link
was the choice at 11 if they were available. Like somebody says it has a "poor man's" feel to it. But you never know maybe the Bama guys were overhyped and this kid will be just as good or better.
Where's Milton!???
adamg : 4/29/2021 10:51 pm : link
We did it baby!!!
Don't know a whole lot about him
Stu11 : 4/29/2021 10:51 pm : link
But he sure looks fast. Surprised they didn't go D there but not complaining. Wouldn't be drafting too many defenders from "the U" after seeing him run through about 8 of them in that one clip lol.
Use him
Giantophile : 4/29/2021 10:51 pm : link
Wisely and he's a threat on the level of waddle. He carries some low floor potential but he could be a really dynamic weapon.
This guy is dynamic
jpkmets : 4/29/2021 10:51 pm : link
Gonna make hay on crossing and seams.

Really pleased wit this night. Just a great round 1 for Giants between the bears #1 and another playmaker to complement Golloday and Saquon.

This is the year to decide in Jones. He’s got an oline that gelled and now has a seriously upgraded set of weapons.

Hopefully he makes the leap. If he doesn’t, the Bears pick is super ammo to reload QB.
They Must Have Been OK...
Jim in Tampa : 4/29/2021 10:51 pm : link
With his character. Here's hoping he turns out to be a better player than D Smith.
Not
AcidTest : 4/29/2021 10:51 pm : link
a fan. Some character concerns, as well as route running and awareness issues. Boom/bust potential. They wanted someone who resembled Smith, but this guy is much too big a risk for #20 IMO. Surprised they did this after the Baker debacle.
He was considered wr 4 or 5 by most rankings
SirYesSir : 4/29/2021 10:51 pm : link
up until a few weeks ago. Not sure what changed that dropped him a little, but he's super good. it's not a bad pick
Hood on in his own house

What the heck are we doing?
Toney sucks, We got stuck with the fat girl left at
MartyNJ1969 : 4/29/2021 10:52 pm : link
The party, no way toney worth first rd pick
Seems like a panic pick
Dang Man : 4/29/2021 10:52 pm : link
Could they not have gotten better value at 20 and taken Toney, or a similarly graded player, at 42?
I'd compare him to Jarvis Landry
adamg : 4/29/2021 10:52 pm : link
.
should compliment Golladay well
UConn4523 : 4/29/2021 10:52 pm : link
and allows us to free up cap by cutting Shepard in 2022. Maybe has a nice effect on Slayton too. And then there's punt returns.
Was my least favorite of the top wrs
Jim in Forest Hills : 4/29/2021 10:52 pm : link
I see Anthony Miller when I watch him play. Quick but not really fast.

Hope he’s the goods.
Sy will not like the pick
nyjuggernaut2 : 4/29/2021 10:52 pm : link
wasn't even in his top 10

This, his 14th!! Some red flag character concerns. His film just shown is herky jerky. A lot of bigger, higher rated WRs were on the board.
?????

of the pick but I’ll wait and see what he can do and what the Giants can do with him. Worried about his hands, durability and his ceiling.
Sickening. This is a remote thrower for me.
Giants Fan in Steelers Land : 4/29/2021 10:52 pm : link
Worst 1st round pick I can remember for the giants. Hope I couldn’t be more wrong.
Lmao... seriously????
prdave73 : 4/29/2021 10:53 pm : link
Wow with Elijah Moore who I think might be the 3rd best WR in this draft?!?! Also their highest need is edge?? Only the Giants.. DG at its best.. lol
...
ryanmkeane : 4/29/2021 10:53 pm : link
Wow. Just did not think he would be on NYG radar. It’s clear that the edge guys are slipping a bit.

This is a true surprise pick. He’s insanely athletic and talented, just didn’t think he’d be an option. I’m all aboard but man, still kinda shocked.
His cutting ability
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 4/29/2021 10:53 pm : link
Is more Saquon Barkley than anyone in the draft since. He’s special at cutting and exploding. But his speed isn’t even great and he doesn’t play as strong as you’d like.

Still think he could a be guy who Jones relies on for a lot of short throws. Weird pick like I said before but really interesting.
PSY has him as a third rd pick.

I think he has great slot potential. Reminds me of Jarvis Landry a little. Could be a monster catch guy like Welker/Edelman/Landry.

But a weird player for sure. Really interesting pick

Kind of a Percy Harvin type

MookGiants : 4/29/2021 10:54 pm : link
his explosion, especially out of cuts, is terrific. Giants need dynamic players at WR. This guy has a chance to be that.

He should be able to step right in and play the slot.

Shep is likely gone after this season. Hopefully Slayton develops into a reliable outside weapon and he, Golladay and Toney are a great group.

It is incredibly important to have weapons this year for Jones. Hopefully the answer to the "is Jones a franchise quarterback" is answered with a yes after the 2021 season, but even if it's a no the most important thing is it's answered one way or the other. This guy should start from day 1 out of the slot and be able to make plays.

If Jones can't show he's a franchise QB this year with the weapons they now have, then they need to look for another QB next off-season
I don't know who you blame for this

Yeah. Don’t get it. And a lot of injuries. They could have taken Moore and not gotten the baggage.
Fine with the WR

He was Boylhart's top rated receiver...
Quote:
Kadarius is an offensive weapon. His size, vision, lateral explosion make him unique. Add to that, his natural strength, speed, and eye/hand coordination and you have an offensive weapon who is a match-up nightmare for any defensive back. When he is one on one in the open field he is near impossible to bring down after he catches the ball. He has the strength of a running back with the skills to catch the ball and run the routes of a wide receiver. Kadarius has a high football IQ and he is still learning. He doesn’t take the big hit when you go to tackle him because I swear, he can move his eyes 360 degrees like a chameleon. In the open field, he has the speed and route-running ability to score. In the red zone, he has the quickness to run any route and get open to score. On special teams, he has the sure hands and quickness to make the first man miss and the speed to bring it to the house.
