They are getting shut out...OMG, what a shocker!

Oh, and the two runs they gave up were on a dropped third strike with the pitcher hitting...both runs, not making this up.

They've scored more than two runs in an inning three times this year. In 170 innings on offense

Can we get rid of the manager yet?

Yeah, I'm frustrated, and I have 16 games worth of tix to watch this garbage to look forward to beginning in May
Rojas needs to go
nygfaninorlando : 4/30/2021 8:46 pm : link
Need someone who will motivate and light a fire under this team. Too much take to be going thru the motions.
Yea they really
HoodieGelo : 4/30/2021 8:50 pm : link
Do need to get rid of Rojas. This is a really sloppy team. Davis needs to go too.
Gota feeling
Jerry from Maine : 4/30/2021 8:51 pm : link
Chilly Davis will get the axle first. I'm watching the Mets on my tablet and the draft.
This offense just flat out sucks right now.
CooperDash : 4/30/2021 9:09 pm : link
Cant even get a run in from second on a base hit. Like, the most basic shit every team does.

Can’t wait to see the Mets string together a couple of good wins in about a MONTH and have the usual suspect pop back in to say “I told you they’d get it going! It was just to cold outside. Brrrrrr.”
I'm confused.
DonQuixote : 4/30/2021 9:22 pm : link
It's a 2-1 game in the 6th but the OP just had to post how we are being shut out. Can't we at least wait until they actually lose?

And ruin all the fun? This team suuuuuucks.

Hope Chili Davis enjoyed his year off. Hope he goes back there soon. He’s turned one of the best offenses in baseball to absolute shite.
My Bad!
dannysection 313 : 4/30/2021 9:34 pm : link
Francisco Lindor, ummmmmm.....

I could go "ofer" the season and only charge 200 million.

They all seem pretty relaxed though, which is a good thing, I suppose.

On a more serious note, they took out Stromman after 65 pitches and zero earned runs?
It’s a good thing that Dom Smith didn’t really fight the pitcher
CooperDash : 4/30/2021 10:15 pm : link
during that adorable scuffle. He probably would have swung and missed there too.

The Phillies are trash and have a lot to say this game...it would be nice to shut them up, but it’s the Mets lol.
Lindor’s contract will be a disaster
Vanzetti : 4/30/2021 10:18 pm : link
So stupid to sign a 114 OPs+ (last two years) when you bought yourself a year to decide.

And you basically send a message to Conforto and Thor that they are dogmeat

Sandy really needs to retire
What a bunch of pussies
CooperDash : 4/30/2021 10:28 pm : link
Rojas has done a stellar job with this club.
This is pathetic
moze1021 : 4/30/2021 10:29 pm : link

Absolutely pathetic

Lindor had his chance to turn it all around with one swing...and of course he pressed and didn't

Something needs to happen to shake something up.

stupid to blame Sandy...he's not the one not hitting.

The Covid delay to start season was disastrous and apparently they didn't do a good job managing it.
Lindor makes Jay Bay look good
Vanzetti : 4/30/2021 10:30 pm : link
What a disaster this is turning into

Stroman
pjcas18 : 4/30/2021 10:34 pm : link
had a muscle strain.

1 for 14 with RISP.

April wins mean just as much as September wins, the bats being cold is a disaster - wasting all this good pitching.

Bad comp... Beltran 2015 more relevant comp...and he never really recovered in eyes of casual fan even though he ended up being best CFer in team history...

Hopefully Lindor can turn it around and do what he came to do .. but it's not all on him. They would be fine if everyone else was hitting. I don't know if I've ever seen a team of proven hitters ALL get off to such a terrible start. Makes no sense.
this team
KDubbs : 4/30/2021 10:45 pm : link
are a bunch of pussies. that fat fuck disrespected them and they just took it. should've been a brawl but they dont give any fucke
This might be the game where I’m embarrassed to be a Mets fan
Knineteen : 4/30/2021 10:45 pm : link
Absolutely gutless display by everyone. Yeah, great job by Lindor and Rojas calming everything down. Get them with the bats, guys! Great fucking strategy.
This team blows
moespree : 4/30/2021 10:57 pm : link
Can't hit at all, the other team literally challenges them and they do nothing. And then go out weakly in the 9th.

This whole "wait until they play a lot of games in a row" nonsense is no longer relevant. They've played an entire month and half the lineup is on pace for their worst career seasons.

Reminds me of when Wright used to let Utley and the Phils do whatever they wanted with no repercussions...including trying to unsuccessfully break Ruben Tejada's leg (Utley would of course later succeed in his 2nd attempt as a member of the Dodgers)

Time and a place for class and calm...against Philly ain't it...

I heard some announcer
Carson53 : 5/1/2021 11:43 am : link
the other day (not a Mets announcer, another game)...
say that DeGrom in his last 81 starts, has a 1.99 ERA,
and only 27 wins in those starts.
As a non-Mets fan, all I can say is WOW!

I want Wally Backman. I’ve always wanted Wally Backman.
Sandy can take a hike.

Backman is a manager, Sandy is a GM.

And while Backman will always have a fond place in Mets lore, he seems like he's crazier than a shithouse rat.
This team...just can’t get the fuck out of its own way
CooperDash : 5/2/2021 7:39 pm : link
Wonder when this offense is going to wake up like the rest of the league already has?
Did they change the rule
MetsAreBack : 5/2/2021 7:41 pm : link
On catchers blocking the plate? Mets didn’t challenge and announcers didn’t say anything so I’ve become a casual fan last few years I’m sure I missed it.

Terrible decision to send him regardless.
Catchers can’t block the plate while waiting for the ball -
CooperDash : 5/2/2021 7:47 pm : link
they need to have possession of the ball in order to block the plate. It looks like the catcher just had his foot on the plate while waiting for the ball which is okay.

The Mets continued inability to get runners in from second on a hit is astounding.
This entire team looks like they are all trying to crush the ball
CooperDash : 5/2/2021 7:58 pm : link
I don’t know what Chili Davis is doing to help this club but it’s having the opposite affect on nearly the entire lineup.
Lindor shits the bed again - really tough to watch this team.
CooperDash : 5/2/2021 9:09 pm : link
I’m guessing that not too many people are interested either given the lack of interest in any thread Mets-related LOL

Totally expect the Mets to lose this game.
Well, that didn’t take long.
CooperDash : 5/2/2021 9:20 pm : link
So utterly predictable.
maybe this is the game that finally turns things
Eric on Li : 5/2/2021 10:18 pm : link
Conforto definitely heating up.
McNeil with a big hit.
Alonso with the clutch hit.
Villar/Pillar some energetic plays to get things going.

Lindor hasn't broken through yet but the defense is still great.
Huge huge inning...
Metnut : 5/2/2021 10:31 pm : link
Was fun to watch live. Hopefully it leads to the team heating up.

Diaz is out now
Eric on Li : 5/2/2021 10:56 pm : link
Familia to close it out I guess?
the manager
KDubbs : 5/2/2021 10:59 pm : link
should keep using Diaz in non save situations because his numbers are just soooo great in those situations
Diaz simply can’t
Stufftherun : 5/2/2021 10:59 pm : link
be trusted in almost any scenario and who can say they feel any better with Familia?
how many relievers can strike out harper twice with game on the line?
Eric on Li : 5/2/2021 11:05 pm : link
I know he's been terrible for 2 years but Familia looks right and if he's right there aren't more than a handful of better relievers in all baseball. And unlike Diaz when he's wrong it's usually not usually out of the park.

I feel pretty damn good about both of them.

Diaz was off...plain and simple. He's still elite.

And Familia is back. Anyone with eyes has to see that.

As long as you feel damn good I guess there’s nothing to be concerned with.
Diaz was good last year and had been good this year
Metnut : 5/2/2021 11:19 pm : link
I hope he’s not hurt after tonight. He’ll never justify the trade, or be the elite reliever we hoped, but he’s still a valuable bullpen piece and we’re better off with him available.

Familia looks a lot better this year. We were hoping one of him or Betances bounced back and it looks like we went 1/2 there.

I would agree that he’s looked better and to your point that he’ll “never be the elite reliever we hoped”, another poster claims that “he’s still elite”.

I still, like many, have flashbacks when he loses the strike zone, gets hit hard and leaves you holding your breath.

Diaz has always given up a lot of homers
Eric on Li : 5/2/2021 11:53 pm : link
he is a high velocity/high K FB pitcher, that's how it's gonna go.

that's one of the reasons why I think it merits serious consideration to deploy him and Familia strategically. Familia throws a variety of sinking pitches which have made him 1 of the bigger groundball relievers since entering MLB. And he's still good enough to get the big k too. When he's not walking the park.

Lugo is the best of the 3 when it comes to control.

None of them are perfect and all of them can be keys to how far this team goes.
