They are getting shut out...OMG, what a shocker!
Oh, and the two runs they gave up were on a dropped third strike with the pitcher hitting...both runs, not making this up.
They've scored more than two runs in an inning three times this year. In 170 innings on offense
Can we get rid of the manager yet?
Yeah, I'm frustrated, and I have 16 games worth of tix to watch this garbage to look forward to beginning in May
Can’t wait to see the Mets string together a couple of good wins in about a MONTH and have the usual suspect pop back in to say “I told you they’d get it going! It was just to cold outside. Brrrrrr.”
And ruin all the fun? This team suuuuuucks.
Hope Chili Davis enjoyed his year off. Hope he goes back there soon. He’s turned one of the best offenses in baseball to absolute shite.
I could go "ofer" the season and only charge 200 million.
They all seem pretty relaxed though, which is a good thing, I suppose.
On a more serious note, they took out Stromman after 65 pitches and zero earned runs?
The Phillies are trash and have a lot to say this game...it would be nice to shut them up, but it’s the Mets lol.
And you basically send a message to Conforto and Thor that they are dogmeat
Sandy really needs to retire
Absolutely pathetic
Lindor had his chance to turn it all around with one swing...and of course he pressed and didn't
Something needs to happen to shake something up.
stupid to blame Sandy...he's not the one not hitting.
The Covid delay to start season was disastrous and apparently they didn't do a good job managing it.
1 for 14 with RISP.
April wins mean just as much as September wins, the bats being cold is a disaster - wasting all this good pitching.
Bad comp... Beltran 2015 more relevant comp...and he never really recovered in eyes of casual fan even though he ended up being best CFer in team history...
Hopefully Lindor can turn it around and do what he came to do .. but it's not all on him. They would be fine if everyone else was hitting. I don't know if I've ever seen a team of proven hitters ALL get off to such a terrible start. Makes no sense.
This whole "wait until they play a lot of games in a row" nonsense is no longer relevant. They've played an entire month and half the lineup is on pace for their worst career seasons.
Reminds me of when Wright used to let Utley and the Phils do whatever they wanted with no repercussions...including trying to unsuccessfully break Ruben Tejada's leg (Utley would of course later succeed in his 2nd attempt as a member of the Dodgers)
Time and a place for class and calm...against Philly ain't it...

Mets top prospects are starting the MiLB season:
1. Álvarez - St. Lucie
2. Allan - Brooklyn
3. Mauricio - Brooklyn
4. Crow-Armstrong - St. Lucie
5. Baty - Brooklyn
6. Ginn - Rehab
7. Vientos - Binghamton
8. Lee - Syracuse
9. Dominguez - GCL
10. Ramirez - GCL
say that DeGrom in his last 81 starts, has a 1.99 ERA,
and only 27 wins in those starts.
As a non-Mets fan, all I can say is WOW!
Sandy can take a hike.
Sandy can take a hike.
Backman is a manager, Sandy is a GM.
And while Backman will always have a fond place in Mets lore, he seems like he's crazier than a shithouse rat.
Terrible decision to send him regardless.
The Mets continued inability to get runners in from second on a hit is astounding.
Totally expect the Mets to lose this game.
McNeil with a big hit.
Alonso with the clutch hit.
Villar/Pillar some energetic plays to get things going.
Lindor hasn't broken through yet but the defense is still great.
I feel pretty damn good about both of them.
Diaz was off...plain and simple. He's still elite.
And Familia is back. Anyone with eyes has to see that.

As long as you feel damn good I guess there’s nothing to be concerned with.
Familia looks a lot better this year. We were hoping one of him or Betances bounced back and it looks like we went 1/2 there.

I would agree that he’s looked better and to your point that he’ll “never be the elite reliever we hoped”, another poster claims that “he’s still elite”.
I still, like many, have flashbacks when he loses the strike zone, gets hit hard and leaves you holding your breath.
that's one of the reasons why I think it merits serious consideration to deploy him and Familia strategically. Familia throws a variety of sinking pitches which have made him 1 of the bigger groundball relievers since entering MLB. And he's still good enough to get the big k too. When he's not walking the park.
Lugo is the best of the 3 when it comes to control.
None of them are perfect and all of them can be keys to how far this team goes.
