We all know that one or more DBs are going to pull a hammy and miss a few games for this now 17 game season. Need the added depth back there that we did not have last season.
so building org depth is important there. This kid is nice value in the third.
All that being said, I really think we need to add a good OG going into next year. Maybe we can trade one of our extra 4ths next year to get back into 3rd and nab Wyatt Davis.
Really aggressive cover man that could project both in the slot and outside. Quick twitched, fast feet, and physical. Robinson plays like he truly hates his opponent each week. Gamer.
New York Giants: Aaron Robinson, CB, Central Florida - A+ Grade
The Giants added Adoree Jackson to James Bradberry, but they still needed one more cornerback. Aaron Robinson addresses that void, providing great value in the process. I've had Robinson in the first round of some of my updates, so I absolutely love this pick. Link - ( New Window )
11. Aaron Robinson, Central Florida (5-foot-11½, 188, 4.39, Round 2 or 3): Covered kicks at Alabama in 2016 before transferring to UCF and sitting out ’17. Missed six games with a concussion in 2018 before serving as the nickel back covering slot receivers the past two seasons.
“Best nickel defender in the draft,” one scout said. “He’s got everything you want. The thing that holds him back is the consistency of the instincts. Sometimes he gets sloppy.”
From Deerfield Beach, Fla., Robinson started 19 of 42 games for UCF, finishing with 109 tackles (7½ for loss), three picks and 21 PBUs.
“He’s got height and he runs well,” a second scout said. “He’s a little grabby and sort of duck-footed. I wouldn’t use the word awkward, though. He’s not super fluid, but he does have some explosion to him.”
Said a third scout: “They played him more as a slot in that off-ball safety position. He is tough as hell. He’s got short-area cover quickness and twitch. You don’t really want him on the outside covering, but as a slot-hybrid type of guy, he’s a really good player.”
I bet they'd love to cut Beal right here but they'll let him come to some of the offseason workouts. He's basically the guy at the end of the roster right now.
Robinson battled with Toney in senior bowl practices
Probably the most important unit to have depth in outside of OL, which nobody has depth at. If we're running a Pats-like defense, you need 3 corners that can play press when called upon. If they don't think Holmes is that guy or he needs competition, then that's a starting position that need reinforcement. I'd like an IOL as much as anybody, but this is definitely a need. There isn't much behind the guys we paid for and the slot guy we drafted last year.
After every game, look at the defensive snap counts. Guys not making the MNF video intros are outsnapping some of the guys that make that, they're in the secondary too.
Looks like he can contribute on KR coverage and PR coverage too
it really looks like the Giants are going off the value on their board w/ specific players in mind. They are collecting picks for 2022 which is a deeper draft (and will have the benefit of more rigorous scouting as things get back to a new normal). They aren't just drafting guys because that's where they are. This is an aggressiveness we haven't seen from the Giants in a very long time, if ever really. We will see if these guys actually pan out, but it seems like the Giants aren't making the same mistake as the past in picking the Cedric Jones, Erick Flowers, or Eli Apple because someone took their guy before and they just take anyone next. Have to credit Judge for this change in direction.

Holmes got several defensive holding penalties last year, a couple were killers that let opponents keep drives alive.
They can compete for the job, this is the NFL, no scholarships. CB is a need every year in the league now
Would have preferred an OL.

In today's NFL your defense is only as good as your worst CB on the field.
4/3.5? 4 divided by 3.5 is 1.14, so that's definitely fast. I'd say a 1.14 40 might even be a record!
6.88 3 cone
15x. Bench
Those are very good numbers
Strong fast and aggressive. What's not to like? lol

NFL network he ran a 4/3.5 40. That is real fast!

Haha, a CB who could run a 1.14 40 miight have even gone ahead of Trevor Lawrence.
You really need to look at the WRs in our division.

The draft isn’t over

Robinson is a substantial upgrade.
LOL
Theres no cure for dumb thoughts...
Judge left for a bathroom break and DG f'ed it up.
Ha, GREAT find!
We already have enough of those.
Thanks for playing. Can I call you Wal?

I think there’s a huge emphasis on coaching/development. Sale is a crucial hire.

Trading up for a 4th CB is more like it Dave. Next pick should be a back up for our long snapper because injuries happen.
You really need to look at the WRs in our division.
and get a grip, maybe some deep breathing, valium and/or a puppy.
This is not a trenches, run and stop the run team.

disagree -- it is both
This, but DG gets credit too

Yeah it looks like we've finally joined the 21st century. Reason for optimism, finally.
