I’m convinced some Giants fans...

Saquon'sQuadz : 4/30/2021 11:51 pm
will simply never be satisfied. All their targets were gone before 11 still wound up with an electric WR, an edge rusher some wanted as high as 11 at 50 and they have TEN picks including 5 in the first 3 rounds next year and some are still miserable

This draft could end up sucking, but right now it appears they got three really good players at need positions and a bunch of high picks for next year.

What does it take to be happy?

If they drafted an OL, these guys would be bitching about edge rusher.

Picks will take time to judge. Like always. Ammunition built up in what should be a strong draft.

Smart moves. Love to see it

I’m as cynical as they come after the last few year but between free agency and the start of the draft the giants have done an exceptional job. There were question marks all over... now? Questions at O line sure but TE CB WR DE have all been addressed. People love to complain. Fine me a single roster without a weak or questionable unit? They don’t exist

Also as bad as the line was at times last season we still have to play Thomas for obvious reasons as well as Peart. Can’t give up on a 3rd rd pick that quick. We can use a guard tho for sure

You ain't wrong. Some fans just love to complain.

And they complain without offering solid, viable alternatives to outwit the experts who do this for a living.

For me, this is possibly shaping up as the best draft since Eli.

This team has a very good chance at a great future. Loving it. And believe me, I could use it.

I’m worried about the o line. But I love the 2022 draft capital so ultimately it’s hard to bitch too much. Hopefully they pluck gem of a guard on day 3. Go Giants

Gallman was racking. Saquon will too. Setting toney in motion pre snap will change a lot of the concerns ppl have. We don’t need to 7 step drop back with the horses we have. Between slayton, Ross, toney we won’t need the timeclock some of u think

I'm personally happy w/ the draft so far-- but just to answer your question honestly: Giants fans will not be "happy" until they start winning again, i.e. finish better than 6-10. I think the long tenure of awfulness has a even greater number of people skeptical with just about every move in the offseason and draft.

Some people will find the negative in everything. It takes no courage to criticize everything. This team appears to be headed in the right direction. I haven’t felt that way in a long time. Time will tell if their approach works but at this point in time I’m very optimistic. Excited for the coming season.

This is a homerun draft through three rounds. I wasn't able to watch tonight and just logged in to see what happened...I'm thrilled. And I'm saying it now...this draft capital they've built for 2022, this is going to position them to go get a player, trade back up into the first round, or add a 2nd, move up, they can do what they need to do. I don't believe they're going to draft 10 guys next offseason. They are going to land 4 or 5 guys in the first two rounds next year.

In terms of the players they got, Ojulari was already on the short list for 42. You get a 2022 3rd and get him anyway at 50, and then come back in the third and get Aaron Robinson, who most had a 2nd round value on, that's a great pick. He'll challenge Holmes at the nickel spot.

Just a fantastic outcome for the first 3 rounds and next year will be pretty awesome ad the Giants will be re-loading again in a big way.
I'm not sure how you do it Eric

I'm one of the biggest anti-DG guys and think there is a bit too much elation with this year's draft but I admit this draft has been good for 2021 and great for 2022. As I posted in another thread- SY's analysis matches up to a solid draft too.

It's the best year I've felt in draft in the last 4.

But I think we know after every draft the consensus has been "that we nailed it." Sooner or later you have to start to win. But this has been a good draft.

late reading opinions on the last two days. Have the NFL network on in the background. Our old pal Marc Ross was just on talking Giants. He loves everything we did, says we knocked it out of the park. Loves the trade backs and we still got our guys. Seems like he was choking on his words a bit as he was saying it. What the hell is going on? Have never seen this guy say anything positive about the Giants since he left. He has shown an attitude of total disdain. I think this is an indication on just how good the last two days have been for our team. I understand we have some chronic whiners on this site but how can anyone complain about what our FO has pulled off the last two nights.

Word. And you gotta love the posts bitching about trading down after YEARS of complaints about the Giants not trading down.
Draft has been a home run
AcesUp : 5/1/2021 1:42 am : link
Getting those extra picks next year is huge, hopefully there are some converts onto "team trade down". Trading down doesn't mean your target will be off the board, they can still be there and you'll have house money to play with. The ability to trade up next year when we have conviction is now a real option. Weird to say because I wasn't a huge fan of the choice in round 1 but probably my favorite draft so far as a Giants fan.
Fit this into the big picture and it gets better
Grizz99 : 5/1/2021 1:52 am : link
The frenzied free agent period makes even more sense.
It appears they weren't confident in this draft, as much as the lack of disclosure do to covid-19 as anything else. So they worked free agency hard and pushed draft picks into next year, when, as Abrams has already said, they will be cap strapped.
Dallas and Philly play it cute and it gets turned into a giant Bonanza. Then we move up to take Robinson from a cornerback starved Dallas Cowboy Club. Dallas came in starved for cornerbacks, still looking to replace Bobby Jones, and they left without surtain without Hood and without Robinson.
I wanted Tucker, didn't think we could take him at 11, but was watching him slide to us a 20. That would have been some night.

It's true-- if you take the average of Sy's 3 scores of our 3 guys: 84 + 79 + 77 averages out to a score of 80. Since 79-80 is considered a "2nd rounder", that means we basically got an average of 3 picks in first half of the 2nd round... which is exactly what you would expect picking 11th in the draft lol-- oh except we didn't even have to pick 11th in each round and we ended up with almost an entire 2nd draft next year lol: an extra 1st, 2nd, and 4th in 2022. So it's like we basically came away with a "solid draft" for picking 11th except then on top of it we also got 3 extra picks including a potential top 10 pick in 2022.
Like imagine if our draft had just gone:
Leg of Theismann : 5/1/2021 2:06 am : link
11 -- Olujari
43 -- Robinson
76 -- Toney

I think a lot of people would've looked at that and thought it was a pretty solid draft (especially if it was noted that Devonta Smith was gone when we picked at #11). And while some would be saying we "reached" for Olujari, others would be talking about how "some projected Toney to go as early as the late 1st round" etc. So all in all I don't think that would've been a super surprising draft.

... But then imagine you woke up the next day and just randomly found out the Giants ALSO had the Bears 1st round pick in 2022, as well as an additional 3rd and 4th next year...

That's the way I'm going to imagine things went down haha
They are pathetic human beings .....
short lease : 5/1/2021 2:37 am : link

Seriously? I do not think it has anything to do with just the Giants. I would bet you sociologists and people who study human behavior and personality types would have a field day studying BBI.

Some people are just miserable and can't be satisfied with life ... in life, in general. We just happen to witness their response to the Giants.

There’s no point in wasting time on judging other fan’s thoughts.

Personally I went into this draft feeling good about whatever direction they went, as long as it wasn’t RB early, K or P. The fact that they got 2 players Sy had rated highly for where they picked, and one potentially explosive player, plus all of that draft capital in a return to normalcy draft, I’m pretty excited. Sure, I would have liked another OL, but useful Guards can be found on Day 3.

This is one of the best drafts I have seen the Giants have in a long time. Now projections need to lead to results.

This draft is not just hope from the players drafted but also the excitement of the future picks gained.

It sure feels like we are quickly moving in the right direction in year 2 of our make over/ rebuild (Joe Judge era!).

It’s amazing that if you don’t think everything is cheery, and roses, and wear blue colored glasses all the time you are a bad fan. Things are not cheery, and roses, and being so will not make this team have a winning season again. There are reasons this team has lost 4 years in a row with bad FA signings like Solder, and lots of bad drafts. Barkley, and DJ have not made this team better, and one was drafted 2, and the other was a major reach at 6, and Thomas at 4 hasn’t proved one way, or the other yet either. All was picked high, because the team has sucked, so wish, and hope all you want, and cheer for a participation trophy like so many wanted last year at 6-10, but you’ll be losing for a long time.
