Our 3rd CB pick...why is everyone excited?

You're missing a ton.

(1) Teams need four cornerbacks, especially in this division.

(2) Players get hurt. If Bradberry, Jackson, or Holmes go down, Yiadom or Love are your starting corner (nickel is a starter).

(3) Robinson can play inside or outside.

(4) CB was a big need on this team.

on field mistakes can be coached.

It's Holmes and Robinson

Because he can play inside or outside. He is an athletic, speedy corner who can press man coverage. He plays with dog in him.

I want to like the pick i just don’t see why there was buzz around him Re Eagles etc from the few scouting reports I read.

Also the Jackson deal is essentially a 2 year deal. If Robinson pans out, having a starting CB on a 3rd rounder salary will be huge.

Can't have too many CB's and Safeties. With this group, we can do more press defense. More press defense will elevate our ability to pressure the QB

I heard Gettleman mention Robinson will play the “star”. Anyone know what that means?

Like I said I wanted to like the pic but I wasn’t familiar with him and what I did find seemed kinda blah on him for similar reasons. We hoping we went OG.

I hate t say it, but Douglas looks like he knows how to draft. I suppose it’s a little easier though when you have the 2nd pick in each round.

We are going to see a lot of Cedee Lamb, Devonta Smith(as well as at Z), and Curtis Samuel the next few years. Getting mismatches on another teams 3rd/nickel cb is a big part of football.

It's interesting, but if I remember correctly, Holmes played mostly outside in college, but was projected as a slot corner because of his physical profile. Robinson actually was designated slot CB in college, and excelled in that area(even pressing from slot, which was acknowledged as rare to see from a CB coming out). Robinson's athleticism suggests he could also fare well on the outside possibly, so we may have gained some more versatility there. When the offense is constantly trying to create mismatches on your secondary depth, I have absolutely no problem loading up. We have the deepest secondary in our division right now, that's a great thing to have going forward. I still think the greatest asset to our 2016 defense was it's ability in coverage(and the cost of losing that ability was no more apparent then when DRC went down in Green Bay and Rodgers/Cobb went to work), we look stronger in that area now than we were back then.

If they're going to bring in Logan Ryan.People will say there was an injury,well yeah,but he came back.They than proceed to give Ryan 3 more years.

It's a part of their current decision making.Just like some of the Reese moves that left you scratching your head.

He is a man to man specialist. He played over the other teams best WR which sometimes included slot WRs.

Joe Judge and Patrick Graham would draft a DB that makes bad on field decisions?

then, look at the WRs in our division, much less the NFC

Then, we can see the wisdom in building a defensive roster around a fleet of skilled, versatile DBs

He was a top tier recruit to Bama . A lot of these kids transfer quick to get on the field faster. . UCF has been a very good teams w NFL talent . I bet if he had an Alabama still to his name still you might be more excited. Maybe he doesn't develop but literally almost every sports site and draft guru types like the pick. Are having the best draft, Jets had the amount of pucks to do damage, with 6 picks and 2 in the 6th round look at the damage we did. Secondly, you heard the Giants FA Corner has injury issues. This player can potentially play wide out too.

And he is physical. Physical and not just finesse for a 3rd rd pick that potentially can be a starter is pretty darn good. SO he is potentially physical corner that is the 3rd bets corner on our team and can play both slot and wide out. That's darn good - ofc if he produces. But that's the expectation.

The Giants had a very good draft this year minus the OL.

These guys won't all make the roster, and that's assuming Beals doesn't count. Now, maybe they aren't as happy with all of them as I think, which some have suggested and I think is quite possible. But it looks to me as if, barring injury in camp, Williams Holmes, Yiadom and Beals are competing for one spot (along with the camp fodder guys)
