Here's a bombshell from
@CharlesRobinson
, who reports that Aaron Rodgers wants the Packers to fire G.M. Brian Gutekunst.
but make no mistake, guys like Brady are assholes too, the difference here is 1. He had a great HC and 2. BB/Kraft actually invested in him.
Swap the two players, I bet Brady would have been long gone by now if he were a Packer.
Also, he was in Tampa five minutes and they were bending over backwards to get whatever and whoever he wanted.
Gronk? Sure.
Antonio Brown? Sure.
Fournette? Okay.
Trade up to get an offensive tackle.
The Packers are going to stick with their plan, which rarely involves big free agent expenditures or high offensive draft picks. They’ve used their first pick on an offensive player ONCE in the past decade and that was to draft Jordan Love, a quarterback.
and win a SB. Maybe he feels he can do the same with another team. He’s proven what a big jerk he really is.
He saw Tim Brady leave and join a franchise that did everything possible to make him happy and put a quality offensive unit around him. Heck, the Giants did everything that they could with Eli… they just did a very poor job of talent evaluation.
It is a business. Rodgers is doing this because he can. His life is set. He can give back 30 million if they want to play hardball. The chip on his shoulder that makes him great is in play. He will not give in. GM pissed him off. QB or GM, owner's choice. I am betting on Rodgers. GM is gone or Rodgers is playing Denver.
They can play hardball too. They can say you're retired and we own your rights.
Sure they can. He retires ...Do they keep 35 million handy or they sign players? What happens when he unretires. He can fuck them over 6 ways from Sunday. You want Aaron Rodgers in your locker room when he doesn’t want to be there? Rodgers is a different kind of cat. He is going to win this. I wouldn't question that man's resolve.
Capitalist pigs irate at labor exerting leverage for once.
He's an employee with leverage. Perceived or real. I don't begrudge him for using whatever leverage he thinks he has in trying to improve his situation. Particularly with the window on his career closing. More power to him.
In that game. This a hard ball, big boy, high stakes business. Powerful corporation negotiating with a powerful employee that is aggrieved. I don't judge either of them.
Actions have consequences in the real world. Packers drafted Rodgers replacement without consult.
He now wants out or the GM fired.
It just is. I am going to enjoy this now public game of chicken.
Whether this is true or not, Rodgers shouldn’t hold the place captive. If I were the Packers, trade him for anything. You don’t want this newly diagnosed cancer to continue. It’s fucked.
Sorry, I don’t care how long he has helped, I don’t care how many games he can win. You aren’t god.
this doesnt have to do with love or favre - it has to do with the trash front office not supplying a hof generational talent with a supporting cast to make a run at the superbowl. people are so dense wtf. makes me not wanna follow sports tbh.

They may own his NFL rights, but they can't keep Jeopardy from signing him. He killed it during his two week stint as guest host, and the ratings went up. Nice gig, they film a week's episodes in a day, so he would work 1 day a week for 40 something weeks a year at a very nice salary. And he would not age out as an NFL player eventually does.
RE: Some people here still angry about John Elway...
The Packers made the NFCCG two years in a row, losing this year due to questionable decision making and bad fumbles. They had the talent to win the Super Bowl both years and did not get it done. This isn't the post-2011 Giants. The defense was 13th in PPG and top ten in yards.

No player is bigger than the team/franchise. EVER. The Packers will still be playing football in 10 years, 20 years, 50 years.... Rodgers will not.
Well, the Packers' GM's record is 32-15-1, 26-6 since firing McCarthy and hiring Lafleur, and 2 NFC Championship appearances since. Is that a fireable offense because he took Jordan Love?
He's an employee with leverage. Perceived or real. I don't begrudge him for using whatever leverage he thinks he has in trying to improve his situation. Particularly with the window on his career closing. More power to him.
Assuming he has leverage (which I disagree with...2 years left on his contract and a highly drafted backup), he's taking all the trade leverage away from the Packers by speaking out. Packers won't let him go in a bad deal, and the more trouble he causes, the weaker the offer to the Packers get.
Handle this behind closed doors and it probably gets done.
But when his previous employer stopped bringing in talent, he got the hell out of there and went somewhere else. His new organization did everything possible to bring in talent, including any players Brady wanted. No one in the league will touch Antonio Brown. Brady wanted him and he got him. Meanwhile, the only first round pick the Packers will use on offense is for Jordan Love.
I mean, he hired Lafluer and they've been 26-3 since, and made the NFC Championships two years in a row....
And they're going to fire the guy because he didn't consult Rodgers before drafting Love?
Beyond stupid as are the hot takes here.
There is no need to spend #1 picks on offensive skill players when you can pull Aaron Jones in the 5th round, Davante Adams in the 2nd round, pick Tonyan off the Lions scrap heap, get Valdes-Scantling and his 20 yards a catch in the 5th round, etc etc. They've made the playoffs 14 of the last 20 years and have been in 3 of the last 5 NFC championship games.
This is a franchise run "shitty" and a "mess"? Really? Can we be a shitty mess like this too?
They "buttfucked" Rodgers when at age 35 coming off an injury season, the Packers handed Rodgers a 57 million signing bonus and a 134 million dollar contract to take him to age 38. He wasn't whining when he cashed the check.
You guys need to stop listening to the assholes in the sporting press trying to gin up a controversy.
If Rodgers agreed, none of this would be happening.

So, you think some team could pick up Rogers cheap because he wants out? When you'd have 20+ teams falling all over themselves to get him his desires would have no bearing on the possible offers.

Yes he did leave, but he was a FA, not under contract
and he's throwing down the gauntlet. I can certainly see his point...
Hell, Tom Brady supposedly went to Kraft and threw down the gauntlet when Belichick wanted to keep JimG as the heir apparent. And basically told Kraft to trade JimG or else. A few days later, JimG was a 49er.
I mean, he hired Lafluer and they've been 26-3 since, and made the NFC Championships two years in a row....

chimed in on Rodgers and basically called him out. I think Bradshaw is right. Poor Aaron Rodgers he only got to the NFC Champ Game after carving up the league.
He's pissed because they drafted the QB in the 1st round in 2020? What a douche bag. Whining he didn't have enough tools? He had plenty.
I agree STFU and play or retire. Post article on Terry Bradshaw - ( New Window )
Aaron Rogers is the rare case of one player making an offense go
Did I see someone just reference MVS 20 ypc? He isn’t half the player Slayton is. Rogers is the reason that team is so damn good and all you need to look at their record without him and they’ve had some decent backups there.
This is all down to the fact they are doing everything in their power from a roster building standpoint to piss him off combined with the uncertainty of his contract. I doubt he saw them drafting a QB when he had 4 years left on his deal when he signed it. They can cut bait at any moment. There’s a ton going on behind the scenes here clearly, but like usual, people have their mind made up one way or another.
Moved up to take Love. Get on with it, trade Rodgers for a ransom and let him go somewhere else or fire the GM. He has earned the money he made and the right to play for who he wants. I bet they get 4 #1s, transform the club. He isn't screwing them, they will get a huge return. They can reset the franchise.
One of the folks campaigning for QBs not being worth the money here is a perfect test case. Love is on a rookie contract, Trade Rodgers for players and picks and run with it. Sign others FAs with the money you get back.
Sometimes breakups are best for everyone. Relationships sometimes go bad.

No problem though since I can't stand them and their front running fans.

Ok settle down.

Yup, Just because he’s a top 10 or better QB ever, does not preclude him from being called an arrogant prick..Fuck him!
Brady is 10 times the leader this clown is. The proof is in the pudding.
Rodgers seems completely unaware of his shortcomings.

There can be no peace while Gutekunst is still the GM!

Quite a compelling case you and Terry have made.
