Here's a bombshell from
@CharlesRobinson
, who reports that Aaron Rodgers wants the Packers to fire G.M. Brian Gutekunst.
The GM decides to put out there that there is zero % chance we are trading him. Rodgers comes back with fire the GM or I am not coming back. Clearly fans will side with Rodgers over GM so basically Rodgers called his bluff..
1. How shitty they’ve run the team over the years and 2. That a lot happens behind closed doors that turn relationships on his head.
The packers did this to themselves by keeping McCarthy around so long and then doubled down when they drafted Love and having shitty drafts overall.
The old way of doing things is over. GB, Seattle, Houston are all immediate examples of this.
Taking Love and the AJ Dillon when you have prime Aaron Rodgers was really dumb. Rodgers was the league MVP last year. The Packers don't get nearly enough grief for mismanaging their roster with a HOF qb
I'll take pain in the ass cheese head quarterbacks for a 100 Alex
my point was you should probably make your QB happy. He’s underpaid and almost went to the Super Bowl despite a giant FU from his GM taking Love. There was a time where that worked, and why are seeing why that’s not the case both on the field and off.
It’s an inept front office and Rodgers has been covering it up for years.
They have draft almost all defense in the first round since he has been there. He is the only QB they haven’t gone out of there way to get more help. I mean at some point your QB is going to be pissed you keep taking all Defense or a QB in the first... could you imagine Tom Brady if they did that
and the same people calling him a diva would be irate if Eli was treated like Rodgers has, and Rodgers is twice the player Eli is, which isn't a knock.
Or show up. Up to you. He's in danger of Tiki Barbering himself IMO. If you want a career post football try not to be a dick
He’s always been a dick. He’s actually well liked off the field. Does a lot for charity and was very well received on jeopardy.
I actually like him in general for the reasons you state. Tiki was very popular then really blew it. Rodgers wants an extension for most likely 30 million per year or more . That is what this is about. But he obviously wants a media/acting career too. The only way something like this gets out is if he has in reps put t it out there. Hence my warning. Tiki looked like he had a very viable post football media career. He blew it. Rodgers IMO needs to be careful here IMO to hear may blow up his post NFL options .
Who can argue really? Brought in a new QB and okay, but there’s a a right way to do that and then there’s the way the Pack did it. They also brought in a very young HC and they didn’t help. At least according to Lombardi.
Maybe Getty can send those two 1st round picks he’s got for next year to GB to get AR?
the GM was shopping Rodgers (and allegedly had a "3 1sts" price tag and a preferred list of teams from Rodgers) and SF (one of the teams on the list) was interested and made an offer, but the Packers GM balked.
I thought I read the GM called Rodgers during the off-season and said he was going to try and trade him and that's what started all this.
So, if all that is true, if you're Rodgers and know you're approaching the end of the road and this GM who really hasn't done you much favors as a QB (and I know that's a two-way street) but then doesn't pull the trigger, I can understand Rodgers being a dick (if it's true).
why he's not thrilled with the general direction of the team, but these conversations should be had inside the facility not in the media so they can dissect everything to death.
Rodgers doesn't look good in this secenario at all.

It’s past that point. This didn’t just happen, it’s been brewing for years apparently. At some point someone needs to make a move and Rodgers doesn’t have a problem being the one to do it. He doesn’t care if people think he’s a dick either.

But that has been a very popular idea... Inevitable physical decline and parting ways too early vs. too late, planning for the future, etc...

Eli was treated that way and we were pissed. They ruined some of his prime years.

Disagree...the Giants tried to help their offense, they just have been awful at talent acquisition. The Packers almost go out of their way to not bring in skill players.
if you have a star skill position player who’s getting older like a Julio Jones, sure. But he was in the NFCC game and his arm talent has shown no signs of declining. He came off a 4 INT season......4.
And even with all that the Packers still could have made it right and chose not to. No extension, and the threat of trading him (if the rumors are true) without actually doing it. The whole thing has been mismanaged.

^This.
Let’s not damn the guy because some reporter claims to have a source

So not only do you want to pay the QB 20% of your salary cap, you want to give him power over the front office too?
Slippery slope.
Rodgers is a petty dude, for sure, but the GM hasn't done right by him either. Pack fans must be in mourning.

The guy is a prick.

Yeah. Who does he think he is? Deshaun Watson?
Put Love in there, that’s why they drafted him right?
Swap the two players, I bet Brady would have been long gone by now if he were a Packer.
Top run game, top WR and the best OL in football.
The defense picked off Brady three times in the NFC title game. It wasn't the GM who failed to do anything with those opportunities.

That SF team would have been perfect for Rodgers.
Rodgers doesn't look good in this secenario at all.
Bingo. Fuck 'em let see where else he can make $30 million next year. Or for the rest of his life for that matter.

In fact, that's exactly how Rodgers was drafted.
Eli was treated that way and we were pissed. They ruined some of his prime years.
You're fuckin joking right? That guy put that franchise on his back and that scumbag of a gm hasnt done a fucking thing to help him. Wtf?

The packers front office is a laughing stock. Gutekunst is WORSE than Reese was.
