Here's a bombshell from
@CharlesRobinson
, who reports that Aaron Rodgers wants the Packers to fire G.M. Brian Gutekunst.
if you have a star skill position player who’s getting older like a Julio Jones, sure. But he was in the NFCC game and his arm talent has shown no signs of declining. He came off a 4 INT season......4.
And even with all that the Packers still could have made it right and chose not to. No extension, and the threat of trading him (if the rumors are true) without actually doing it. The whole thing has been mismanaged.
Favre wasn't a declining average QB when Rodgers was drafted.
Or show up. Up to you. He's in danger of Tiki Barbering himself IMO. If you want a career post football try not to be a dick
Or, dick or no dick, he could just buy a house in Tahoe, and spend the rest of his life in ease and comfort with the money he's already made, while still pulling in some bucks from ad work, etc.
How we never hold our own to the same standard we apply to players from other organizations.
Rodgers is a prick? Why? He's given his entire career to the Packers and sat the bench for three years while the Packers dicked around with Farve. He's a 3 time league MVP. He's pissee that they haven't done anything to improve the team around him.
And yet we celebrate a QB who's daddy orchestrated a draft day deal before having aged a single NFL down.
get smoked in the SB and they could have just said ehh fuck it but instead did everything they could to protect Mahomes.
Mahomes is 25. Rodgers is 37. While I agree Rodgers has a lot left in the tank, and I disagreed with the Love pick, it's not egregious to start grooming a future QB. Favre was 35 when they traded up to the 1st round for Rodgers.
it isn’t 2005 anymore, different league. I said that already, things don’t work that way anymore. And Rodgers and Love weren’t close in talent level coming out - the former was considered likely the best QB in the draft and the other a project.

Alex Smith went #1 overall in 2005. Rodgers fell all the way to the 20's when the Packers traded up for him. That's identical to what happened with Love, really.
and the same people calling him a diva would be irate if Eli was treated like Rodgers has, and Rodgers is twice the player Eli is, which isn't a knock.
Eli is twice the man Rodgers is. Period.
On a human level, we all build up resentments with our employers
I'm sure Rodgers has his and they are cumulative. Taking Love in Rd 1. That terrible 4th down punt. I just don't think you can resolve this without therapy lol.
RE: I don't agree with it, and I understand why he's unhappy....
He's an employee with leverage. Perceived or real. I don't begrudge him for using whatever leverage he thinks he has in trying to improve his situation. Particularly with the window on his career closing. More power to him.

Ok superfan. Such short memories we have.

More so than anything... they have a reasonable out 'contract wise' after this season. They can save half his cap eat half of it AFTER this upcoming season... something they probably wouldn't strongly consider unless he starts causing a stink like he is now...
The GM was a scout or something prior, but he didn't become GM until 2018 when the team was already a mess. They were coming of a losing season after some mediocre years, the offense wasn't as dynamic, the defense stunk for years, and the McCarthy Rodgers relationship was in the toilet and very public.
He fixed the defense pretty quickly. He drafted a couple starters at corner, signed zadarius smith, preston smith, adrian amos, etc... Look at them now.
Offensively, yea he could have done more, but it would be at the expense of the defense that was in terrible shape. You only have so much money, so many draft picks, and so many FAs that you can afford.
Offensively, he did draft pro bowl lineman, AJ dillon, and baby Runyan. None of his wrs or TEs look like they will pan out. I don't recall many of his offensive FA signings besides Graham who was long done from his NO days.
Bottom line for me is he took over a messy team, has a pretty damn good roster top to bottom, and has won 13 games 2 of his 3 years. Rodgers has 2 lineman, a wr, and rb in the pro bowl. Frankly, Tonyan should have made it too. They certainly need a legit #2 wr, but the roster is pretty good, much better than most teams.
but make no mistake, guys like Brady are assholes too, the difference here is 1. He had a great HC and 2. BB/Kraft actually invested in him.
Swap the two players, I bet Brady would have been long gone by now if he were a Packer.
Also, he was in Tampa five minutes and they were bending over backwards to get whatever and whoever he wanted.
Gronk? Sure.
Antonio Brown? Sure.
Fournette? Okay.
Trade up to get an offensive tackle.
The Packers are going to stick with their plan, which rarely involves big free agent expenditures or high offensive draft picks. They’ve used their first pick on an offensive player ONCE in the past decade and that was to draft Jordan Love, a quarterback.
and win a SB. Maybe he feels he can do the same with another team. He’s proven what a big jerk he really is.
He saw Tim Brady leave and join a franchise that did everything possible to make him happy and put a quality offensive unit around him. Heck, the Giants did everything that they could with Eli… they just did a very poor job of talent evaluation.
It is a business. Rodgers is doing this because he can. His life is set. He can give back 30 million if they want to play hardball. The chip on his shoulder that makes him great is in play. He will not give in. GM pissed him off. QB or GM, owner's choice. I am betting on Rodgers. GM is gone or Rodgers is playing Denver.
They can play hardball too. They can say you're retired and we own your rights.
Sure they can. He retires ...Do they keep 35 million handy or they sign players? What happens when he unretires. He can fuck them over 6 ways from Sunday. You want Aaron Rodgers in your locker room when he doesn’t want to be there? Rodgers is a different kind of cat. He is going to win this. I wouldn't question that man's resolve.
Capitalist pigs irate at labor exerting leverage for once.
He's an employee with leverage. Perceived or real. I don't begrudge him for using whatever leverage he thinks he has in trying to improve his situation. Particularly with the window on his career closing. More power to him.
In that game. This a hard ball, big boy, high stakes business. Powerful corporation negotiating with a powerful employee that is aggrieved. I don't judge either of them.
Actions have consequences in the real world. Packers drafted Rodgers replacement without consult.
He now wants out or the GM fired.
It just is. I am going to enjoy this now public game of chicken.
Whether this is true or not, Rodgers shouldn’t hold the place captive. If I were the Packers, trade him for anything. You don’t want this newly diagnosed cancer to continue. It’s fucked.
Sorry, I don’t care how long he has helped, I don’t care how many games he can win. You aren’t god.
this doesnt have to do with love or favre - it has to do with the trash front office not supplying a hof generational talent with a supporting cast to make a run at the superbowl. people are so dense wtf. makes me not wanna follow sports tbh.

Way to be intellectually consistent there.

Ohh I get it. I wouldn’t budge if I was GB. I’m simply saying they are getting what they deserve now, they botched this for years.

Its funny watching broke ass Marks defend multi billion dollar corporations over the boys. Thats a good sheeple.

Oh man. Mic drop.
Some people may be, but I am not defending him, but I understand why he's pissed.
However by going public (if he even actually did and the story is true) it sort of forces their hand.

No problem though since I can't stand them and their front running fans.

And they're going to fire the guy because he didn't consult Rodgers before drafting Love?
