I think the Giants made the most of their draft with really good selections and set themselves up really well for 2022.
I didn't

realize the Eagles were set up so well for 2022 draft too.

They had a good draft as well.

They may have 3 first rounders next year.

Obviously getting DeVonta Smith was a big get for them. Love Dickerson, but it will all hinge on his medicals. Milton Williams was a panic pick after we took Robinson and Detroit took Alim McNeill.
The McNeill and Williams picks

are what led to a questionable 3rd round for Dallas.

Dallas was unlucky this draft after having players fall to them last year.

We need Wentz to miss half the season due to injury...

..and for the Colts to play the Dolphins in the AFC Championship game (for the right to play the Giants in the Super Bowl).

But, yeah, the Eagles had a good draft and are set up nicely for next year's draft. Not only did they land Smith and Dickerson, but they got my namesake in Milton Williams and their 7th round pick, JaCoby Stephens was a LB/S I liked for the Giants.
We need to talk about the Bears draft too.
FStubbs : 5/2/2021 12:22 pm : link
We're rooting for them to do badly next year.
Mixed feelings about Dolphins...
Milton : 5/2/2021 1:21 pm : link
The better their 2021 season, the worse it is for the 1st round pick the Eagles get, but it's also worse for the 3rd round pick the Giants get.
I think the Eagles drafted well
Amtoft : 5/2/2021 2:04 pm : link
I would have it Eagles, Giants, Washington, and then Dallas
Don't forget Comp picks that will get assigned a few months from now
George : 5/2/2021 3:18 pm : link
I'm not smart enough to know the formula used by the NFL to determine these, but additional spots will go to NFC East teams for sure.
Seems to me the Dallas defense when from laughable (2020)
GeofromNJ : 5/2/2021 3:36 pm : link
to scary good. My concern is whether Jones will have ample time to connect with the Giants greatly improved receiver core when we play Dallas.
Dallas

Defense will still stink. Their LB crew is overrated. I don't know why didnt re-sign Awuzie.

Same reason they didn't sign B.Jones. Dallas wants more aggressive cornerbacks that are ball hawks. Jones and Awuize played the man and not the ball.

That's why Horn would have been the selection over Surtain if it ever happened. Horn is the more aggressive cornerback, Surtain is more the tactician.

As currently projected by OTC, the Cowboys will get a 4th round comp pick for the loss of Andy Dalton and that's it for the division. Nothing for Giants, Eagles, and WTF's.

With all of their picks why they didn’t trade up I don’t know. Much like the Giants with Robinson in Round 3 where they had one player clearly higher and used an extra pick obtained from a prior deal to move up.

Dallas tried to trade up in the 2nd round for Barmore ir Moehrig, but couldn't find a trade partner.

In the 3rd they had three picks, one early, and thought a player would fall. But both got taken.

I have said this on another thread. Last year every player fell to Dallas. This year the players they liked were taken just before they selected. That's just the breaks of the draft. One year you get them, the next you don't.

Wow. I didn't really look at Dallas's 3rd round picks, but man those are some head scratchers.

By way of comparison, here's Sy's ratings for the 3 picks:

Round 3, pick 75 – Osa Odighizuwa, DT, UCLA - 72 (5th or 6th rounder)
Round 3, pick 84 – Chauncey Golston, DE, Iowa - 73 (5th or 6th rounder)
Round 3, pick 99 – Nahshon Wright, CB, Oregon State - Unrated (UDFA)

For the 3rd round that is horrendous.
It has been confirmed

the Wright pick was made by the DC, Quinn.

He had a conversation with the kid and fell in love with him.

Quinn had a lot of influence on the draft. He likes tall players and you see that throughout the process. Dallas got two CBs that are 6'4".

We'll see how it pans out, but I rather have Will McClay in charge of the draft room.

Mukuamu was a good value where you got him, but there were plenty of CB's with size that were higher rated than Wright. Melifonwu and Stephens went at 101 and 104 and were better options IMHO. We will see what happens as there are always people who do better than they were rated, but there are also those who teams gamble on that they know more than the consensus and it backfires.
