So most of the play-in round was during the draft so I figured a thread would get lost.
this is where many of us get our first glimpse of players in the upcoming drafts.
USA has a solid team and lost just once in the play-in round (7-6 in OT to Russia), beat Finland in OT, Germany, and the Czech's in a shootout.
They play Sweden today in the QF's at 9pm on NHLN. USA was 3rd in their division and Sweden was 2nd, but Canada is the class of the tournament. they beat Sweden 12 - 1.
Sean Behrens (puck moving D), Sasha Pastujov (dynamic F), and Dylan Duke (dynamic F) has been US best players.
Canada easily the favorites here.
Uber prospect Shane Wright on Canada. Wright played just two games and has 5 goals. Connor Bedard another player I like on Canada, but they are absolutely loaded - normally they are having CHL playoffs around this time so they lose many of their best players to that, but no memorial cup this year.
US was up on Russia 5-1, late score tied it, and the USSR Army Team won it in extra (that's who they looked like in their all red unis)

Yeah, USA Russia was frustrating.
No you mean Brett Berard (Rangers 2020 draft pick)? No unrelated, different last names and one is American (from RI) and other Canadian.
Unless you meant Bryan Berard who I thought had Norris potential until he lost the sight in his eye - though he's old enough to be their father not brother.
Canucks 12 - 1 over Swedes, had not picked up on that. Woof!
It's always a few players and to be fair sometimes players form other countries too (but the majority are Canadian).
doesn't diminish any US golds I'm not one of those "but the other team wasn't at full strength" people, but it's certainly more impressive when at full strength - like they were for the U20's when the US won in January.
Canada will beat Sweden badly, IMO, they beat the Czech's 10-3 in the other bracket QF.
FIN and RUS play the other Semi.
At best a 5th place finish for US in the worlds which means a harder division again next year.
