to navigate him through being a first-year head coach.
Interesting. I mean I know he's close with Flores, but I figured that we brought in Garrett and Judge brought in Kitchens so Judge would have a soundboard.
I wonder if Judge has a trust "issue", meaning he feels most comfortable working with people he already knows well and already trusts. How many times has he talked about the importance of his circle of people from his past that he knows and trusts? He refers to this all the time. Maybe he didn't immediately feel comfortable with Garrett and or Kitchens, not having a long personal history with them?
Not that this is a problem, it's human nature, probably good judgement. I'm real picky too about who I trust.

I think it’s simple. Belichick/Saban are very demanding and run a very intense/detailed/specific program. Even Jason Garrett worked with Saban. It’s not for everyone, as we saw with Colombo.
It’s easier to train someone than re-train someone. I think that’s the idea.
Flores had also literally just completed his 1st year as HC
it's different getting a perspective from someone like that compared to Garrett who had been a HC for ~10 years.
By most accounts, Judge is close with BB, yet he wasn't relying on him for advice on how to adjust to being HC for the same reasons. I'm sure if he had general coaching questions, he'd talk to BB or JG/FK, but in terms of making the transition from coordinator to HC, there was probably no better person to talk to than Flores.

Basic answer to everything was "I have to learn to coach better".
Exactly what he should say. Love this guy.
