I think we will have a 10 ten defense, potentially at top 5 defense.
I think we will be top 10 in special teams.
If Jones does well, and the line holds up, we have playmakers and a lot of potential.
So with full optimism in effect, are we good enough to beat the Chiefs, Tampa, Ravens, our division, ect . . .?
Did other teams make bigger jumps then us this offseason?
I think we win the division this year with above average performance from Jones, but I do not really know what to expect from other teams. The Giants improved in free agency and hopefully the draft, but will it be enough? Does Jones need to preform on a top 10 for us to compete in the playoffs.
So, in short I am excited about what the Giants have done and come become, but I do not really have a good feeling on how we line up with the rest of the league.
He’s got the tools, the confidence, the demeanor and the courage to succeed. With health on the support front, he has a nice complement of weapons..
Assuming he’s reasonably healthy, this needs to be the year he “leaps.” Otherwise, JJ may look elsewhere for his franchise guy.
If the Chiefs offensive line improves and has depth, they are going to be real tough to beat. Although, I will always love Spags, I think their defense is still suspect.
The Patriots will be interesting to watch this year with all the investments they made.
Defense is stacked. It’s especially stacked in the secondary. Secondary has never been this stacked in my view. And don’t tell me they need to do it. They did it last year. They’ll do it again and more in 21. You’ve got two studs at 3-4 and plenty of legit depth. Linebackers are fine if a bit unspectacular but at least they’ve got numbers there. As long as we have pros who know their role the rest of the D will carry the day.
Add in the 3 defensive draft picks... I’ve been fooled before but I’m all in on this defense. I think it’s going to be near the top this coming season. All I wanted was for nyg to devote resources to the defense this offseason and not rest on any laurels and I think they have clearly done so. They added weapons to the offense and more talent to the D. Let’s see it. Can’t wait for training camp.
However, I think we are a superb OL and pass rusher away from being able to compete for four quarters with the better teams.
Winning the SB isn't always about being the most talented but it is about being the healthiest & hottest during the stretch run; and, having a matchup advantage that overwhelms the other team. Examples are our pass rush in 2007 and 2011 as well as Tampa's last year.
This team will win the division and may even win a playoff game...but their run looks to be designed for 2022.
There is much to be hopeful with the giants:
- having additional time for young offensive line players to develop and gel
- free agent acquisitions and draft picks including some skill players, which was this teams biggest weakness
- the return of Barkley
This coming year will be dependent primarily on Jones taking that next step. If he does, the Giants improve and they make a run on the Super Bowl in a year or two.
If he doesn’t then back to the qb drawing board.
