Broncos' OT Ja'Wuan James suffered a season-ending torn Achilles working out today away from the team facility, per sources. James' $10 million salary for the upcoming season now is in jeopardy being that Denver no longer is obligated to pay him with him working out off site. |

One of many reasons why I’d show up for off-season program.

He should have been working out at the team’s facility.
They should absolutely refuse to pay. Force the players to come in for "voluntary" workouts. Screw the union.
Interesting what the fall out of this will be
Let’s see how this goes... if they burn him, it highlights the class of the NYG organization ex) Rudolph situation. That matters now and going forward

That what I was thinking...
I’ll wait to see if it’s confirmed that he was really working out and not doing something else like playing basketball or doing something reckless.

Broncos' OT Ja'Wuan James’ contract tolled last year, so he was playing under his 2020 contract this year, which had $10 million guaranteed for skill and injury, and another $10 million in 2021. So it’s a $20 million potential torn Achilles injury today.

Side note; Privately (and not so privately) there's a lot of frustration with players with their union right now. Will be interesting to see if this lights a fire.
Boy, that will make this decision even tougher for Denver.
Not saying that is the reason here but, a year away from working out hard (with a real season, games etc. coming) must be hard to just kick it back in gear.

it’s not like he tore his Achilles doing something crazy. He was working out. And honestly, if he hurt it lifting weights or something the odds are pretty good that would have happened off site or at the team facility.

If he really was working out when this happened and a team refuses to pay, good luck signing any marquee free agents in the future.
Honest question, if you are a person who works in an office environment requiring extensive emailing, typing, etc. and you break your hand falling on a patch of ice at the store, and your employer says sorry you got hurt but we’re not paying you how would you feel about working for that company? I would be looking for another job.

Were you at the store when you should have been at the office?

Players don’t have to be at the team facility, these workouts are voluntary.
Sounds like he listened to the Union and avoided team facilities, BUT, trained.
Fun times coming up, leaguewide if the story is true.
