No...not as the giants QB, far from it.
Anyone wonder the timing of everything? Anyone find it curious how hard he tried to push himself out of Houston a few months before the allegations became public? I think it’s fair to say he knew then Re shake down/settlement money beforehand. Look, Houston is a trainwreck, but anyone think he tried to force a trade (as he has a no trade clause) to get more guaranteed money up front?
Maybe there is a legit chance we never see Watson take the field again?
The message is "don't get too uppity and buck us, or else."

Well, let him at least get arrested before you call him a rapist, maybe...

Ben wasn't arrested either. Let's call a spade a spade.

So neither is a rapist, are they? And what Watson is accused of is not want Ben was accused of...too many looking for a kickback ...

The guy was getting happy endings at most and the Texans saw an opportunity to exploit it and went full throttle. Told the girls what the deal was, and they clearly see it as a great opportunity, because it is. That's the problem with having all this shit illegal to begin with. It's not like what he was doing was immoral unless you buy that narrative that the vast amount of those girls are captured immigrants doing it against their will.
1) Watson knew what was coming and tried to force himself out to get as much guaranteed money as possible as he saw the walls closing in (which makes sense if he really is guilty and knows he’s toast)
Or
2) Watson truly wanted out, embarrassed the Texans, and the powers that be put their resources to work to ruin Watson (in which case he may be innocent).
Regardless - Innocent until proven guilty, and coincidences do happen - most conspiracy theories come from unexplained coincidences that seem too convenient to actually be pure coincidence.
Will be interesting to see how it all works out for him. Hopefully justice is served, to who ever actually deserves it.
As for Watson, it's looking like he essentially solicited prostitutes dozens of times under a pretty flimsy guise. Can't be sure about the assault part given lack of evidence and witnesses but I would guess the solicitation alone has a risk of prison time.
Wrong. He likely had a morals clause. We know he had a no trade clause. Before this all became public he had all the leverage to negotiate his new deal including signing bonus. Something to thing about.
Bingo

How could he not know was coming? Either he did it and knew it was coming and/or the shake downs were happening before coming public

How could he not know what was coming given they likely looked for an early payout to keep it confidential?

Very good point Tuna
Because they likely have a morals clause in his contract and he has a no trade clause and total leverage Re to approve a trade and negotiate a protected signing bonus.

Thanks. I live for Robbieballs to finally give me the respect I deserve 😔
That would apply to any new contract too. If this broke after he had new deal somewhere, any upfront money would still be subject to clawback if the allegations held up.

It sounds dumb but I basically haven’t been following this story all that deeply. Has there been a linkage shown between the Texans and the women?

Why would it? Watson was the golden boy with all the leverage and started trying to force his way out 5 months ago? He had a no trade clause. Do you think before these allegations started he couldn’t have had leverage to approve a trade on the condition he got a protected signing bonus? There was talk he was worth 3 1st rd picks and had the cover of trying to escape a bad team. He had unlimited leverage.

I think the timing of everything creates two possible scenarios (unless it was pure coincidence, but its more interesting to think it wasn’t)....
1) Watson knew what was coming and tried to force himself out to get as much guaranteed money as possible as he saw the walls closing in (which makes sense if he really is guilty and knows he’s toast)

I agree Tuna - I think it’s very possible that he never plays again. All I am saying is that IF this is totally fabricated OR the team knew about it and it was a non-issue until he embarrassed them by demanding a trade, when it could then be used as leveraged - that might have caught him by surprise.
The only way he knew this was coming was if he is guilty. If he isn’t, I could see him being surprised by the whole situation, which probably starts with a shakedown before everything becomes public.

There is no way he didn’t know well in advance as some of the future plaintiffs had to have reached him for shake down money in exchange for confidentiality. That’s just the way it works.

Timing is odd. Follow the money, it drives most things in life. He knew he was in trouble and thought if he got traded he would get some guaranteed cash before the news broke and as a long shot maybe if he was in a new location the problem may fade away.
Bingo
How does this track at all? Follow the money? How about the Texans trying to force their will on a player and getting out of his contract by pinning something on him. That makes way more sense than him thinking it was going to go away with a trade. This is the NATIONAL football league, and it's certainly not a local sport ala baseball.
It sounds dumb but I basically haven’t been following this story all that deeply. Has there been a linkage shown between the Texans and the women?
There is some line between the lawyer who is representing all 20 something women (extremely unusual) and that clown Easterby.
If so, the Texans would have an obligation to inform a potential trade partner.
Btw, with their first pick in the draft this year the Texans chose a QB

Yea that makes total sense. I guess it all depends on if someone did indeed try to shake him down or if the Texans just wanted to burry him, which if he is charged I am sure we will hear about in court.
I’ll take that bet as long as you’re truly going to honor it.
I am tempted to take this bet but I am not a gambler so will not. Do you seriously want to make this available in a public forum for someone in a gambling legal state to approve in this thread and hold you accountable through legal discovery?
Forum members, feel free to place your bets at 10-1 against Zeke’s Alibi I’d offer

It’s legally enforceable as long as you reside in a gambling state. The legal process will force discovery against him.

Please the police have much better things to do. Are they kicking down doors during March madness? Are they beating down old ladies for Superbowl squares. The cops could give a fuck about gambling because almost all of them do it. Even before legal gambling bookies only got harassed if they were fucking up elsewhere. Jesus Christ you are a fucking ninny.

Lol. No I’m just curious if someone accepts your offer/bet and then legally moves to collect on it through your IP address. If I were you I would withdraw it now.

It’s not a police issue as gambling is now legal in certain states and would assume Eric doesn’t want gambling on his website. This was a good thread/conversation until you pissed on it
If you took the time to read the thread, which included actual analysis versus your personal opinion, you will see others disagree with you. Your response was to make a perhaps legally enforceable bet which highlights your lack of good judgement
Quote:
is to say that Watson is never going to play again in the NFL. Absolute inanity. I try not to personal attack people, but this is the dumbest shit I've heard on this site. A superstar QB is never going to play another down because he liked to get happy endings. OK.

You are a real life hall monitor, dork. And you have a tenous idea of what is legally enforceable. Just because someone agreed with you doesn't make it any less fucking stupid.
Then MAN UP and offer a bet for forum members to make and collect against you OR say “I was only kidding” and show yourself for who you are
Everyone will now see how you respond.
You were offering 10-1, right?
Are we just gonna act like Kraft didn’t get caught soliciting and Antonio Brown wasn’t accused of rape recently and both are still in the NFL.
Like I and the board thought. Nothing from you.
Are we just gonna act like Kraft didn’t get caught soliciting and Antonio Brown wasn’t accused of rape recently and both are still in the NFL.
Fair point. Before Zeke took this sideways. I thought I offered a fairly convincing rationale for why Watson demanded a trade when he did. IF it was for the reasons I suggested, there is a legit chance he is done.
If you disagree/agree, Zeke is offering 10-1 so work it out with him if he wants to honor it and make it official.

Had to walk my dog tough guy, didn't realize I was walking away from a money making opportunity.
Let’s just let it go Zeke
Are we just gonna act like Kraft didn’t get caught soliciting and Antonio Brown wasn’t accused of rape recently and both are still in the NFL.
I agree, but what I find to be the biggest difference is Watson has 22 civil cases filed against him of which two allege sexual assault. Like I said innocent until proven guilty, who knows if he even gets charged, but AB only had one accuser and Kraft was only charged with a misdemeanor, which was dropped.
Just seems to be a far more significant, consistent and widespread event for Watson (if true) and hard to compare to AB and Kraft.

The only way Watson doesn’t play another down is if he just straight up retires because he couldn’t leave the Texans. IMO

The key is when he likely knew of the early shakedown and tried to use enormous leverage to get another signing bonus. I think he’s in real trouble.
