Nice piece on Tae Crowder.

If you’re not familiar, FlemLo Raps is a really good channel. The guy does some really good player bios.

Thanks for posting. I particularly liked the early HS training footage--a reminder of how far some guys have come.
That's a nice story about a guy who still gets overlooked by fans. I

hope he has a great second season.
What are Tae's chances of staying on the Giants? Practice squad?

It looks like there is a lot of competition with the new draft picks and recovering players.

I'd say he has a legit chance to make the team again. He played pretty well last year, and the injury kinda derailed his development, so I wouldn't be surprised if he continues to make appearances next to Martinez.

>95%. I think he's much more likely to start than get cut. Giants didn't draft any ILBs and only brought in one free agent - Reggie Ragland, on a minimum contract, to compete.

Ragland is more of a threat to Downs's spot than Crowder's. The only issue would be if they decide to move someone like Carter Coughlin to ILB to give him a better chance of making the roster.

a cover LB really has a shot to be a great story. Love his athleticism and aggression.
Agree.....Tae has all the tools and the opportunity to be a major

factor on our defense.

I am looking forward to seeing how he progresses with an off-season program, strength training and experience.

It will be interesting to see how Patrick uses him this year.

Thanks for sharing this piece! Love it!
Crowder was excellent as a rookie last year

And what a great story. Hope he stays as motivated and I think he is our starter next to Martinez. I know Carter got some looks there before the injury so it will be interesting to see how he comes back from that injury as well. Tae and Martinez made a great duo out here and really complimented each other, rare to see a Vet have so much confidence and trust in a rookie like that.

A side note, FlemLo has a great video on Plaxico as well if you haven’t seen it I recommend. I like his stuff as he really highlights a players origins well and covers guys that many don’t really talk about.
Thanks for the link

I respectfully disagree. Crowder has a substantial amount of work to do in coverage. He was pretty rough last year. He had a 75% completion percentage against and a 96% passer rating against, at over 10 YPC.

The one pretty soft spot for the Giants was coverage in the middle of the field last year.
Crowder was impressive last season
Jay on the Island : 5/6/2021 1:00 pm : link
There was a very noticeable difference in athleticism when Crowder replaced Downs and Mayo. He is still raw considering he is still new to the LB position but he does have a solid upside that you don't typically see in a late round pick. I am not suggesting that he is going to be a star but if he improves in coverage and gets stronger he could be a suitable starter next to Blake Martinez.

I would be surprised if Crowder doesn't win the second starting ILB spot but I wouldn't expect him to play every snap. I think he will play 50-70% percent of the snaps but he will likely come off the field more due to the Giants impressive DB depth.

Yep, good post. Noticeable difference with Crowder.

And Blake Martinez is a fan as well...
