Agreed. His shots towards the Giants are below the belt and completely unwarranted. (ie. the accusations that the Giants are a racist organization because they chose Jones over HOFer Haskins)
Two of my favorite Giants defensive plays against the Eagles:
talking to a Vikings fan. He said the Giants had "no shot" to win that game. It was great seeing him afterwards;)
Yeah a friend and guy I worked with was a Vikes fan. He was ribbing me the whole week that the Giants had no shot, and I 100% agreed with him... lol. Plus as someone else said I was also horribly scarred from that loss in 1997. That 2000 NFCCG was easily the most unexpected domination by the Giants aside from maybe the 1986 NFCCG.
I attended that championship game vs the Vikings with Kerry's HS Coach
I moved down to PA in 1992 and happened to be managing Jerry Slemmer's wife in my department at work. Jerry would come to see her at work now and then and she introduced me to him because she knew I was a huge Giants fan.
Jerry was actually drafted by the John Madden Oakland Raiders but never really amounted to anything in the pro game. However, he coached the mammoth Wilson HS program here in the Reading, PA area for years. It was that reason Kerry's father rented a small apartment in the Wilson district so Kerry could attend the school.
Anyway, my buddy couldn't or didn't want to go to the game and mailed me the tickets. I mentioned this to Kathy (Jerry's wife) and she told me he would love to go and see Kerry play an NFL game. He saw him at Penn State a number of games but hadn't seen him in an NFL game yet.
So, we drove to the stadium and took our seats. Jerry wanted Kerry to do well, but he was not optimistic for our chances vs. the powerful Viking offensive machine. Me....I was always optimistic.
Anyway, the funny thing....is that after Kerry threw that TD pass to Ike up the seam, Jerry told me that was right out of the Wilson playbook and it was Kerry's go to pass when they needed a big play.
Some folks around us overheard Jerry talking and soon he was the center of attention in section 112! LOL.
When it became apparent that it was going to be a rout, the stadium was virtually a party! Jerry and I had a number of beers bought for us by fans and it was clear he was very proud!
Jerry and his wife moved out to Arizona so he could coach at the college ranks, but have lost touch with him.
Kerry really didn't have it vs. Baltimore in that SB, but man he was very talented and gave us a day to remember that day v. Minnesota!
RE: Chris Carter still Butthurt over that thrashing
The stadium felt like it was bouncing like a trampoline. I agree with others. The best game I've ever attended. I went to that superbowl too in Tampa (only one I've been to). That one wasn't as pleasant.
had a column the day after the Vikings game, re-capping all the gameday atmosphere. He was standing in the tunnel with the retired Giants; LT, Carson, etc. Vikings walk past them to go on the field for warmups and LT says "They're about to get their asses kicked."

The funny part was. He was initially trying to play it down and say it should be a good game, etc. He then came back over to me later and basically said, nah, Giants don't have a chance....
Toomer was hurt and on the fence if he was going to play, and Sean Payton during the week told him "These are the worst D backs i've ever seen on film"

He's a loser who no one likes nor listens to, who cares. 41-0

Pretty cool story! Kerry was surgical that day. Kerry didn't fully get his due from giants fans. He was the best qb we had in some time and was masterful that game. He unloaded an absolute cannon of a throw one regular season game to Toomer - maybe against the Rams? I don't remember but I always liked Kerry. I was happy he had another deep run with the Titans late in his career.

Agreed, Collins will always have a soft spot from me because he brought us back out of the depths of terrible QB play. I really wanted the Giants to build the OL around him. Funny how the end of Eli's reign I felt exactly the same way. And now our OL is a question mark again (still).
...I was on the escalator up during Dixon's TD to open Eagles. For the Vikings game, and when Greg Comella caught that TD. Wow!!!
Does anyone remember the 4th quarter? The stadium was almost exhausted just waiting for the game to end because the whipping was done. Jason Garrett was in there at the end.
Joe Montgomery got the ball almost every play that drive if my memory serves me correctly. The score could have easily been 68-Zip if the Giants wanted it to. What an absolute @ss whoppin' that was.
I had the guy dressed like Mel Hein sit next to me for about a half hour. Seats right behind the visitor bench. Camera turns around and gets a shot of us for a solid few seconds (which is a lot for TV capturing fans). My voice mail box was full by the time I got to the car after the game.
Regarding the game itself... everything just worked for us that day. Special teams, defense, every pay on offense, etc. It was a day when execution, luck and misfortune for the opponent all were on our side.
It would have be great if the 2000 season ended that day versus
a deer in the headlights and embarrassed the shit out of this fan, I could NEVER, EVER go back to the “Sehorn” game or the near perfect, if not perfect, drubbing of the Vikes’ games..
Couldn't speak for a day afterwards, from all the yelling!
I've told this story before. The Giants were about ready to drop out of the playoffs during the season, and the team allowed season ticket owners to give the tickets back for re-selling in order to get their money back or use the refund for next season. That resulted in a ton of younger, more drunk (or stoned...the elevators were puff stacks, as I remember), and LOUDER fans!
The place was rocking before the kickoff, after the Air Force Jets buzzed by. No one sat until Halftime, and with the towels it was a perfect college day atmosphere. Best part was Wellington's "painted mud" speech afterwards...just an amazing day!
Also...my lower level ticket (near the corner where Toomer scored) was only FORTY FIVE DOLLARS! For the NFL Championship! That's parking money these days....
Watching in a room of Philly fans who were bitter from the week before. These were not college kids but local meatballs who didn't have a goddamn future. My cheering started out fairly reserved and with caution. But as we poured it on I was going fucking nuts to a likely obnoxious level. I think they were just stunned that this psychopath was pounding beers, cheering louder than they ever had and found it kinda funny.
I was in the same spot with same guys for 02 9ers playoff game though. THAT was difficult.
Have had season tickets in my family since 1981, but I personally had never been to a Super Bowl. We were informed by the Giants a few days before the Vikings game that we were selected for 2 tickets if the Giants win the NFC Championship game. Knowing how explosive the Vikings offense was, my brother and I didn't have the highest of hopes, but we went and put 2 airline tickets on hold Saturday night - great price ($120 RT from NJ to Florida) - and we had 24 hours to confirm. The game turned out to be the greatest annihilation I had ever witnessed as a fan. As the Giants wrapped up the victory, bro and I looked at each other and said "We're going to the Super Bowl!" We couldn't celebrate too long at the stadium since we had to go home to confirm the plane tickets (no smartphones then) and search for a hotel room. With a 5-month-old child at home and 2 more kids under 6, my wife wasn't as thrilled, but it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I wish the Super Bowl turned out better, but we did have a great weekend along with cousins also got 2 tickets.
That was the most unexpectedly dominant game I have ever witnessed.
Can't wait to share something like this with my kids one day. Thanks for posting.
Agreed. His shots towards the Giants are below the belt and completely unwarranted. (ie. the accusations that the Giants are a racist organization because they chose Jones over HOFer Haskins)
And I'll always say that there is nothing like the NFC Championship game at home. That was my favorite game ever attended.

He hates the Giants with a passion and will never, ever let it go. It's awesome, couldn't happen to a more miserable person.

Same here, Dad and I. A memory I will never forget. 3rd row, Dixon came right at us.
