It's opening day. You are facing NYG and everyone is healthy.
How do you approach defending our offense?
You have OUR defense to work with.
If it's me, Bradberry on KG all day and focus on Barkley still until Jones shows he can make me pay for it.
What would you do? How do you think teams will approach stopping us this year?
(You can pick another D if you want)
Test each tackle, test the interior, see what pressure you can generate with and without blizting.
And always, swat at the ball before tackling DJ - see if he's made improvements there
Yes. I like it. Still viewed as a weak spot for us unfortunately. Coaches and GM think otherwise. Time will tell.
I like the secondary match up, but think Barkley will still be a matchup problem for LB's. Assuming this is man.

The more I think about it, because I said opening day, testing the o-line seems like the way to go at first. Particularly Hernandez or Lemieux laterally.
That team had 3 good WRs (Nicks/Cruz/Manningham) a 2-way TE (Ballard) and good RBs (Jacobs/Bradshaw). The OLine was just OK. They used a balanced approach, and Eli stirred the drink with incredible QB play.
The Giants now have 3 goods WRs (Golladay/Toney/Shepard), 2-way TE (Rudolph) and RB (Barkley). The OLine is just OK - but the potential to play very well in any given game. Balanced O. It's up to Jones how good we'll be - but he's got the pieces around him to win a Super Bowl.
In the defensive backfield, Xavien Howard sticks to Golladay like glue, Byron Jones to Slayton. Jason McCourty takes the slot, Eric Rowe and Brandon Jones are the safeties.
Good choice on D, they showed they can handle explosive offenses in the SB when the O-line is not up to par.
Agree with all. I'm a fan of Jones. The time is fast approaching where we know if we have the right guy. Respect is earned right? What I would hate to see happen is have our OL and/or injuries ruin the season leaving us with more questions than answers. Fingers crossed.
Linebacker: Anthony Hitchens as the SAM, Willie Gay or rookie Nick Bolton as the WILL or MIKE depending on what's needed
Defensive backs: Charvarius Ward, Bashaud Breeland at outside corner and L'Jarius Sneed as the nickel; Ward on Slayton, Breeland on Golladay, Sneed on whoever's the slot receiver. Dirty Dan Sorensen at Free Safety, Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathiew as the strong safety; might cover Barkley.

Alternatively, Jarran Reed comes in for Nnadi on passing downs.
Plus, I'm rolling coverage over to KG to force DJ to go elsewhere.
But ultimately I'm begging DJ to beat me and almost exclusively from the pocket. And mostly outside the hashes.
Yeah, I've been focusing on what other teams would be putting against us on pass defense. On that front I give more thought trying to figure out front four/rushbackers than defensive backs.
Force Daniel Jones to beat you from pocket on third and long in first half.
Get lead.
With lead, start looking for more quick throws from Daniel Jones on first down to keep 3rd down manageable.
Ease up on run defense and start mixing up coverage looks.
Have D-Line start putting hands up and everybody play a little tighter on coverage and wait for the mistake.
Send occasional slot or corner blitz to frustrate Jones.
After win, shake hands and have a cold beer...
Its up to the OL/pass blocking to hold up a little on the blitzes, the WR's to get separation, and the QB to hit them and also buy a little time. All 3 of these things have not happened for a few years now. Once we show we can hurt them playing this D, they will back off which will open the game up for Barkley
Cool.
Did you read the OP?

Still haven't read the OP?

Still going even though you clearly haven't read the OP?
Going for a 4th try without reading the OP. Bravo!
So Yes, I did read the OP.
Burn teams enough, and they will stop blitzing. Toney is going to be a huge factor in the offense because of his ability to get open quick, run bubble screens/jet sweeps, and YAC.
Having someone who can turn a five yard pass into a major gain affects the way defenses play you.
Quote:
Line up Aaron Donald against Shane Lemieux. Lemieux isn't great at pass protection by any means, so put your best inside pass rusher against a guy who has that as a weakness. Floyd against Matt Peart/Nate Solder. Solder wasn't good in 2019, another possible weak link on the outside. Rotate in Earnest Brown IV as the edge opposite Floyd and Bobby Brown III as the nose to occupy two blockers, no use getting him hurt celebrating a sack. Troy Reeder as the middle blitzer. For man responsibilities in the backfield, put your best corner on the best receiver; Ramsay on Golladay, Troy Hill on Slayton. Darious Williams on the slot.
Going for a 4th try without reading the OP. Bravo!
If you're not going to do more than criticize me for actually following the OP's instructions (read the bottom of the OP) and personally attack me whenever I talk about defense, Get. Lost.
So Yes, I did read the OP.
No, he said you have OUR defense to work with.
Based on this and your 3rd (or was it 4th?) mock draft thread where you tried to suggest trading #11 for #50 STRAIGHT-UP, I'm going to assume that you're either not all the way present, or that you're here specifically to troll the board.
Feel free to admit to either.

Look at the writing in parentheses at the very bottom of the OP, he says that posters can use another defense.
test the offensive line anyway possible. Blitzes, Stunts, etc ....
Buddy Ryan is dead but, how about hiring Mike Singletary to run the "46" defense hybrid to see what our OL is made of?
Yes, I know they re-wrote the rule book making it harder for defenses but,....
I would just design a very aggressive game plan and make the Giant's OL beat us. If they can hold their blocks for Jones to pass and/or open holes for the RBs (Barkley) to run. Then I get more conservative on D. Something like that.
