Prior to Friday’s game against the Nationals, the Yankees recalled third baseman/outfielder Miguel Andújar from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and optioned right-hander Albert Abreu to Triple-A. The move to recall Andújar comes after third baseman Gio Urshela exited Thursday’s 7-4 loss to the Astros with a knee injury sustained on a diving stop in the eighth inning. Urshela is expected to undergo an MRI. Andújar finished second to Angels’ two-way star Shohei Ohtani in the 2018 American League Rookie of the Year Award voting (Gleyber Torres was third) after hitting .297 with 27 homers, 47 doubles, 92 RBIs and an .855 OPS over 149 games. |
I love this kid. What a GD catch.
I don't know what that has to do with my belief that working Andujar into the lineup is a good hedge against bringing Voit back before he is really ready.
Gary goes bye bye.
3-2
Voit is coming back Tuesday. He has been playing since Monday. What difference does it make to play in SWB or the Bronx?
Meanwhile Frazier can fly
Thought that was gone by Stanton.
He fouled off the first pitch.
Maybe move him to 4 in the order. Idk. Something has to change.

Gary Sanchez...he doesn't even foul off a pitch anymore...

Weirdest team batting. Someone will start to hit and someone will stop. This is crazy with Judge. Everyone goes through slumps, but he is missing miserably, missing meatballs. He is too good to be doing this.

My point was that he found a pitch straight back. He's not missing by much. But then he misses by a ton. You're right, it's weird. I think he'll break out soon.
He sure loves these soft-tossers.
Has to be close to a dozen...
Theres been at least 6 or 7 so far. Charmed life for Corbin
It's just bad for the game. The league is hitting about .230.
We need to kill the shifting and the ability of players to walk out on to the field with cheat-sheets.
Give me Paulie, CC and Ruocco every night. Throw Leiter and Coney in there with Ruocco every so often. That's my ideal.
I just don't enjoy Kay and Flaherty. They suck the joy out of the game for me.

Shit, I have better idea - just use a pitcher and a catcher. Then we can have lots of hits.

it is the advanced stats that have sapped the entire league of hundreds of base hits. We can gripe about how boring the three outcome ABs are but when you are getting robbed because the defense is positioned perfectly - changing from pitch to pitch - you get it.

I'll take that over 4 players in the OF moving around like this is some kind of video game.
4-3
Loasiga not sharp with any of his pitches tonight.

I don't miss Cone's constant anecdotes about spin rate, math and regurgitation of numbers other people have calculated. I needed a break from that shit. Nice relaxing Friday night game. Kay and O'Neill are quiet which is nice. Pauly is on his phone anyways.

Kay is terrible. Company man Bullshit spinner.
Flaherty is about as interesting as a wet fart. And that lisp is just horrendous.
7-3
so much for our vaunted BP.
Just giving the game away now.
9-3
Every bit as bad an inning as it reads.
Shrink the strike zone, remove all position players from the field of play and force pitchers to field without a glove.
Making baseball great again.
11-3
One of Judge or Stanton is going to be gone within 2 years, and it won't be Stanton because of the contract. Similar players, both injured often and streaky. No need to have 2 of them. Judge either gets traded or leaves when he becomes a FA.

Needs a day off against Scherzer, swinging and coming up
with a lot of air, bad matchup.
Boy, that was an ugly 8th inning last night, just wow.
On to the next game.
You know there’s an issue when Wade freakin Miley is throwing no no’s. Pathetic display of hitting league wide.
Analytics baby!
