Of upper management? A lot of people are talking about Dolan butting in, but you simply cannot deny that many talented, young players are just not developing at the right pace.
Gotta believe Quinn gets another chance given the run the team made despite the adversity they faced....and that pisses me off
Quinn appears to be a direct problem with the players
He needs to go. Don’t know if they will fire him. Larry Brooks brought out in his article that the Rangers were 682 out of 685 team-seasons this year. Fourth worse in recorded history. Over the last three years the Rangers were fourth worse, 34th worse, and 50th worse. It was also revealed that Laffy had the lowest TOI for a overall first round pick this century. This falls on Quinn.
Not sure how I feel about Quinn. But, I don’t remember seeing a team other than one totally committed to rebuilding or an expansion team, having this many very young players playing prominent roles. Laggy has not put up,the numbers some expected him too but for major parts of the season, he was playing with kids his own age. Except for a handful of experienced players, several of whom had their own bullshit this year, this has to be one of the youngest teams that’s ever played. But, there appears to be a ton of talent at all levels plus more in the minors. If management doesn’t screw this up as Dolan appears likely to,do, this club is going to be very good in the not to distant future.

I think Gauthier is a bit of a head scratcher given who else is getting ice time, but I tend to agree with you. It looked like there was quite a bit of ice time for the youngins. Laf hasnt exactly jumped off the screen either. Would love to have seen more of Gauthier playing with Kravtsov. Those two could compliment each other quite well.
I dont really know what to think. I was very happy when we hired JD and also surprised at how slowly things seem to be moving for the rooks and young guys. On a positive note, Kaako, Kravtsov, Fox and Miller appear to be the goods going forward.

I’m not saying they won’t be very good next year. I believe they need more grit and a better coach
I think Laff would’ve been A LOT more productive if he wasn’t stuck
And a few of the other kids is that they didn’t play defense especially early in the year and they still sometimes don’t do enough back checking. It takes kids a few years to get accustomed to the big leagues and more so in the playoff type hockey they have been playing the past few weeks. I agree the club needs more toughness but I would hate giving up on some of the kids that look like they have really bright futures.
comments about the Rangers play in the first period. They said the Rangers were playing like a team looking to go home. Expected more. What did they expect? Numerous injuries, lots of rookies. Score was 0-0. ??? I think the effort is there. The new GM is in the building. Don’t you think they know that? Oh, by the way. Their winning now.
source? Torts II on tap? Rangers to make another run at Jack Eichel as rumors about a John Tortorella return grows - ( New Window )
I'd be absolutely stunned if they re-hire Torts. I mean the guy was fired after three consecutive playoff appearances. Dolan may have loved him, but I don't think Sather did.
goat fuck that this last week was the season ends with a feel good moment. A lot rests on Drury's shoulders this off-season but it's nice to see LAF, Kravty, KK, Miller and Fox taking big steps forward.

I loved Torts. But wouldnt Kreider pretty much have to get traded? Didnt they hate each other?
Shocked really. We were really undermanned and to score 5 goals against the Bruins just shows you how much talent this team has when healthy and shows you why Quinn needs to be fired into outter space.

Zero chance Quinn is back.
He is not an NHL coach. Not a coincidence Rangers played some of their best hockey when Quinn was not behind the bench

The worst thing is not only is he not an NHL coach, he's terrible developing players. Today in the last game of the season, a meaningless game where half the team is injured he still played Blackwell on the PP1 over Lafreniere.
but he’s not wrong this time.
Having SO many kids and not enough vets to help them grow was on management. Quinn clearly, was not the right coach, but management didn’t seem to realize it. It’s one thing to accumulate a ton of skill talent, but it doesn’t mean the team was good OR well thought out.
In his presser, Dolan gave credit for accumulating the talent, but I think he was generally alluding to the above. Bringing In Messier, to work with Drury would not be a bad thing. They then need to bring in a coach where everyone has the same vision on how to build a “team”.
That’s what’s going on with the Knicks I think Dolan wants the same setup with the Blue Shirts. Slather needs to stay out of the way though, he’s not helping anything by sticking his nose in.

V, while I may agree with the last part of this, I disagree with the 'zero', and not just because zero is an absolute that is difficult to achieve. I'd put the odds at closer to even, not because I think he's a good coach at this level or for this team, or that he pulled all the right levers. Clearly there are lots of reasons to say he's not, he didn't.
Drury, the team's new GM, brought Quinn in by most accounts. For Drury to give Quinn the axe throws shade on Dolan's judgment: you fire the Pres and GM of a team in transition but promote the guy who made a bad coaching hire? Who did Quinn point to near the top of his post-game yesterday, congratulating him on his first win as.....GM? Drury, of course. And to my subjective eye, Quinn looked too complacent Thursday night and almost smug yesterday afternoon: I'd wager it's not beyond probability Drury has already whispered that he's safe, for another year. It may not be what we want to hear, but it's far from zero chance.

It will be really disappointing if Quinn is back next year. He's in way over his head.
The other three goals were scored by a 19 year-old and two 21 year-olds. 20 year-old Zac Jones had an assist.
Almost!

As long as they bring Howden back, I’m happy

The determining factor in Chris Drury’s massive David Quinn decision - ( New Window )

The Rangers have made changes in the front office. They will make changes in the lineup. The smart money is on a change behind the bench as well.

Not a big deal and not relevant to the Rangers the Bruins weren't cup champions in 2012-2013, they were finalists but the Blackhawks were champions.
