Doncic is a great player, but the constant histrionics are exhausting. Just play basketball man. Maybe Cuban can hire someone to teach him to not react to every call in the offseason.

Wonder how much interest Rose is going to get in FA. He's going to be 33 going into next season, and I think this stretch has earned him a nice little payday.
Obviously money talks, but I wonder how much he really wants to change teams again. He was absolutely miserable in Detroit. The Thibs connection seems to be the healthiest thing for him.

Payton like Eisley is a master at doing the little intangible things that don't show up on a box score but their teammates appreciate. I consider him the glue that is keeping this team afloat

"The incumbent starter Payton has been the absolutel worst on the entire team at -84 through 59 games. That number is especially jarring considering how much success the Knicks have had this season. Taking things in a vacuum, it would seem as through they’ve been winning both because of Rose and in spite of Payton."

I think Thibs is stuck at this point, team is winning at high clip and he simply cant jist change the lineup..
Plus Quick and Burks are out right now..
Playing rose half the 1st and entire 2nd and then hakf the 3rd and entire 4th shows what trust Thibs has in Payton and its none

In my "serious" opinion, Payton is a solid backup point guard with good defense but limited offense playing against the other team's starter. He's a role player holding the spot warm either for the next young draft pick or free agent signing.
Which is why I am not as frustrated by his flaws as some are especially since I remember the days of when opposing point guards would circle the calendar for Knick games since the backup guard starting back then wasn't even a competent defender much less a good one.
I was hoping for a little space but ATL has 4 very winnable games.
Knicks will need to go 3-1 to grab the 4 seed.

Not that I even want to think about the off-season yet, but I am more and more thinking they should just add a player in FA if they are good enough, then just continue developing the players we have. If we cannot find or trade for that transcendent player, maybe we need to develop him. Keep working with the kids. If you can get a up n coming star like Ball ( if you see him that way) then do it. But I don't know if I want to trade anyone other than filler. RJB, Quick, and Randle ain't going anywhere. Even Obi, I don't know if I wanna move him either.

Stats don't get anymore powerful than that. Wow
While it is certainly the case that Quickly may never become a full-blown starting PG, I fail to see how a currently healthy Quickly rotating with Rose and also overlapping with him at times would be worse than what Payton provides. Indeed, despite Thib's well-reputed disdain for playing rookies, there is at least the possibility that Quickly playing some of Payton's minutes would have improved as a facililtator at a faster pace than has been the case behind Rain Man.
I so hope that Thibs kicks Rain Man to the curb by next season, but I have my doubts. Thibs merges greatness as a coach with world-class stubbornness. Rain Man falls on the wrong side of this pairing.

Those stats reflect what we all see. Sometimes I'll take note of the score when Rose comes in for Payton. Quite often we're down by X. Then in a short time, we're up by Y. Hmmmm.
Rose is playing out of his mind.
It looks like he has figured out his game for the later part of his career.
If he has a good off-season I think he can be a starting PG next year.

Washington has played some of the best ball in the league the past month. Even if Beal is out they're not going into Atlanta and laying down for 2 straight games. Westbrook is playing on a whole other level. They are 1 game back of fading Charlotte for 8th place and 2 bites at the play-in pie. Those 2 games will be a war.
Bringing back the depth and Lowry. Does that make us a contender with the draft picks? Or do we need another big piece?
Noel is going to be an expensive depth piece. When healthy,I think he is a starter.

No. The Knicks are not title contenders with Lowry replacing Payton and a pick in the 20's.
we famously almost traded for Lowry EIGHT years ago. And when I say almost, the deal was apparently done but was killed by Dolan at the finish line. That's a pretty big "what if" as a Melo/Lowry combo would have been interesting.
While it doesn't make them a contender, I would love this move. Replacing him with Payton makes them significantly better and fits this team well. Just overpay him big for one year. He's still a really good player.

Oh, I'm completely in on signing Lowry. He improves the team. But this team isn't a soon to be 36 year old Lowry from contending for a ring.

Eight years ago kyle lowry wasn't a big deal. He really had a randle-like career growth after that. To hear him tell it, he was out of shape and didn't take it seriously.
Lakers game would be gravy at this point
