How tough is the Giants' 2021 schedule?

M.S. : 5/10/2021 10:14 am

From Giants.com

"Based on combined winning percentages from the 2020 season, the Giants have the eighth-easiest strength of schedule next season. The Giants' 2021 opponents went 128-142-2 (.474) in 2020. The Philadelphia Eagles (.430) will head into next season with the "easiest" lineup, while the Pittsburgh Steelers (.574) have the "hardest" schedule in the NFL."

Bears

Happy to see the Bears with a tough schedule. I hope that Rodgers stays with the Packers. They will not beat the Bears twice without him.
Football teams vary from year to year based on free agents and the draft and from week to week based on injuries so who knows.
As is the case
Daniel in MI : 5/10/2021 10:26 am : link
every year, these are not meaningful. Teams improve and regress each year. Dak healthy makes Dallas a different team, for example. Some teams that looks ferocious now will underperform and/or have key injuries. This is like college football preseason rankings.
This is misleading
Bruner4329 : 5/10/2021 10:35 am : link
The only reason we have this rating is because we have 6 games in our division against teams that had poor records last year. If you look at our games outside the division they are not that easy.

Meant to add 5 road games outside division are KC, SD, TB, NO and Miami. The 6th is against Chicago.
I love the schedule.....with both KC and Tampa ....we can guage .
George from PA : 5/10/2021 10:38 am : link
We can see how we measure against the best....

The key like always...is how we do in division....

The difference between us and the others in division is usually minor.
Something no one seems to mention
k2tampa : 5/10/2021 10:54 am : link
when it comes to scheduling. Half of the teams have a huge advantage (or disadvantage) by playing one extra game at home (or on the road). It appears all teams in a division have same number of home games. But imagine the Giants are in the race to host a playoff game (or, dare we hope) the best record in the conference, and the team they must finish ahead of has an extra home game as compared to the Giants' extra road game. Talk about an unbalanced schedule.
I like our schedule so far:
Marty in Albany : 5/10/2021 10:54 am : link
1. We don't play the Jets. (Playing them is unlucky. I'm superstitious.)
2. We have only one game on the west coast
3. We have three home games against teams that may have to deal with some form of jet lag. Denver, Vegas, LA.

They are alternating between conferences. Extra home game for afc this year, nfc next year, and so on. So your scenario will not happen.
Eagles and Bears
crock77 : 5/10/2021 11:04 am : link
Pulling for Eagles week 1

This can change fast, but I agree, good to see the Bears near the top. Could easily turn into a top 10 pick for us.

But you also have to consider that it can have an effect on draft positions. An 8-9 team that lost the extra game on the road will obviously pick before a 9-8 team that won the extra game at home. If the sites of the the extra games had been reversed, might the outcome be different? Which makes it advantageous for the Giants that the Bears play the extra game on the road.

Go take a look at whether the Jets were on the schedule for each of our last two Super Bowl victories.

To counter that we play KC away which is a loud and tough place to play. the dome in NO, at TB who are Super Bowl Champs and at SD.

if its eagles it can only be at home wk 1

Figures to be harder than 2020
Go Terps : 5/11/2021 5:17 pm : link
They faced 6 backup QBs and played in a division with no teams over .500. 5 of their 6 division games were against a team dealing with a QB issue (the second Philly game they were fully mired in rumors swirling around Wentz).
