I’ve stayed there a few times. Good casino, good food, decent enough (for me) bar and nightlife scene. I will caveat this all by saying it’s been a few years since I’ve been there, but I always enjoyed myself.
Palazzo is the best IMO, large suites for rooms, tao, samba sushi, tons of restaurants,
I did stay at the Wynn too which is beautiful.
Cosmo is tiny but nice. I got a suite there - like the Hangover suite because they were out of regular rooms.
Most of the "hotel" side of the casinos are all nice, it's probably easier to say where I'd avoid (excalibur, treasure island, luxor, circus circus (unless you want a steak), and some more.
and have stayed in most of the hotels. At this point, I usually only stay in the Wynn/Encore
Both have nice pools and are connected, the food is great (they have a fantastic steakhouse and seafood restaurant), the rooms are very nice and if you're into the nightlife scene, Xs is a premier club.
It's also a great location. You want to be in that Venetian/Wynn/Ceasers/Belagio area.
If I'm going on a budget (friends need a place for a bachelor party that accommodate multiple budgets) I always suggest Mirage.
Venetian is also very nice, but I always felt like it was a little too confusing to get around and had a lot of kids running around so it was never for me.
Belagio and Ceasers are higher priced but also very nice and staples of the strip.
I have stayed in almost every hotel on the strip...
and I have to agree with the Mirage. It is not the nicest hotel at all and it is dated. However, you get that vegas feel that you simply do not get with the newer hotels.
It is also centrally located. Mandalay Bay is just too far from everything and I have an issue with their cooling system in the heat of the summer. Some of the other elaborate hotels are nice but you have to walk through a gigantic shopping mall to get from your room to the street.
In the end, you will be going from one hotel/casino to the next during your stay. So, just find the one that is as central as possible (for walking purposes) with the best nightly rate.
If you gamble, head to the old Vegas downtown or go off strip.
one the "best" is really tough. That would likely be the Wynn along the strip. But I'm a Harrah's member, so I usually end up staying at Paris or Planet Hollywood because the rooms are comped and are nice enough, both in comfort and location.
If I'm paying, I actually prefer Aria, but I just can't reconcile paying for any room if I can stay for free.
stayed at the Mirage. I would recommend that to anybody. It was pretty nice, up to date, very clean and lots of eating choices within. Plus, perfectly located for walking the strip.
off strip attractions, 13 mile scenic drive, outdoor downdown Summerlin mall, Vegas Golden Knights practice facility open to the public with restaurant, bar and clothing shop.
Siena Golf course and Bistro, best breakfast around , real maple syrup.
Get a feel for what it's like living out here, Vegas is not the strip. Many fabulous restaurants off the strip with much lower prices, also BYOB, no corking fee at some.
Echo and Rig in Trivoli Village is one. excellent food.
On strip the Encore and Belligio, avoid the MGM super crowded
Rent a car you can go to the strip from red rocks in 10 to 15 minutes.
Also favorite show is Mystere at treasure Island. google it all
Thanks. We're looking at some dates now. My cousin and his family are out in Henderson and I haven't been to Vegas since the pandemic. I'd love to get there this Fall. Also need to check what the poker schedule is when it gets back to somewhat normal.
the tips about Red Rocks is spot on. Great area to stay in. Great scenery and you'll feel like you're close enough to do things while still having space off the Strip.
I like the darkness/vibe of the casinos. Wynn is just so bright on the casino floor. Plus the ladies love the Cosmo so the sightseeing there wins.
Who said cosmo is tiny? It has 3,000 rooms, LOL
Maybe it seemed small because there isn't a lot of bars/restaurants compared with the bigger hotels, we had a conference there and come time for happy hour or dinner there just wasn't a lot of options like the Venetian
Venetian/Pallazo combined have over 7 or 8,000 rooms.

you may have missed the third floor with all the restaurants? Agreed venetian is obviously way larger - it has a mall between palazzo and venetian
and also spent plenty of time hanging out in the ones I didn't stay in. Best is a very subjective category. I've stayed at Cosmo 2x and the rooms cannot be beat for the same price point when you factor in the balcony and location of the property. Not to mention excellent culinary options. The table limits are a usually bit steep for a casual player, but I've never stayed in a nicer place all things considered.
For value I used to love the Rio about 10 years ago, but those days are long gone.

V/P I would say has the best collection of restaurants in one (2 kinda, but they're same ownership and connected) property. And This is coming from someone who's favorite hotel is Cosmopolitan.
more than the Strip. They just revamped the Viva Vision on Fremont Street. Plenty of places to eat, gamble, etc.
I just think it's a more chill area that's not so plastic.
The newest hotel is Circa. Check out the pool and sports bet:
Three-story stadium style pool area (also detailed in the third pic):
My favorite one I've been to is/was Emeril Laggasse stadium in the basement of the Palazzo. You can almost always get a seat, very comfortable set up, excellent food, quick to get drinks, good stadium style seating and TV's.
I heard it closed though due to pandemic, so I'll be looking for somewhere new. I have family out there and work conferences a few times a year so I get out there regularly - may check out the one you recommended.
to be at World of Concrete next month and plan on staying at Circa. But I'm also contemplating cancelling. Really not trying to travel and go to a f'ing conference now.
staying at the Bellagio. Got a sweet deal through Costco, oddly enough.
Have also stayed at MGM Grand, which was just ok. Also stayed once at the Flamingo, which has a great location but is a much older hotel.
When you come up for air, take your newly wed directly across the street to Mon Ami Gabi. Make a res for 3:00pm, just in time for the fountains to start. You insist on sitting outside on the balcony above the street level. People watching, fountains, sun, decent french lunch food. It is my wife's favorite lunch spot! A quiche lorranine + a caesar salad with some Cote de Rhone.
Mirage is best value in my opinion. It's nice enough and great location in the middle of the strip. I like to walk the strip and play at a few different casinos, so great location for that. Also their bar Stacks makes a killer Manhattan.
If you need a suite, the Palazzo at the Venetian is a good option for the price.

Thanks! I may just do that! I have heard good things from others about that spot.
times a year. I have stayed pretty much everywhere, here is my top 3. However I usually just go wherever I have a comp, it's nice not paying anything but a resort fee haha.
1. Palazzo/Venetian: The rooms are great and there is some excellent food options.
2. Cosmopolitan: Great rooms for the price and really nice if you get a view of the Bellagio fountains.
3. Aria: I love their casino and they have always been very good to me there.
The Venetian. Don't kill me, but I'm not a huge fan of Vegas. I've been for multiple bachelor parties, but much prefer NOLA, Nashville, Austin, etc. for weekend ragers.
To sum it up, it was horrible. Took an hour waiting in line to get our room key. Housekeeping never refreshed the room, even after calling and speaking to a human in guest services.
The bulk of the clientele was, to put it nicely, "low rent". I hate to say something like that but I've been to the hotel in previous years and it carried a decent level of class and elegance about it. Not anymore apparently.
We walked over to Venetian and it seemed ok. Not as hectic or loud. We also made our way downtown one night. Golden Nugget seemed about the same and I'd totally consider that, but stay away from Chart House restaurant. Absolutely horrid
Mainly due to Mlife comps but have never had a bad experience and the tables have always been good to me. The pool area is very nice but can get very crowded so we always get a cabana for space. Granted we always get comped so I would imagine it could be pricey. Dining is ok never been to their buffet but heard it was great. The Wynn restaurant steak house is excellent and has a cute show on the patio dining area my wife got a kick out of. I have been wanting to check out Aria for sometime now but hard to pass up free everything at Bellagio.
If you are a gambler sign up for the rewards program it’s worth it. I haven’t paid for accommodations in a casino in years.
Hotels are just a place to sleep in between Encore Beach and Omnia
stayed at Treasure Island, Flamingo Hilton, and Harrahs. For some reason I like Harrahs the best. Friends have stayed at the Venetian and Wynn and liked both.
a lot of good advice and most of the hotels mentioned are great. I've been going to LV a few times a year (except 2020) since the early 80s.
I have not seen Circa. Looking forward to it.
There's no doubt hotels like Desert Inn, The Sands and The Dunes had the Rat Pack glory days vibe that was magic. But the newer hotels that have replaced them are spectacular.
The LV Hilton which is now the Westgate had its glory days in the 70's with Elvis and 80's with Mike Tyson. The sportsbook is still great for an old school feel but the hotel is past its prime.
I don't like the location Mandelay but's it a first class hotel. The rest of that end of the strip is not for me but I'm a cranky old man and it depends on your budget.
All the top hotels near Caesars, including Caesars, are great in their own ways.
The Cosmo, Aria, Vdara are all great. Vdara has no casino so if you're in LV and don't plan to gamble but have other activities planned that will take up most of your time it's quiet. I have stayed there twice and never left the hotel.
I guess if I had to pick a favorite it would be the Venetian because it's relatively high end, every room is a suite and the location is great to walk up and down the best part of the strip even though those hotels are a longer walk than some of them look.
Lat time I went, I stayed at the Paris and I liked it. But, I was a huge (literally?) buffet person and don't know what that will be like now and going forward.
I will say that we walked through the Wynn one night (during the day it was my favorite buffet place) and I felt really uncomfortable. Like, "I don't make enough money to be in this place" uncomfortable. Just the way people were all dressed and fancy.
is at the top of my list for the overall ambience. Cosmo is modern and good casual food options. For a budget option SLS was great, though near some sketchy parts so use common sense
Heinsberg's best man: The bachelor party-- The whole night-- Things got outta control, and, uh…we lost Heinsberg.
Heinsberg's fiancée: What?
Heinsberg's best man: We can't find Heinsberg.
Heinsberg's fiancée: What are you saying? We're getting married in five hours!
Heinsberg's best man: Yeah. That's not gonna happen.
I went to the bar at the top of the Mandalay about a year after the mass shooting and it was an eerie feeling. I can’t stay there after the horrific incident
Bellagio is probably the best all-around with most action, variety of restaurants & bars, people watching and overall fun. Also feels like your in the center of everything there between a couple of other good casinos.
Mandalay Bay is insanely good if you can afford the Four Season floors at the very top of the hotel. They also have the best sports book in my view. Though the location is far down the strip so you are kind of stuck, but a very good stuck indeed.
Cosmo, Caesars Palace and Aria are good visit stops if staying elsewhere.
Staying at the Venitian, any recs for dining?? Love sushi, Italian , and breakfast
Try the oyster bar at palace station for their famous pan roast. One of the heaviest dishes I’ve tried but it was fantastic. Be prepared for a long wait
Staying at the Venitian, any recs for dining?? Love sushi, Italian , and breakfast
Sushisamba in the Palazzo (connected to the Venetian) also in the shops in between the two near the Venice
"canals" is a tiny, not too fancy Italian place called Trattoria Reggiana, excellent veal parm.

I ate at Woflgang puck's steakhouse (CUT), but to me steakhouses are almost always a solid choice - if you can't do a good steak you won't last anywhere, especially a big city though.

Haha, love that movie. This is the second marriage for both of us and I'm solidly middle aged so there's little risk of that at this point in my life. If there's a problem it's a little more likely that one or more of our college age children who are in the wedding party goes awol or needs bail money lol.

It doesn't matter though - Las Vegas has so many nice hotels there.

It means you’ve lost significantly in the past. “Welcome back.”
Not really. You get comped for the amount of time/money wagered. If you play poker, it is fairly easy to earn 3 nights free on a future visit by not only not losing any money but going home a fairly big winner.
and that with poker it’s plausible you can win over the long term and still get comps BUT it’s worth pointing out that gamblers really tend to embellish their wins and underplay their losses. This often isn’t even purely intentional and kind of runs deep.
Fun thread here and lots of good hotel advice. I stated at Bellagio and Wynn last time I was in Vegas and I’d say that both were really nice but more for a trip with the wife than for a guys weekend. Wynn almost seemed too upscale and the poker games there had too many decent players. I had more fun on prior trips staying at Caesars.

And he has access to all VIP lounges for him and all his guests (free food and drinks).
I don't think he embellishes wins and losses, he gambles a lot, but he wins a lot.
IOW it's volume based not W/L based like FMiC said
Yeah, actually it is more how much and how long you have betting. Winners get comped all the time, especially on rooms.
Why..because its all about keeping you in town betting. The longer a big winner or big loser stays, the better for the house.
