NFT: KNICKS VS LAKERS 10PM

larryflower37 : 5/11/2021 11:45 am
I know it's early but a big national double header for Knicks fans tonight.
Celts vs Heat- Go Heat...ugh.

Official Lakers report says Lebron is out but most expect him to play tonight.
Burks and Quickley are still questionable for tonight.

Big game for both teams tonight as the Lakers are a game and half behind Portland for the 6th spot.

Knicks could drop this one and still get the 4 spot if they win the last 3 at home.

Horton got two free throws on a play in which
shockeyisthebest8056 : 5/12/2021 1:08 am : link
he blatantly traveled, then they have the nerve to call a travel on Randle. Just bullshit.
Hey 3-3 on the trip
larryflower37 : 5/12/2021 1:09 am : link
Go home and take the next 3.
Heartbreaking loss but no one could shoot tonight and D.Rose willed them to stay in the game.
Great they expect me to go to sleep after that fucking debacle
Stu11 : 5/12/2021 1:09 am : link
Lose to AD having an off night surrounded by a bunch of stiffs who'd have a hard time starting for the fucking TWolves.
Bullock also had a horrible offensive game
adamg : 5/12/2021 1:09 am : link

It's all good

Win out and they're solid.

That's a tough west coast trip and they held.

Rough flight home tonight.

Rj Barrett

Was awful tonight, he looked slow and shot was awful. As soon as they called the last time out with 50 seconds left I texted my buddy…not having time outs is going to cost them.

this dude really hogs the ball at key times and cant make a simple pass when a double team comes and either turns it over or takes a shot clock violation. frustrating

Hogs the ball, who else did you want to have it? this is ehat the playoffs is , iso slow it down low scoring..

so the knicks last possession of regulation you were ok with that shit? make the pass and get a shot off. The guys an MVP candidate and I love him but he's not beyond being criticized for doing that crap every now and then

thats obviously not what im talking about. sorry i forgot he got a shot off after he caused a shot clock violation which led to nobody boxing out wes matthews leading to OT.
Yeah he got doubled
nygiants16 : 5/12/2021 1:16 am : link
and tried to move it but it was to late, who else do you want to have the ball? him and rose were the reason the game was even close
As far as we've come
Stu11 : 5/12/2021 1:17 am : link
And lord knows the very fact that I'm sng here after 1am on May 12th irate about a Knicks game is a beautiful thing. We have to find a way to have better last possessions in one possession games. Yes regulation was a good shot, but too many times this year the last possession has gone like the one in OT.
Rose needs to start

Man did we miss IQ and Burks tonight, especially late in regulation and OT. RJ would not have been on the court.

Sorry, but he didn’t just “miss” it. Watch the replay, I know it was a 24 footer but that dude was to the left by like 4 feet. It wasn’t even close

And I love RJ Barrett (and the leap he’s made this year) but there are times he gets some serious jitters and tonight was one of them.

Why was Embiid out against the Pacers
Leg of Theismann : 5/12/2021 1:24 am : link
If he’s injured I honestly missed that. Hopefully he plays against the fucking Heat
Can't fault the effort, especially
CT Charlie : 5/12/2021 1:26 am : link
considering how much energy they've put into this road trip. Too bad we couldn't seal the deal in regulation. Still, this team has a huge heart.
We have a serious problem on the boards
Leg of Theismann : 5/12/2021 1:32 am : link
We need 90s Dennis Rodman on this team do dirty work down low. Taj sometimes fills that role but we need someone better and more physically gifted ultimately. Do we think Mitchell Robinson is our big of the future?
Noel just does not have enough bulk/strength
Leg of Theismann : 5/12/2021 1:34 am : link
I love him as depth of course but I feel like a guy like Taj but better is what we need (I Love Taj don’t get me wrong but he’s not going to be the guy)

If they can make it through that trip together they can make it through anything. That trip should’ve toughened them up just at the right time, going into the playoffs but with a nice home stretch to get their bearings back. That said— I’m pissed we came within 1 rebound of finishing the trip 4-2 and only needing 2 of these last 3. 3 in a row in the NBA is always tonight regardless of opponents and even when you’re home. If I had to bet I’d say we go 2-1 , but: hopefully the Heat drop both to the Sixers and Bucks and hopefully Westbrook can get one on ATL w/ no Beal tomorrow. Sixers still haven’t locked up the 1 seed so no testing their guys luckily— hopefully Embiid plays I have no clue why he didn’t play tonight..
3 in a row is alway tough*

Laat night sucked but have to look at positive
nygiants16 : 5/12/2021 7:14 am : link
3-3 on road trip..

1 more win or Celtics loss and Knicks are in..

Heat still have to play Sixers and Bucks and Butler was hurt last night and didnt return..

Knicks own the tiebreaker over the Hawks so even if they win out unless Heat also win out, the Knicks control their own destiny..

Tonight another big night of scoreboard watching, Wizards vs Hawks and Celts play thr Cavs most likely without Kemba and Brown
Fell asleep before halftime
mfsd : 5/12/2021 7:32 am : link
Sounds like a worthy effort but a gut shot of a loss.

3-3 on a really tough west coast trip is nothing to complain about...now let’s finish the week out in a big way
I stayed up all the way to the end for that excruciating end

That was a tough, tough game. Credit to the Lakers for being a tough and willing defensive team. And AD is a good guy to have when the Knicks down the stretch strategy is "ISO Randle"

hurt so the bench is short, but I don't see why RJ deserves such a long leash when he's not playing well. It wasn't just the bricks. He had several defensive lapses and a terrible turnover in the 4th quarter on a fast break. Lately, the only shots he's hitting at a decent clip are 3s. Excluding 3s, he's shooting 29% this month.

not Thibs'
Enzo : 5/12/2021 8:59 am : link
best game IMO. Not having a timeout for the last sequence was a killer. Rose and others were visibly gassed at times. Obi and Payton are both pretty bad most of the time, but some fresh legs for a 2-3 minute stretch might have helped.

RJ was bad, but also we've seen RJ be bad and then bounce back in the second half or down the stretch. That did not happen last night, but it seems like Thibs gives RJ the oppotunity to turn things around. I'm ok with it, especially because RJ's development continuing is a key goal for the year. He'll definitely learn from last night.
what's curious
Enzo : 5/12/2021 9:25 am : link
is that RJ gets the long leash to "develop" during stretches of poor play while others do not.
It sucks...
Jan in DC : 5/12/2021 9:26 am : link
but we still have some games to play. Hope for that 4/5 seed but the team has already far exceeded all of my expectations for them this year, they're honestly just not as talented as a lot of these upper echelon teams.
Playoff scenarios are simple
nygiants16 : 5/12/2021 9:39 am : link
1 win or Boston loss Knicks clinch top 6..

All 3 teams tied after these 3 games Knicks are the 6th seed.

Knicms go 3-0 and Heat go 3-0 and Hawks 2-1 knkcks are 5th seed..

Knicks go 3-0 heat 2-1 knicks are 4th seed

I dunno. He's been really good for the past month, aside from maybe the Denver game where everyone sucked. I can't blame Thibs because he struggled for one game. From my perspective, he's been solid enough that he's really earned a long leash.

Either way, let's hope he gets back to playing well right away. Lets win out!

What others are you talking about? He gets a long leash because 1)he's shown much more than anyone else 2)Toppin gets less of a chance because he's blocked by Randle. Who would block Barrett, especially with Burks out?
Last night no Burks and No iq hurt them
nygiants16 : 5/12/2021 9:55 am : link
You could see Rose got gassed a little at the end having to control the offense every single possession, down the stretch you had 2 options in Randle and Rose and thats it..

With Burks and Iq it would of given you 2 more ball handlers and 2 more shot creators..

I don't know that he's been playing really good. The shooting is obviously improved, but there are quite a few negative plays/mental mistakes. Payton gets a ton of well deserved blame for the slow starts, but RJ is part of it as well.
I think it's fair to say he's played well overall
Greg from LI : 5/12/2021 10:04 am : link
Not great, but good, and he does seem to have a knack for making big plays in the 4th quarter. He's still got plenty of room for improvement but I think he's come a long way since last season, when I was one of his biggest critics.

That's fair. I guess I'd just say that given Quick and Burks were out, there weren't many better options available last night. Thibs might have yanked him for one of those on a different night where one or both were healthy.

I think Miami drops at least 1 game

the numbers are pretty bad. he's shooting about 32% from both 3-10 ft and 10-16 ft. Additionally, there are several times a game where he attempts a 3 off the kick out when the defender is flying towards him and there's an easy opportunity for a shot fake and then a drive. But he ALWAYS shoots the 3 there. Most of the time, I'd say that's the right play since he's proven to be an above average shooter from long range, but there's quite a few times when you can tell his feet are not set and he misses badly.

Yup we all hate Payton but Rj has been part of the problem recently as well..

Starting unit relies on Randle to create and score and Bullock to knock down open shots..

Takes Rj awhile to get into a flow
Yeah the starters are unwatchable
bceagle05 : 5/12/2021 12:13 pm : link
unless Randle and/or Bullock come out on fire, which does happen. Elf and Noel should not be starting on a good team. Thibs really should run away with Coach of the Year, with all due respect to Monty and Snyder - he's doing quite a bit of this with smoke and mirrors.

The only reason they are not down 10 right away is because of how good they are defensively
