We don’t know how good our OL is. We don’t know how good Daniel Jones is. As far as the OL they have to show me. I thought we had a solution there two years ago. Nope. One year ago. Nope. So until they prove it they aren’t good enough. As far as Jones goes I’m completely confident in him being a good QB which means absolutely zilch. He needs to go out there and prove it as well which won’t be easy if the OL isn’t good enough. The entire season rests on these two things. If they are answered in the affirmative then we certainly are good enough as the rest of the team is both plenty talented and reasonably deep.
Very few are with no if's and a few aren't even if all the "if's" fall into place.
IMO the Giants have three "if's"
1. If they aren't decimated by injuries. That applies to almost every team if not all.
2. If Daniel Jones plays well enough to be considered a top half of the league QB. That means 15th or better. Last year he was bottom 10 and closer to 30 than 20.
3. If the Oline plays well enough that Jones is a top 15 NFL QB.
The Giants have improved the top of their roster and the bottom of their roster. They spent a lot of money on 3 players in FA and drafted a gamebreaker on offense and a pass rusher on defense. If all five play to the level expected that will greatly improve the top part of the roster (I know L Williams was on the team last year but he had no contract for 2021).
IMO most of the remaining free agents that were signed and the drafts picks along with the UDFAs will replace the bottom 10-15 who were below replacement players that were on the 2020 roster.
I think it's a very exciting time to be a Giant fan. They're going to need good health and some football luck to make the playoffs but I expect a much better team than last year.
The Giants were within a whisker of winning the NFC East last year
I ve seen enough From Daniel Jones to know he won’t be the reason they don’t make it. I just don’t get the narrative surrounding him.
This kid all through college and his first 2 years as a pro he has lined up at quarterback for the inferior team in the majority of his starts, won’t be the case this season.
Specials will have a emphasis so I expect better performance.
I think all of last years playoff teams at least 375 total yards and 25 ppg. Giants had about 300 and 17.5 ppg. There should be no excuse with all they added and Barkley back that they can't get to the that baseline. I think they will have to win the East to get in.
they should be a strong contender for a spot but I don't know if they are there yet. Really what it comes down to is the defense getting better at getting stops on 3rd down and the offense scoring more points. Less turnovers from Jones and the trio of him/Barkley/Golladay staying relatively healthy. As long as Jones progresses, I'll feel really good going into 2022 with those extra draft picks.
I was expecting this to be, maybe not rebuilding year, but maybe "maturation" year and starting in 2022 we make our run.
But the offseason they had, surely that has to change expectations. They made a statement that they are not showing up to compete, they are coming to win. They are gunning for the division. If they do not win the division, I would say they underachived. If they don't make the playoffs, I would say that is a fail, based on the offseason moves.

Yes!
We're a fucking juggernaut that wil be unstoppable
I think you[re missing the point... I think the argument should be "if this is a superbowl team".?
This team is loaded. EVen the depth is very good and they are about as injury proof as you can get.

Murderer!
It is put up or shut up time for Jones now.

Are we a Superbowl level playoff team? No. Can we sneak into a playoff game by winning our division? Yes...it's possible.

If the offensive line and Jones are at least average, our defense can win us the division.

Yes!
Can’t stop them, only hope to contain ‘em...
This is the enthusiasm I like to see!
And if they are right about their OL and if their CB's come through - absolutely- YES!

My sentiments exactly.
Alex Wilson makes ryanmkeane look like GoTerps. At least when Anthony Rivardo is on you get some balance.

I don't know Klaatu -- I don;t think you meant it that way, but that was pretty much a complement

What I meant was that Wilson is always overwhelmingly optimistic, and his analysis is always skewed that way.
Frankly, I think much of it is unrealistic.
How's that for not commiting?
I think we have some talent on D
