NFT: MLB recommends A’s look at relocation options

Vegas, Nashville, Portland, Montreal?
Now tell the Rays to do the same.

I cant imagine Portland would be in the running

I've been to a lot of bad sporting venues, but that might take the cake. And isn't Tampa splitting their home games in Montreal sometime in the future? I remember reading an article about that, but perhaps that was shelved.
They should move to Albany
Bricktop : 5/11/2021 7:34 pm : link
It's great up here. Albany A's.
Charlotte, Nashville, Montreal
Metnut : 5/11/2021 7:56 pm : link
and Portland would appear to be the favorites.

Probably Nashville vs Montreal.

Portland's been wanting to get in on baseball for a while. I don't think weather would be as big an issue as you'd expect - I've only been here 5 years not the summers have been hot and really dry. Apparently it's like one of the front lines of climate change here. I think it's why the wine business in the Willamette Valley is blowing up.
GT.

That'd be cool if the A's ended up in Portland. It would give me an excuse to go there again. Portland is one of the underrated gems in the nation. Great spot.

Love Albany, but that town could never even support minor league baseball.
Shame

Oakland teams of 70s were awesome
Would’ve won a couple more rings if Finley didn’t sell off everyone
Live 20 minutes from alameda stadium. It’s a dump
Vegas seems like a lock
BH28 : 5/11/2021 8:48 pm : link
Their minor league affiliate is there and Vegas seems to be starving for more sports teams
Portland
10thAve : 5/11/2021 8:50 pm : link
I was out there a few years ago and back then they thought they had a shot at the Pirates relocating. At least this would keep the A’s in the AL West.
Vegas is a sports boom town
gtt350 : 5/11/2021 8:59 pm : link
imagine yankees and red sox weekends in Vegas
Can't blame them.

I was kidding. We can barely support a team in Troy.
Montreal had their shot

Nashville would seem like an obvious choice to me

Back to Philly!

J/K. I could see Portland
Nashville makes sense.
Giant John : 5/11/2021 9:47 pm : link
That’s a good fit.
I guess they can't move to San Jose
81_Great_Dane : 5/11/2021 9:50 pm : link
because the Giants would object. It's Oakland or somewhere farther away.

I think if Portland is a contender then I'd think Salt Lake City would be, too. Vegas, of course. I doubt anyplace else in the Mountain West or Southwest would support a team. Nashville makes a certain amount of sense, I guess. Montreal is tricky because it was once a great baseball town, but fans lost interest when the Expos got screwed the year the strike wiped out the playoffs and WS. I'm not sure that interest is easily revived.
Vegas A's
spike : 5/11/2021 9:57 pm : link
what a perfect marriage.

A as in Aces, not Athletics.
Would love
RasputinPrime : 5/11/2021 10:03 pm : link
Vancouver to be added to that list.
Charlotte
MookGiants : 5/11/2021 10:49 pm : link
would be a poor choice. I like Charlotte overall. but dont think it would be a good baseball town at all.

Nashville seems like a good choice. Vegas would be cool.

Where’s the puck, eh?
Agree Tampa has to be moved.
Victor in CT : 5/12/2021 7:21 am : link
Nashville I think would be a leading candidate. Montreal or Vancouver too, although Canada right now is a problem with the restrictions. I doubt Portland with the chaos going on there.
Nashville would make for interesting geographic rivalries...
BamaBlue : 5/12/2021 8:17 am : link
Rangers, Royals, White Sox, Rays.
Obviously MLB And NFL Are Diametrically Opposite
Trainmaster : 5/12/2021 9:38 am : link
in terms of number of home games, but I'd think LV might be an option.

I assume they'd need another new stadium built.

Maybe MLB waits to see how full the Raiders stadium is in a non COVID season.

They're still working on that, but it's not a done deal.

We have a Brand new triple A stadium in Vegas that probably
gtt350 : 5/12/2021 1:54 pm : link
could accomodate a major league team with additional seating, adding and upper tier. It's alreay beautiful

We just moved to Ashland and our new neighbors are telling me this has been the driest April they've ever seen... by a long shot. Nearby reservoirs and lakes are apparently much lower than normal.

I'm not looking forward to fire season.
