New York Giants 2018 Grade: B The Skinny: They took running back Saquon Barkley with the second-overall pick. He flashed star potential in his first two seasons, but tore his ACL last year. He should be able to come back and play at a high level this season. Second-round guard Will Hernandez has been a solid starter, while third-round edge Lorenzo Carter has started 19 games in three seasons, but he is coming off an Achilles' tendon injury. Third-round defensive tackle B.J. Hill has been a rotational player. How I did: As usual, I didn't like the idea of taking a back second overall. I did like the pick of Hernandez and thought they added some solid players in Hill and Carter. New Grade: C |
The guy has started 14 games in 3 years (only 1 last year) and has only 12 career sacks. 1.5 last year.

Bad move. The funny thing is they knocked it out of the park in 2017 with Lattimore, Ramczyk, Marcus Williams, and Kamara.
Hernandez is solid in the sense that he is an average NFL guard. Was he worth a second round pick? No. Are there guards playing in the league (who played for Giants in some cases) worse than him? Yes.
When you consider that he gave the Colts an A+ in part because they drafted Braden Smith, and that the Giants drafted Hernandez before Smith, who was the more highly-regarded prospect, I'd think he'd be more down on the Hernandez pick.
Oh, and that he lost his job to a rookie last year too.
If Jones doesn't make a jump, 2019 will be worse.
