They were discussing how the NFCE will be decided the last 5 weeks and that the new 17 game schedule might make NFCE teams consider resting a player before that brutal 5 week stretch.
I disagree, I think the 17 game season is too short to risk giving any game away. I thought it was forced. Thoughts?
That makes literally no sense whatsoever. You can rest when you're locked into a playoff seed. 1 more regular season game doesn't change anything.
On KJZ this morning for the 8am opener they played a clip from an earlier interview with the question "who's most likely to be looking for a new QB in the 2022 draft" and I believe the response was "i love Daniel Jones but the Giants"
Unfortunately I have no other context, or even know who was getting asked the question, because I didn't hear the actual interview.

The Giants don't even play anybody that had a winning record over the last 5 games...
Look at the last 5 games of every NFCE team. Were are playing each other a lot. Giants the least with 3 in the division I think.
The NFCE has some talent but is exactly scaring anybody right now. These could be some of the easier games for the NYG

I mostly agree, especially if there is the normal seven days between games.
However, and I'm just speaking generally here, I could see teams resting players for Thursday games late in the season. Those three day turnarounds are brutal...
I still shake my head on why the NFLPA agreed to the Thursday games. They are as dumb as a bag of rocks.
Who wouldn't love to have the opportunity to negotiate against DeMaurice Smith? The guy can't stop giving things away...

I agree, I don't understand it. Which games we win doesn't matter unless it goes to tiebreakers.
They play the Raiders Nov 25th. If the sat a key player or 2 on Dec 2nd against the Saints. You could get rest from Nov 25th to December 12th.

You should rest players and risk losing games to try and win harder games later in the year?

FYI I am not suggesting I believe this, I am just trying present some of what was being said for the purposes of dsicussion.

This is almost true. Except who you bet also impacts your opponents record. Beating a team you are in a race with has more value than beating team who is not in a playoff race with you.
Ahh I missed that point in the original post...I assume they were suggesting to rest players before the division games, wasn't really clear.
Still a stupid topic lol

Yeah but that's always the case. I don't really see how 1 more game makes some massive difference when it comes to resting players. I guess I can see it for someone coming back from injury but I don't see a scenario where an off week is granted to a player just because. Judge doesn't seem like the type of coach to go that route.
If the Giants win 6 games...something went terribly wrong. Jones, Barkley, Gettleman will all be gone after the season is over. This is a team that is in win now mode. They have given Jones everything he should need to be successful in terms of weapons and the defense should be better. 8-9 Wins should be the floor.
LOL! So much garbage on the air ways these days.
Imagine the division is tight and you are Dallas. 5 Games in the division to end the season. It is November 26th and you are in a 3 way tie for the division lead. Players have been playing nicked up. Elliot has been out and 2 of the WR are battling a hammy and an ankle respectively.
You can sit all 3 players on Dec 2nd and they would have a break that went from November 25- Dec 12 to get fresh for that 5 game stretch that will decide the division. This probably means you lose the Dec 2nd game to the Saints.
It is not completely crazy talk.
John Madden sent Coughlin a message after the Week 17 game that he was crying bc he did it the right way when it wasn’t in jeopardy. Could’ve rested, but played starters and played to win.
