the hockey Gods haven't made pjcas18 pay yet for what he posted before game 7 of the first round. How are they letting him get away with that?

The hockey gods are rewarding me for being grateful for what I had and not greedy for more.
That is what karma is. not what you keep wishing on me, lol

That’s the thing about the hockey Gods. PJ’s comments were taken into account. But on some curling board before game 7, some guy posted that there was no possible way Toronto blows that series, and so they washed each other out.
especially asleep at the wheel allowing a team to make the SCF that wouldn't have even sniffed the playoffs in any year in recent memory if not for realignment because of Covid.
Vegas played a shit series after game 1. Montreal played very well, but Vegas not even getting to game 7 against the canadiens is lousy

Yeah so because of some invisible line, we have to see two teams from the East play each other in the Stanley Cup Finals?
are douchy (present company excluded) but as non-fans don't you have to root for the underdog?
no one expected them to be here.
I have no problem rooting for an underdog, but I hated how they did the realignment and didn't like a team like Montreal who was mediocre all season long making the playoffs only because of the realignment.
They're riding a really hot goaltender and getting clutch performances out of a few guys but I dont like a team making the playoffs only because of the realignment this year. They should have eliminated conferences and just take the top 16 teams points wise for this 1 season.
They had a negative goal differential and made the playoffs. I dont feel like they earned a playoff appearance, just got one because of covid and the dumb realignment as far as playoffs go.
if you actually analyze the results, the North teams were not that bad and got "hurt" in points by beating up each other because other than TOR they were so evenly matched.
They had no NJD or BUF in the North. Their worst teams (OTT and VAN) were better than the worst teams in the other divisions and for obvious reasons they had one less team than the other divisions - who knows if that team would have helped or hurt.
that said I agree, MTL was a mediocre team - mostly because Price was very mediocre and injured for a while.
But they got healthy, got some acquisitions (Caufield for one) and Price - and the team has peaked at the right time.
I don't think deserving to be there or not is questionable, they play the schedule the league game them (like Parcells would say), but it's definitely a unique year.
But if they don't win 4 more it's not really that meaningful.
and no conference trophies are being handed out. The Final could've been Winnipeg/Edmonton vs. Colorado/Vegas (West vs. West in a normal year). The only reason the semifinals were matched up this way was due to seeding based on regular season records.

they just handed out the Campbell Bowl to Montreal.
But Montreal ran the gauntlet and earned the right to play for the Cup. Toronto and Vegas were teams many expected to compete for the Cup and Montreal beat both of them in the playoffs. That matters.
Why can’t the city of Montreal just let all those fans gathered outside the Bell Center to go inside and watch the game? What difference does it make? Surely the people in power have to see how special this is and keeping them away serves no useful purpose because they are still gathering close up outside.

Ah, they must've changed their minds, then. Back in May they said this. I would've preferred they stuck to that; the traditional conference trophies make no sense in this year's alignment. NHL won't award famed conference championship trophies during Stanley Cup playoffs, league says - ( New Window )
I agree it's weird, but kind of cool to see a franchise as old as the Canadiens win a trophy they would never be able to win otherwise, and hopefully never again.
Because 1) I hate the Islanders and 2) I think TB-MON will be a great matchup.
The Isles and Habs are very similar. Both Play hard responsible hockey….no offensive superstars on either team. No goons, scoring spread out over 4 lines. Both with solid goaltending with Carey Price possibly having an edge, although i believe tje Isles let in the least amount of goals during the regular season.

It's illogical to think that logic would fly these days
Ugh. I will eat my crow. I really blew my call on the Habs.
There was once a line in a Walking Dead episode that I think works perfectly for me.
"When one is served a shit sandwich. It is best not to nibble. Bite, chew, swallow and repeat."
Surprisingly after they won there was only minor rioting. Two arrested. They must have been to gassed from partying all day because it was the Sainte-Jean-Baptiste Quebec National Holiday yesterday.
The Habs going to the cup has done something that I never thought that I would do as a Canes fan. Cheer for Tampa. I was hoping for an Islanders/Golden Knights cup, but now it has to be the Lightning. Bite, chew, swallow and repeat.....

Maybe, but Barzal and Caufield/Suzuki are making a case very early in their careers. Not around long enough to crown them, but you have to like their chances.
For sure. I thought Weber had a terrible period in his own end, several careless no look sweeps of the puck behind his own net that were intercepted, and one such botched exchange behind the net with Charot led directly to the tying goal.
hopefully they open it up the Bell Center fully for fans otherwise I hope TBL wins, because NYI at home have a distinct home ice advantage with their crowd. TBL, not so much - I may even try to go to a game if it's TBL.
otherwise, just looking for a good game and hopefully OT, game 7 OT's are where heroes are born.
They won't let the arena be full in Montreal yet they allow 2 or 3 times as many people to congregate outside the arena all game? Dont give me this indoor vs outdoor bs. The crowd outside was huddled way closer than if they were inside the arena.
McDonagh was the Lightning's best dman this series IMO. He isn't as athletic and fast as he was on 2014 with the Rangers, but he's really turned into a brilliant defenseman.

I thought McDonagh was a non-factor before this series started, but I agree with you. He was far and away their best defenseman. That says something on a team with a Hedman on it.
but it just feels dirty having a team from Florida in the Stanley Cup. Would have been nice to see the Isles make it. They got outplayed considerably, but that's a fun team to watch and they've got heart. Hope our Rangers exhibit some balls next season and make it interesting again.
Islanders pretty much shut the Lightning down except for
that shorthanded goal. They are going to remember that all offseason. If the Islanders won this game I thought they were going to beat Montreal and win the Cup

Montreal playing really well. Vegas looks a little like they are running out of answers.
Vegas had a few solid opportunities but have not been able to create the frenetic up and down pace they usually do.
It did look like there was a lot of open space top shelf from Lehner on the replay.

Even the hockey Gods couldn’t help Winnipeg.
That was a nice goal.
Only possible because they are playing in the West.
Don't touch it Weber.

thanks, hope they seal the deal now, sucks to get this far and lose.
