and I guess if money is on the line the players will do what they have to, but geez it must be tough to get up for those games while the playoffs are going on around you. Very strange
and I guess it's for maybe incentives, etc. or some NHLPA thing they need to play all scheduled games.
I also forgot to mention that Vancouver has one player who it appears will meet the minimum games number for Expansion Draft if he plays in remaining games versus if their season ended today.
Physicality always goes sky high in the first round, but this year every series has seemingly instant hatred. A positive byproduct of the covid schedule. Guys are getting blown up like it's the steroid early aughts. It's wild.
What a good game - Landeskog is a beast - sneaky because he can score, but he's a nasty SOB when he wants to be and I could watch Makar/Mackinnon all day.
Sounds like B's vs Caps was also great, didn't hear much from CAR vs NSH, but sounds like the Canes took care of business as expected.
Today 3 playoff games:
PIT vs NYI (NYI up 1 - 0) 7:30
FLA vs TBL (TBL up 1 - 0) 8:00
MIN vs LVG (MIN up 1 - 0) 10:00
All three road teams won game 1 in these series, that seems unusual.
I get having the Canucks and Flames finish out their schedules, but why do the other teams have to wait for them? These games have no bearing on anything for the playoff teams right? I guess over the course of 2 rounds they can make up the lag without too much disruption to the schedule, but it seems unfair to the 4 playoff teams, and unnecessary.

I don't get this at all. It's so dumb.
agree, so stupid, but MTL needs all the rest they can get to help get Price, Gallagher, Weber, Tatar, Danault, and more back - they are the biggest underdog in any series.
not sure if it's the shorter season or what but these players seem like it's balls to the wall for 60+ minutes every game, the pace is crazy in all these games.
rolling won 3 - 0 to go up 2 - 0 in the series, starting to look Lord-Stanley-ish even though I predicted them to roll, NSH was torrid down the stretch.
WIN surprises EDM in EDM. An early exit will start to weigh on McDavid IMO.
COL steamrolls STL - too much talent in COL - Kadri being Kadri. He's like a less talented Tom Wilson, but equal in thuggery.
Tonight
TBL vs FLA (TBL up 2 - 0) @ 6:30
NYI vs PIT (series tied a 1) @ 7:00 (Malkin may be back)
TOR vs MTL (series opener) @ 7:30 (I read Kotkaniemi, Caufield and Romanov may be inactive. I don't think Ducharme want's this job long term if that is the case)
Who needs Eichel when we are going to get McDavid when he demands a trade this off-season? McDavid for Howden and second, who says no?
Yandle is apparently going to be scratched tonight. Does not impact his game streak.
I wouldn't even know how to put together a trade offer for McDavid.
31 teams would be interested and willing to give up a ton for him, but I don't think EDM even picks up the phone.
though to play devil's advocate, he has 1 more year before his NMC kicks in the next year would be the time to trade him if he was going to be moved.
then after 2021-2022 his NMC kicks and he is under contract 4 more years, in all 5 remaining years at $12.5M per and I think that's a bargain and will be when the deal is over.
end to OT, Samsonov can't leave that puck there. I'd rather he stay in the net than do that.
played such a great game and then becomes the goat.
Brutal is the word, the way he did not react it was as if he saw an icing and would just mosey back to his net. Hell, even if it was an icing he would have flipped the puck...somewhere. Unfathomable, except Boucher or whoever was doing color had commented at the beginning of the 1st or 2nd OT, with Samsonov's limited ice time since late April, was he going to fatigue. I don't think in his imagination he ever saw that manifestation. Ovvie not happy, barking in Russian to his beleaguered countryman?

He's still 24 years old.
I think McDavid has leverage if he demands a trade. He isn't going to Buffalo or Arizona.
How many more years is he going to languish in EDM?
His NMC doesn't kick in until after 2021-2022 season.
I don't think he'll be traded, but like Eichel (although a better player) he has to be frustrated by his teams lack of success (and to be fair, they're just down 1 - 0 in the series, lol).
I do believe, in EDM, McDavid has had better talent than Eichel has had in BUF. Neither has had a great goalie though which makes a big difference.
3 - 2 TBL
looks like huberdeau fanned on the shot, but sometime that makes it harder to save.
long way to go, but hoping for a 4th OT
FLA is playing very physical, but that doesn't work against TBL anymore. and 3 PP goals for TBL is why.
TBL up 5 - 4, 1:14 left.
Come on FLA
what a day of hockey, I love football, and many sports, but nothing beats playoff hockey.
NSH @ CAR (game 1) @ 8:00
STL @ COL (game 1) @ 10:00
Although following up one of the best days of playoff hockey I've ever seen Sunday with a completely meaningless regular season game is pretty funny.
Tampa/Florida was absolutely incredible
Seeding for draft lottery is also in play because you can't just assume that a team will still have the same points percentage in the remaining games.
I also forgot to mention that Vancouver has one player who it appears will meet the minimum games number for Expansion Draft if he plays in remaining games versus if their season ended today.

Hate him but respect him. He went from a pk, energy line guy to first line LW on team Canada.
Washington has half a dozen total shit bags.

FILTHY!!
Fuck the Yinz!!

60 minutes of intensity. The urgency of playoff hockey is just not paralleled in sports IMO.
putting the Panthers in a big hole.
They say momentum in a playoff series doesn't shift until you lose at home, well momentum has shifted, big time, in that series.

Was anyone expecting this to be a close series? I don't know. Haven't been following like previous years.

4 playoffs games on tap for today:
BOS vs WAS (tied 1 - 1) @ 6:30
CAR vs NSH (CAR up 1 - 0) @ 8:00
EDM vs WIN (series opener) @ 9:00
COL vs STL (COL up 1 - 0) @ 10:30
Also, North finishes up the regular season due to COVID cancellations, CAL leads VAN 5 - 2 in the 3rd.
another great game.

2021 NHL Draft Lottery scheduled for June 2 - ( New Window )
Boston wins. Double OT.

Not saying it's the most important thing in the world but wow these little delays are a bit annoying to keep track of and easy to forget.
Yandle is apparently going to be scratched tonight. Does not impact his game streak.
