Why are they making Calgary and Vancouver finish their schedules? Do they players need to play the games in order to get paid. Seems extremely silly.

Although following up one of the best days of playoff hockey I've ever seen Sunday with a completely meaningless regular season game is pretty funny.

Seeding for draft lottery is also in play because you can't just assume that a team will still have the same points percentage in the remaining games.

I also forgot to mention that Vancouver has one player who it appears will meet the minimum games number for Expansion Draft if he plays in remaining games versus if their season ended today.

Physicality always goes sky high in the first round, but this year every series has seemingly instant hatred. A positive byproduct of the covid schedule. Guys are getting blown up like it's the steroid early aughts. It's wild.

What a good game - Landeskog is a beast - sneaky because he can score, but he's a nasty SOB when he wants to be and I could watch Makar/Mackinnon all day.

Sounds like B's vs Caps was also great, didn't hear much from CAR vs NSH, but sounds like the Canes took care of business as expected.

All three road teams won game 1 in these series, that seems unusual.

I get having the Canucks and Flames finish out their schedules, but why do the other teams have to wait for them? These games have no bearing on anything for the playoff teams right? I guess over the course of 2 rounds they can make up the lag without too much disruption to the schedule, but it seems unfair to the 4 playoff teams, and unnecessary.

agree, so stupid, but MTL needs all the rest they can get to help get Price, Gallagher, Weber, Tatar, Danault, and more back - they are the biggest underdog in any series.

60 minutes of intensity. The urgency of playoff hockey is just not paralleled in sports IMO.

I wouldn't even know how to put together a trade offer for McDavid.

31 teams would be interested and willing to give up a ton for him, but I don't think EDM even picks up the phone.

though to play devil's advocate, he has 1 more year before his NMC kicks in the next year would be the time to trade him if he was going to be moved.

then after 2021-2022 his NMC kicks and he is under contract 4 more years, in all 5 remaining years at $12.5M per and I think that's a bargain and will be when the deal is over.

He's still 24 years old.

Brutal is the word, the way he did not react it was as if he saw an icing and would just mosey back to his net. Hell, even if it was an icing he would have flipped the puck...somewhere. I think McDavid has leverage if he demands a trade. He isn't going to Buffalo or Arizona.

I don't think he'll be traded, but like Eichel (although a better player) he has to be frustrated by his teams lack of success (and to be fair, they're just down 1 - 0 in the series, lol).

I do believe, in EDM, McDavid has had better talent than Eichel has had in BUF. Neither has had a great goalie though which makes a big difference.
