I think they will contend for a division title in 2022. This season will be a developing year but if Lawrence is as good as expected they should compete the following year.
Next year's draft is LOADED with defensive talent. Keep the picks. One, we don't have the cap room for another highly paid player. Two, we spent so much this offseason that next offseason our big acquisitions will come via the draft. Stay the course. Plus, Allen already has 2 less years on his rookie deal. The most cost effective approach is just being patient and just making the picks next year.
Giants become a top 2 team (Rams) in the NFC overnight...and that's assuming Stafford plays well.
I assume that's both firsts plus Daniel Jones. If not, then presumably Jones gets flipped for a pick and that's not a bad deal for the Giants. I doubt they'll do it, but it's not bad.
Tristan Wirfs, Justin Herbert, Chase Young, and a whole lot of others.

2 firsts isn’t enough and they don’t want Jones, they have Love, the guy they are kicking their MVP out for. Ohh and Blake Bortles.
2005, I think. OP suggested trading Eli Manning to the Packers for Bret Favre and Aaron Rogers. I honestly don't remember what the reaction was, but I can't help but wonder what the ensuing 15 years would've looked like if such a trade had been made.
RE: This is kind of a strange question. Wouldn’t you be willing to trade a
#1 pick for any All Pro caliber player? Maybe even trade a mid-round #1 for about half of the Pro Bowl caliber players?
The draft is still a crapshoot so giving up a #1 for a guaranteed star player seems to be a pretty easy decision.
But as others have already pointed out in this thread... it's not that simple.
Pro Bowl caliber players make a lot more money and every NFL team is restricted by the cap.
Rodgers (for example) wouldn't come close to fitting under the cap and if the Giants could somehow make it work, they'd have to cut some high-salaried players in order to do so.
This isn't as easy as Miami giving Cleveland a #1 for Paul Warfield.

GB has a QB they want to start (Love), doubt they want him. I'd also doubt there's much of a market for DJ right now. Maybe a 3rd?
If we are talking realistically, no. Any player that would represent the impact I'd look for wpuld exceed the value of 1 first rounder. At that point, the utility of having two firsts in next years draft creates too much upside for me to trade away.
is years away from contending, then so are the Giants.
Giants shouldn't do anything with their 1st round picks until they find out about Jones this year. If he stinks, it's back to the drawing board at QB and not having that extra 1st rounder would suck.
is "years away" from contending if they have a franchise QB in place.
Sure, Lawrence could bust, but people have this idea that it takes teams years to rebuild. It doesn't. The Giants have taken years (hopefully this is the year we finally turn the corner) because they were poorly managed, hung on to Eli for too long and drafted poorly many years in a row.
Giants look like they have their shit finally together from a management and coaching standpoint starting when they hired Judge. I haven't liked much of what DG has done prior to this year but I'm very pleased with the Giants 2021 draft.
Yes - some teams are years away. Jets won't win a title this year. They are "years away" from winning it all.
Broncos won't.
There are others.
It's nice to dream!!!
