I have not been interested in the NBA for a long time, this diffidence nudged along by the mediocrity and offensiveness of the NY Knicks franchise.
That said, I wished I had tuned into his induction ceremony: the article quotes a number of moving comments made by Vanessa, MJ as Kobe's presenter standing along side. It was historic and grabbed my attention as a heretofore indifferent observer. When I was more of a fan, I clearly recall the draft in which LA took him straight out of HS, not so unique any more (or one and dones); at the time, it was jaw dropping to me. Kobe stood above the League in so many ways. Vanessa did him and Gigi proud.
Agreed.
Further, the Colorado sexual assault allegation would very likely destroy his image if it happened today in this environment. He was fortunate in that regard...
Bryant was a great two way player. I'm probably in the minority here, but if I would choose KB over LeBron all of the time. He was very much like Jordan with his ability to carry a team and finish off an opponent. His offensive tool box was as full as anyone's who has played the game.
Kyrie wasn't even 10 years old when that happened, he probably has no idea.
Hell, I was like 15 and remember it being in the headlines for months.
Yeah. I agree.
Death has a way of glossing over some really unsavory acts. Kobe's transgressions have been largely forgotten. Kirby Puckett's as well. Many athletes and celebrities have a much different perception post-mortem. Guys who were considered rude or arrogant get portrayed as great guys.
Payne Stewart is a perfect example of that.
When they say "don't speak ill of the dead, that gets taken to heart for those in the public eye".

It's super uncomfortable post 1/26/20 to talk about Kobe & Golden, CO. That's why when I hear people like Kyrie say the Kobe should be the NBA logo...like, I don't think that's a smart or the right move. It's part of his legacy, & not in the good part either.

Fuck Kobe Bryant. The only difference between him and Mike Tyson, was that MT was not well like and hated in many circles..Kobe benefited from his fans adoration snd media splooging..
