True, but to be fair, he didn’t have Derrick Rose off the bench, or Emmanuel Quickley, this version or Julius Randle and RJ Barrett took a leap forward this season. Thibs had a lot to do with Barrett’ improvement but Randle did a lot of on his own.

but I caught all of these induction speeches last night and they were all great from Vanessa Bryant, KG and Duncan.

The height of NBA greatness IMO was from 1980 through 2000. Obviously these guys were doing great things well beyond 2000 but they were all established by then.

In fact, I often think about who would be the next 25 greatest players since they did the top 75 players for the 75th anniversary. Needless to say these 3 are all there. All 3 of them were awesome.

Last year's Barrett was not an effective starter. Last year's Randle wasn't a star, just a pretty good journeyman power forward. There was no Quickly, there was no Rose, there was no Burks. Bullock wasn't nearly the player he is now, because he didn't have this year's Randle or Rose around to get him open 3's.

No doubt the defensive passion is much greater this year, but other comparisons are tough to make.

F9r taking the long term approach. Overpaying someone like Heyward would have been brutal. They kept their picks. They have a ton of cap room. Mission accomplished. I remember saying that a few things had to happen this season. One, the culture needed to change. So far so good. They needed to start winning. Check. One full season of doing things the right way has drastically changed the outlook of this franchise.

But you also have to give credit to Thibs for where they are and actually holding players accountable as opposed to just saying it. Yes, Randle and Barrett improved and we got Rose. But is that the difference between one of the worst teams in the league and 4th in the east? The point is that Fizdale was a horrendous coach. Plain and simple.

but it is so much easier to hold a player accountable when a quality alternative exists on the roster, or available in a trade. The Knicks had almost none of that last year. And you need to add Burks to the list of improvements--he has been close to a league best 6th man at times when healthy.

But yeah, Fiz wasn't much.

Kobe, Duncan, & KG are top 30 all time for sure. I'd rank them in this order, 1) Duncan, 2) Kobe, & 3) KG. I know others will put Kobe > Duncan, but I'm taking Tim. I think people underrate him because 1) he made Bavaro seem loquacious, 2) the Spurs were (are?) perceived as boring, & 3) San Antonio is a great place, but it's a small market, especially compared to LA.

As for KG, it's a shame he squandered so much of his career in that NBA wasteland that is Minnesota. He was so damn good. I'm not a fan of his, but he was a helluva player & someone who intimidated me watching him from a bar stool. He was one intense MFer. He was also pretty good in Uncut Gems, Haha.
