NGT for now.. Arch Manning says he's wide open to schools

6'3" and 214 lbs. according to his Wikipedia page.

Probably because Cutcliffe ain’t at Ole Miss or Tennessee

Per the linked report, Stanford is also on the list. Don't know how their football program is overall these days, but I could see them being attractive for other reasons - location, academic reputation, etc.

Arch may want to separate himself from his grandfather and uncles by moving out of the SEC. The SEC is the most elite conference, but Stanford is an elite academic school with great athletic programs.
Have to think the SEC is high on the list...

I would love to see him at Bama, but the already unbalanced talent would become critically lopsided. It would enhance recruiting and make Tennessee, Ole Miss, etc. MUCH more competitive.
He will be the most hyped college player

With a ruling on the NCAA coming soon from the courts

I wonder if Arch will be the first major player to under a new recruiting system.

Agreed, I'd love to see him with Saban but I'm not sure it makes the most sense for him.

The question with Lincoln Riley will be whether he would jump to the pros if someone offered him a situation like Carolina offered Matt Rhule (a lesser college coach) or Jacksonville offered Urban Meyer. Especially if Rattler looks like a surefire #1 overall pick this year and whomever is drafting #1 needs a QB and has a head coaching vacancy. Ed Orgeron (LSU) and Lane Kiffin (Ole Miss) really are not threats to get an NFL HC gig.
why not Rutgers for Arch Manning?

on the list. Lots of history with Ole Miss and he could be the first Manning to win the SEC or more. I wonder how the Manning's view Kiffin.

Texas with Sark.

Why is Riley a better college coach than Rhule? He took over a extremely good program and has kept it going. What is most interesting is how strong Leach's influence has stayed at that program.

I've watched some video...

The Athletic had an article on him earlier this week; seems like a good kid, which is no surprise considering his lineage. As a ND fan, I'd love for him to go to South Bend, but I bet he ends up in the SEC. It's interesting that none of the Manning kids-all born & raised in LA-ever went to LSU.

Mr. Kazmaier was a two-time all-American who led Princeton to 22 straight victories under coach Charlie Caldwell, including perfect 9-0 records in 1950 and 1951. In his senior season, Mr. Kazmaier led the nation in total offense, with 1,827 yards, 22 touchdowns and a .626 passing percentage. He was also his team’s top punter .... He won the Heisman Trophy and the two other top national collegiate football honors, the Walter Camp and Maxwell awards. He was named the 1951 Associated Press athlete of the year. Second place went to golfer Ben Hogan, who won the Masters and U.S. Open tournaments that year.

And then, as one of the most famous athletes in America, Mr. Kazmaier stepped away from the sport for good. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears but was never tempted to sign a contract. “Pro football — that’s definitely out,” he said after his memorable 1951 season. “I don’t see anything I could gain by it.” Instead, he graduated cum laude from Princeton in 1952, with a degree in psychology, and enrolled in the Harvard Business School.

Newman is a top program nationally now? Ok.

Manning looks like a good player. But I'm not declaring him the next Elway. He doesn't look that athletic to me - yet - and his arm looks good, but not plus (yet).

Now, if that impresses you that much I suggest you watch more video of high school prospects.

Is there anything regarding the Mannings you don't find negative in some warped way of yours?

Seriously, claiming a 10th-grade kid looks like a normal recruit in your expert football eyes because he has a normal arm (Which is wrong in any way you look at a kid playing at that level in 9th and 10th grade) and the only reason he is getting hyped is that he is a Manning has to be one of the most absurd takes on BBI in quite awhile.

Tons of film on a bunch of HS QB recruits in the country. You should easily be able to find another 15-year old whose film is better than his normal QBing skills right?

I will wait for it

As usual, you are putting words into my mouth. Where did I use the word normal.

I didn't say Manning was only getting hype because of his hype. I wondered how much the Manning name is helping the hype. And it certainly is to some degree.

I said Manning looks like a good player. What do you want me to say? He's the most prolific high school QB prospect ever? Please. He's not.

Btw, Oxford is like a family compound for the Mannings. They have homes/property there and visit frequently.
