Gettleman is a genius for trading down and ultimately saving money on the cost of his first-round pick...
For comparison, Fields is projected to get $18.9 million. Saves a bit over $1 million a year. While the draft haul is the main reason, saving a bit of money doesn't hurt either.

Yep. Teams usually try to win more games to gain this benefit, but DG finally discovered a loophole.
Forget rain, this is going to be a typhoon at a few strip joints shortly. I'm guessing he's already got a trip to Miami booked
I know you're joking, but I really hope this isn't the case. I'd like to think they get assigned mentors and smart financial advisors who can help them avoid losing it all, but sadly, I know that isn't always the way it works.
#20 Pick Kadarius Toney 4-Year / $13.72 Million deal

Or differently said, Fields's contract will be cheaper than Jones's... ;)
He isn’t polished as a WR but he will make some big plays next season. He’s probably the most exciting prospect from this draft with the ball in his hands.

Yes, with the ball in his hands he may be elite. I can see us opening up all sorts of plays to isolate him and feed him the ball.
I can see us using him in the slot or moving him around to create matchup advantages.
I don’t know a lot about Ojulari to be honest. He got the highest pass rushing grade for the draft prospects from PFF for whatever that’s worth. What don’t you like about him Jon? I’m curious to hear your thoughts. Is he bad against the run?
He's solid and presents a solid floor but I don't see a high ceiling for the NFL. Feels like they really locked in on him, and then there's the knee question that dropped him. Hopefully I'm wrong, just don't love their first two picks.
see in him either. Yes, they clearly like what they see in him since he was drafted him in the middle of Rd 2, but they also passed on taking him three separate times.
RE: Well, not really sure how much special the Giants

Regardless, wasn't he their top-ranked Defense guy? If they stuck to defense at 20, he likely would have been the choice anyway.

Top-ranked as of when? Not sure that is really known and is an odd way to frame it.
Recall comments that they liked one or two of defenders leading up to #20 but think they were taken ahead of them leaving Toney as the top guy on their board. After that I don't think word has leaked out as to where their remaining defensive targets (including Ojulari) stood versus rest of the field as they navigated thru Rd 2.

Yeah, that's what I'm alluding to with NYG fans that had also targeted him ... at #11. Giants got two good prospects, but I'm not seeing the type of impact talent some are implying and tend to overrate based on enthusiasm.

Yep but overrating NYG picks is not an unusual occurrence from NYG fans. Ojulari has talent but not #11-type talent in this draft. He and most of the top edge guys were always pegged into back half of Rd 1 and into Rd 2 by the guys betting the smart money. And that is how it played out...
Giants passed on him early, but that's value. JOK got pass on several times, too. As did a lot of talented, perhaps diamonds in the rough in later rounds. Ojulari is someone who fits the scheme well and, unlike a lot of other edge guys, can contain and drop in zone. Kwity Paye was liked more by some, but he isn't the same caliber fit. He isn't dropping in zone.
Toney is we'll see. I'm not unimpressed by his skill level. But can Garrett and the other offensive guys get the most out of him?
We had a pretty darn good defensive draft without that, no?
We did pretty well on the whole, I like Robinson best of the picks. I just liked other Edge players at #20 with more diverse abilities, and feel NYG drafted to plug holes in the first two rounds, which I notoriously dislike.
I admit I don't know shit but to me this idea that Garrett
and the other offensive guys might struggle to get the most out of Toney, seems silly. For one thing, from what I've seen, just get Toney the ball and he does a lot on his own.
As far as Garrett's offense, did it leave a lot to be desired last year? Hell yes, but look at the dookie he was working with.
A 2nd yr QB struggling with turnovers in a new offense without OTAs or preseason, rookies on OL, best weapon out for season, possibly league worst WR corps (worst separation and prolly YAC), etc., etc.
None of that is going to be the case this year. I'm pretty sure his game plan will be vastly different w/ a more experienced OL and QB w/ guys like Golladay, SB, Toney and Rudolph on the field.
If I'm wrong and Garrett does struggle, I don't think JJ is the type to let it fester for long.
Good news, can't wait to watch him.

He can afford custom made ones for his abnormal feet now. :D
The guy hasn't even had a catch yet and he's getting paid that much!?!? :)

was already a foregone conclusion based on who had already signed:
19 Washington LB Jamin Davis Kentucky Signed: 4Y, $13.8M
21 Indianapolis DE Kwity Paye Michigan Signed: 4Y, $13.6M
22 Tennessee CB Caleb Farley Virginia Tech Signed: 4Y, $13.5M
23 Minnesota OT Christian Darrisaw Virginia Tech Signed: 4Y, $13.3M
24 Pittsburgh RB Najee Harris Alabama Signed: 4Y, $13.1M

You take being an asshole to a whole new level.
Well, it doesn't. But again since that offends you whether it is in jest or not, just read posts that don't...
