FMIC - Any insight on Padden's resignation in CAR?

Racer : 6/3/2021 12:08 pm
So much time with Rhule; Tepper culture at work? Thanks.
Bump.

I’m curious about this myself. I get the sense that Tepper is a pain in the ass.
I doubt Rhule lasts the duration of his contract

for the bump. Was on vacation last week.

I'll pass on the real story when I get the info. What I was told earlier this year was friction between Padden and Tepper surrounding the Darnold trade. It's also why I thought the Panthers still might go QB in the draft as there is a split in the front office on the QB solution. It was one of the first rifts or differences between Rhule and Tepper. They really liked Lance and Fields

I'll likely hear more in the coming days, but I suspect, Padden didn't resign as much as it was a move he was told/forced to make. So far, lips have been tight, so I'm guessing nobody wants Tepper to blow a lid
so Tepper

I always remember in these situations when Kirwan said that all owners need to learn how to 'own' to some degree. Thanks for the info.

I'm guessing collaboration works just great until the head guy has a strongly different opinion.

I've always thought the Rhule/Tepper relationship will be one to follow very closely. Tepper has shaken things up on all fronts. He's heavily involved in the MSL team. He's building a practice facility/complex/destination area in Rock Hill, SC. He's building the financial foundation of the team and developing partnerships with several high profile companies in the area.

The Padden move is going to be an interesting thing to hear the details about. He's been tied with Rhule for many years now, and after a short time, he's out. When they hired the new GM, a lot of stories were run about the process Tepper instituted. True teamwork. Then when the Darnold trade was made, a few people stepped back from that and said that Tepper pulled the strings on it. That there wasn't alignment on the move across the FO. I want to see what happens when these cracks show. How Rhule will react. How Tepper will react. How would another couple of losing seasons stress the model?

I think Tepper is still trying to navigate the how to "own" when it comes to football decisions. I can't see him giving Rhule a really long leash if the team continues to plod along, but I don't see them digging out of that hole quickly. That division is tough too.
