NFT: D-Day Anniversary

BamaBlue : 6/6/2021 4:30 pm
Today, June 6th is the 77th Anniversary of the greatest invasion in human history. Here is a link to the D-Day broadcast from Dwight Eisenhower, the Supreme Allied Commander. He made a decision that changed the world.

there are up to about 2,500 D-Day vets still alive. God bless them all.

an estimated 8 hour break in the weather by his weather man...now that takes balls (the guy predicting the weather).
It’s shown pretty well

in the Longest Day. Ike almost had no choice. If they postponed until July the secret would have for sure gotten out and any advantage of surprise would have been lost.

Yeah. There's no way that remains a secret that long. Tremendously heroic...if I had been around during those days, I'd venture to guess we'd all be speaking German right now.
The D-Day intelligence and deception plan...

wasn't widely known and not acknowledged until the 1970's. It is considered (as far as we know), the greatest and most complex wartime deception plan ever conceived. It was at least as comprehensive and complex as the invasion plan itself.

There is an outstanding and highly regarded book that documented this plan. "Bodyguard of Lies", by Anthony Cave Brown is the definitive book on the subject. It is full of intrigue, genius and luck.
