NFT: Saratoga bachelor party

Eli4mvp2005 : 6/6/2021 8:46 pm
Decided on Saratoga, NY for my bachelor party next month to keep things relatively local during the pandemic. Anyone familiar with the area and have any good recommendations? We’re thinking of doing golf, breweries/wineries, steakhouse the first day and then heading to the race tracks on Sunday. Thanks in advance!

and it's an interesting choice. Not saying it's wrong at all. But have you considered renting a lake house on Lake George with access to a boat (even if it's a pontoon jobber which is fun as hell) right on the water? You can get a vrbo or abnb for a song right now. All that, plus you have easy access to Saratoga - 20 minutes away - without paying for an overpriced hotel or rental in town during track season.

I would even consider Great Sacandaga Lake, a house rental, boat rental from the marina in Mayfield on the west side of the lake and only 25 minutes from Saratoga.
Congrats

Prime at Saratoga National is a fabulous steak house.
Prime is very good

I know the owners and they have a great restaurant. A bit overpriced of I'm being honest, but excellent.

A couple others would be Mortons (I typically don't recommend a chain but it's in the casino so you can gamble a bit too if that is of interest).

And Salt & Char. Probably third best, imo.

Gotta hit Hattie's for fried chicken too.

15 Church, Osteria, Olde Bryan Inn, Mrs. London's, Ravenous, and Chianti's are all excellent. Tons of choices.

And go get a tattoo at Gold Tiger while you're at it.
Thanks all!

We did end up picking an Airbnb about 15-20 min outside Saratoga near a lake, so we’ll have a bunch of options. The Airbnb choices in Saratoga itself weren’t great...but planning to spend a good amount of time there.

Race track opens mid July.

As for golf -National is great, but that time of year is $$$$$$.

The state park course is pretty good and much more reasonably priced.

Tons of bars, just walk around town and you can't go wrong.

Have fun.

Loved this place when a few years back. So cool inside.
If its track season

After the track hit up The Hoarshoe, it might not look all that pretty but the drinks are good and there are sure to be tons of people.

Also after the shoe head down town and head on over to Djangos but as all the other individuals have said you can't go wrong anytime in saratoga. I live about 15 minutes from there.

Agree on the Horseshoe - I ran into Dave Portnoy there a few years ago.

I agree, I can't add much about Saratoga but I have been here. It's really old and really cool, they had good beer on tap and the food was good. Supposed to be haunted too... lol
Do you like sushi?
Bill L : 6/7/2021 9:43 am : link
My new favorite place is Wasabi (soon to open a second location in Albany, so much closer for me). All you can eat sushi but not just sushi; their entire menu opens up (apps, hibachi, udon, etc). If you like Indian, Karavalli is awesome.
Sounds baller

Fun tiny martini bar, hit it up for a drink if you can get in.

Day drinking - I like Henry street, either Henry street taproom or flatbread social, which is pizzas and good drinks next door. Some shuffle board tables too.

If you guys are beer snobs then duck into pint sized for a draft.

Salt and char isn’t my favorite but it’s probably a good pick if you’re looking for steak.
Okay so you are going to end up in all likliehood at
bhill410 : 6/9/2021 9:04 am : link
Gaffneys or the 4 story one across the street (or likely both). There are a couple of cool bars on Caroline street and the off shoots but don’t fool yourself as to where you will end up. Personally I would do track on Saturday but as folks alluded too make sure you head to hoarshoe which is right outside the track. Plenty of golf courses for your other day excursion.

I think they have ubers up there now so that shouldn’t be a problem but make sure you check the app at where ever your Airbnb is, since it can be spotty. Cabs used to be a disaster up there.

Also worth reminding is bars close at 4, which can ruin your subsequent day pretty fast.
