he'll eventually enter a guilty plea to something. don't get all up in arms yet. its rare to plea to an indictment on unsealing. one of my mentors who does that work once had his client enter a guilty plea at arraignment. when i read the story in the paper and asked him why he said because there was perhaps more to be had on him, they just didn't have it yet.

I certainly made mental leaps with regards to this case, but only based on personal interpretation that a wealthy, connected person such as Reid will be such a benefactor as many have been before. However, my prediction is he’ll get “first offender” leniency, aka he’s protectors class.

I don’t know how heavily his prior offenses (in various states) will weigh against him, or how much his father’s wealth and fame will help.

Even in the old West people were given a trial before hanging(most of the time).
I actually find it hard to believe he will get a plea deal. Pretty much every factor is against him, he has no excuses or mitigating factors. The defense team probably wants to deal with the civil suit before dealing with the legal issues.

perhaps not in the criminal case, but certainly in any civil suit. The human part of this is obviously tragic; the optics of this for the Reid family, the Chiefs and the NFL are appalling.
Yes he did not commit the act but he brought his son into the organization. Sorry, but I don't think he just had a few beers on that day.
People deserve second chances but bringing his son into a high pressure role was not the best option dn he also should be held accountable imo. A little girl has had here life totally altered and she did nothing wrong to deserve this. I am actually surprised more of the Chiefs fans have not called for his dismissal.

In 2007, he plead guilty to gun and drug charges from a road-rage dispute. He also plead guilty to DUI and drug charges from a separate incident that same year.
For their part, the Chiefs did nothing. Britt Reid went on administrative leave on February 11th (he still got paid), before the team decided to let his contract expire.
Especially if there is a civil trial looming that could go faster than the criminal trial? The result of the criminal trial would be used as a basis of fact in the civil trial (doesn’t work the other way around).
I would almost never advise a client to ever plead guilty in the first instance unless they’re being offered something or need to throw themselves at the mercy of the court (rare!). You don’t need to plead guilty to be contrite, and those are two different matters. This is a process.

Although there was just a kid locally that was an avid drag racer in Tampa and killed a woman and her kid in a stroller that were jaywalking. He was going 100mph on a road that has the longest stretch of sidewalk on the water in the country. There's a billion pedestrains, cyclists, and runners and some clowns are defending that guy because they jaywalked. Also avid drag racing dipshits. I don't even think drunk drivers are defending this guy.
