Top moments in MetLife Stadium history?

BigBlue89 : 6/8/2021 11:43 am
With the passing of Jim Fassel, I was thinking how that 41-0 NFC Championship game was one of the best moments in Giants Stadium history.

What can we put up there for the 11 years we've had MetLife?

Giants/Falcons 1/8/2012 - First (and still only) playoff game at MetLife stadium, Giants defense shuts out the Falcons offense including big 4th down stops

Giants/Cowboys 1/1/2012 - Giants win the Division over their hated rivals

Giants/Jets 12/24/2011 - Giants shut up Rex and the Jets and Victor Cruz goes 99 tying an NFL record

Honorable mention

Giants Bucs 9/16/2012 - Nicks goes 10 for 199 and Cruz goes 11 for 179 with Eli throwing for 510, though Nicks was never the same after that.

Not a big game by any stretch

But it was nice to win the first regular season game in the joint vs Carolina in 2010.
We really haven't done shit in MetLife...

Odell's catch is famous... but we still lost that fucking game. IDK. Beating Dallas at home in 2016, big game, Jack Rabbit seemed to end Dez Bryant's career in that game, wrote the book on how to shut him down. Low scoring but great game.
Well, I’ve only been to one game

So that win (vs Ravens, 2016) was definitely a top moment.

When we went toe to toe with the Patriots as they finished the season undefeated. If there was ever such thing as a moral victory that was it. Classic Tom Coughlin team moment.

Wasn't that Giants Stadium?
Obviously has to be the Falcon's playoff game..

but for me I remember the Skins game where Manning hits Cruz late for the TD after RGIII had tossed a TD to Moss.

SFGFNCGiantsFan : 6/8/2021 12:29 pm : link
I guess just the win vs. the Hawks in the '11 WC game. Other than that, nothing comes to mind.

The stadium sucks BTW.

Oops….you’re right. And I was there too.

Maybe throw in the 2016 Dallas game they won 10-7 with those already mentioned but both the Jets and Giants have just been dreadful the past decade.

Guns n Roses in summer of 2016 is my second best MetLife Stadium experience after the Atlanta playoff game.

has been a horror show for the Giants.

It's a pretty lame stadium and the team can't seem to win games there either.

Anyone over 60 will never see that day. Essentially, the Sopranos built a block of concrete that looks like a massive diner on Route 46, but on Route 3.

And TWO teams paid for it. And look what Atlanta got for close to the same money.

in 2012 was absolutely wild.

The last 8 years for that stadium have been a joke. 8 years of forgettable football
In fairness, the Giants won a Super Bowl while at MetLife..

& it’s only going into its 12th season. So it isn’t been ALL bad, but definitely mostly bad. As for top memories:

-Victor Cruz TD against the Jets although that was technically a road game.
-Beating Dallas on the season finale in 2011
-Beating the Falcons 24-2 in the playoffs
-Beating Dallas 10-7 in 2016
-Beckham one handed catch (I think this is overrated personally, but fans clearly love it. It was voted #1 moment on SNF history.)

Slim pickings obviously.
I’d also add..
Sean : 6/8/2021 2:24 pm : link
The Tampa game in 2012 which is mentioned above, and the late go ahead TD Eli to Cruz against the Redskins in 2012.
You can sum up the sentiments of this thread

Been to a handful of games, but god damn I was at that GNR show too and it was unforgettable.

2016 Ravens game was pretty fun.

Agree with others, that place is a dump and a horror show. It's just a place for bad football and the first thing I think of is all the away loser fans taking over the stadium at the end of nearly every game there.

Loser team. Loser management. Loser players. Loser coaches.

Good call on the '12 Bucs game, '16 Ravens, & '11 Jets game.

I've been to Metlife once-Bears vs. Giants, December '18-and...I'm good. The place blows. It has no atmosphere. I miss the old Giants Stadium.

Jenkins is a high variance corner. Kind of reminds me of Eli in that respect. He was ELITE that year. But Dezs career was over when he broke his foot. He was a terrible route runner and when he lost his ability to cut even close to explosively off one foot, he became an easy cover.
Will let you keep going as I take mental notes.

One of greatest moments at MetLife not mentioned
kinard : 6/8/2021 8:52 pm : link
... had to be Eli's last start and win against the Dolphins.

Shurmer did a nice job pulling him from the game with 2 minutes left so Eli could hear the fans chant his name one last time and thank him for the memories.

Maybe not a meaningful game but it was sure as hell memorable.

Eh, the team playing like shit has a lot to do with that.

There was a game the Giants actually breast the eagles which in itself is exciting. Then there was a game against the saints that I went to with Montreal Man, which was always a good time
I went to the October 3, 2010 game vs. the Bears

in the first season of Metlife. That's the game where we sacked Cutler 10 times and really beat the shit out of him. It was also the first Ring of Honor ceremony in the new stadium at halftime. That was a fun one to go to.

Also went to the first game of the 2012 season coming off SB 46, in which we lost to Dallas. That wasn't such a fun one to attend.

Yeah, I guess Eli’s last game. Definitely Victah saving Christmas. Pretty sure it was MetLife where they had monkeys riding on dogs at a half time show. That’s all I got for now…

with the 2016 run. Rest has been garbage befitting that shitbox of a stadium. They did everything wrong with the fan experience - parking, traffic, entering the stadium, sightlines and seat design.

The Legacy Club is fun and some of the expensive suites are nice but the average fan got dealt an atrocious hand.

I know I've said this before, but damm there are so many forgettable games the Giants have "competed" in during the last 10 years. A good chunk of the early Coughlin years (2005-2012) I could name you almost every game and remember what happened.

I forgot about that 2018 home game vs Chicago lol I had to look up the schedule to see who won and it was right after that pathetic game against the Eagles on the road. Shurmur should've been fired right then and there. And then what happens? They blow it two more times in 2019 and 2020 in Philly. What a joke.

I used to take it personal with Tuck, Eli, Jacobs, Bradshaw, Tynes, Strahan, Nicks, Cruz, Pierce, Osi, JPP, Toomer, Plaxico etc. but these recent players just ... kinda suck lol win SOMETHING for Johnny Peppers sake.
