Giants finalize preseason schedule

Or will we see an acceleration of the trend where no starters play in the preseason at all

Giants-Browns joint practices coming this August in Cleveland.

Giants used to schedule an annual preseason game at the Yale Bowl back in the 60s/early 70s... and they were all afternoon games. (I attended three of them, including the first ever meeting of the Giants and Jets.)

Also, the final preseason game in '99 (against the Ravens in Baltimore) was rescheduled for late morning due to a schedule conflict with the Orioles.

So, it will be a good test to see how the Giants perform.

Giants used to play day-time annual pre-season games against Iggles in Princeton late 60s-early 70s. These were the only games my father, brother and I got to see Giants play in person together. Then there was the infamous Giants-Jets preseason game in 1969, maybe my lowest moment as a Giants fan. I think Allie Sherman was fired the next day.

I am so glad a joint practice is scheduled again this pre-season. It gives players a great opportunity to practice with live opponents.

They got shut out 21-0.

I remember Roger Lewis dropping a pass over the middle and deciding I didn't like him, an opinion that never changed.

Also remember Donte Deayon (who I wanted to like) getting beat for a TD.

Deayon is still on an NFL roster (Rams), remarkably enough, even though he has only appeared in 3 games since leaving the Giants in 2018.

Lewis, predictably, drew no interest from the rest of the league when he was finally let go by NYG.

Jim and Clatterbuck, I was at that first ever Giants/Jets game at Yale Bowl, Woodstock weekend. That was my priority over that history making musical event..😎

It was played on 8.17.69, my birthday..I think they slaughtered us 37-14 and iirc, the Jets’ Mike Battle ran back the opening KO for a TD..

And yes, Allie was fired the next day with Webster being hired as our next HC..
