NFT: Adam Fox - Norris Finalist

ShockNRoll : 6/9/2021 1:32 pm
I know the other New York team is actually still playing and putting together what looks like it will be another deep playoff run, but after a bizarre season for the Rangers, it's nice to see Fox recognized as one of the top D in the league, and I think he has a reasonably good chance of winning. It's Fox, Makar, and Hedman. I think it's really a 2 man race between Fox and Hedman. Good luck Foxy!

But I think Hedman has it in the bag.
Hedman

Is an established star defender. He will win it, by a pretty big margin.
Hedman

doesn't even play against the other teams best lines. I know it is all about offense but there is no way he should win it over Fox.

Along with who defenders skate with, their quality of competition should be analyzed. Hedman and Petry, for example, don’t take on the toughest matchups for their teams; Ryan McDonagh and Erik Cernak absorb those minutes for the Bolts while Shea Weber and Ben Chiarot (when healthy) carry that load in Montreal. Fox, Pelech and Pulock, on the other hand, take on some of the most challenging opponents in the league.

it could be good (in the long term) that he doesn't win it. He is going to have to get paid after next year, and he is already running that total way up. The Norris would solidify the fact that they would have to pay him a top 3/5 NHL D salary, and that would be tough to absorb.
I don't think it's between Fox and Hedman

at all, I think it's likely Makar and Fox and Makar wins.

I think they should be 1-2 but Makar missed about 15-20% of season with injury, which could hurt him with voters.
