NYGiantsRush: Jake Ballard Interview

gmen9892 : 6/9/2021 4:01 pm
Good dude and an even better interview. His passion/anger for how his release went down REALLY came through during the discussion.

Needless to say, I don't think he will be having Jerry Reese over for any BBQ's anytime soon.

Haven’t read the interview, but JB’s knee was effectively

shattered. Can’t blame Reese for his release, imv..He tried to come back with the Pats, but it was to no avail.
for a guy his size

he had some great moves to get open, and incredibly soft hands. He made some big time catches that season. HUGE

recent receivers for the Giants, they lost both Boss and Ballard way too soon. They were huge assets to Eli and came up huge when it mattered most.
we "almost" had so many good TE's...

I really had hopes for Boss especially.

And why I think (a healthy) Rudolph can/will be huge for DJ and this O

It is crazy honestly. I mean I know injuries happen in the NFL, but Boss, Ballard, Nicks, Cruz, Steve Smith, and let’s be honest, OBJ. It’s a curse that I’m hoping is gone.
They have had a great lineup of guests

Whenever I think of Ballard, I think of that catch he made in '11 vs. the Pats up in Foxboro. Helluva catch.

the fact the front office never was able to give Eli a TE who could operate at a high level really helped lead us to where we are today. Ballard and Boss were huge contributors to our success.

Yes, this. As good as Bradshaw’s TD run in the freezing rain in Buffalo.
Him being upset at his release makes no sense

He played in 3 more games in his career after that injury. Reese didn't end his career. The injury did.
That knee..

injury was devastating.

I'm sure there are some laughs to be had in the archives at the people who went apeshit about Little Bill "stealing" Ballard from us.

I always think of him trying to run on the sideline during the Super Bowl and crumpling to the ground in pain. It was such a heartbreaking moment.

said it many times in the past on this site, but Jake Ballard was one of the most underrated performers on that Super Bowl team. He made a number of huge catches that season. He was a darkhorse who came out of nowhere. No one expected that kind of productivity from him.
Recall the regular season matchup against the Patriots
NYGgolfer : 6/10/2021 9:45 am : link
that year. Ballard had a big game and made a highlight catch worthy of being near the top in a year full of big plays by the receivers.
no one ever showed more passion than Jake Ballard
GMAN4LIFE : 6/10/2021 9:45 am : link
trying to get back into the Super Bowl game. WHen they showed him doing the "cut" and him falling down was heart breaking.

the guy was automatic on getting the ball. Hands were great.
