NFT: Medical Marijuana Card- Anyone have one?

GMAN4LIFE : 6/11/2021 12:56 pm
So signed up for it and just waiting for the State to give the approval. Got the approval from my primary and then a doctor that approves those cards. Im looking to come off my ssri and want this for anxiety.

Question for you, any tips for mj to buy? not looking to smoke but to ingest as i just dont like smoking.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.
if you have anxiety stay away from sativa
UConn4523 : 6/11/2021 12:59 pm : link
i'm pretty much indica only.

I was going to get my card but here in CT you have to renew it every year which requires the doc appointment + re-registering for it with the state so its basically $200-$250 per year. I've got plenty of friends with cards so I just go through them. Its a scam in CT right now which sucks.

Never bothered getting my card here in FL because apparently the weed is garbage. I recently tried the delta 9 stuff and bought a sativa package and an indica. I took a 25mg gummy and my anxiety skyrocketed and needed a 3 hour nap. The indica felt way more clean to me. Was blown away at how strong Delta 9 felt to me as well.

The last time I had what I knew was specifically Sativa I was a freshman at Virginia Tech smoking it with Yasser Arafat’s nephew that brought it in on diplomatic bag. Very interesting experience.
What state do you live in?
pjcas18 : 6/11/2021 1:12 pm : link
in MA you just go to the dispensary and tell them what you're looking for and they will make recommendations for you.

Sounds like you want gummies or chocolates.

I think they recommend CBD for anxiety (5 mg CBD, 5 MG THC, etc. in each gummy).
Have no card but honestly MJ does little for me
Payasdaddy : 6/11/2021 1:15 pm : link
I take an edible indica to sleep better at times, maybe 5mg max
Doesn’t really do a lot right now
I don’t enjoy being stoned anymore, did was when I was young. At 57, just have too much serious thoughts in my mind to go back to my dazed and confused days
Why is a card still needed? Isn’t it almost legal anywhere? Or I been living in California too long?

The weed isn't garbage here. I have my card. Plenty of good product.

Also a 25mg gummy is gonna send most people over the edge. I am a looooong time cannabis user, and I would not take a 25mg gummy. I like to keep my dosage around 10mg for nice, smooth buzz.

I recommend most new users start with 3-5mg and see how they react, and then dial it up over time.

It needs to be. I'm a lightweight and my intake it low. It would be hard for me to spend more than a $300-$400 per year since I vape small amounts 1-2x per week. So my weed is basically double the price here if i'm paying $250 per year for the card. Its robbery.
a 25mg
pjcas18 : 6/11/2021 1:47 pm : link
gummy would knock out cheech and chong. that's a massive amount, lol.
I recently had my annual eye exam.
Klaatu : 6/11/2021 1:47 pm : link
I asked my doctor if I could get a prescription for medical marijuana to deal with my glaucoma. He said I didn't have glaucoma. So I stole a line from "Two and a Half Men" and said, "What are you, a cop?" He did not get the joke.
I had one in NY
OBJ_AllDay : 6/11/2021 1:52 pm : link
Let it expire and never renewed. Prices were outrageous. It helped following my hip surgery though.
Mass is just far enough
UConn4523 : 6/11/2021 2:06 pm : link
for me (90 minutes) where I don’t go for it but I have some from their and it’s good. Most strains are $55 per 1/8 or less. It’s a premium but atleast you know it’s clean.

I second that just got mine a couple months ago. As someone who has smoked a long time it’s still like walking into Willy Wonka’s when I go lol.
I have mine in Mass
mgreenie03 : 6/11/2021 2:11 pm : link
but I go to the Maine dispensaries as they are far less expensive than Mass. I live about 30mins from the Maine border so it really isn't that far for me to go, plus its a nice ride. I often see cars from NY, CT and NJ in the parking lots of the Maine dispensaries I go to.

As others have said, stay away from the Sativa dominated strains. You may have to try different types of edibles to see what works best for you. Start off with a low dose, 5-10mg, maybe something like a lollipop to see how it affects you.

For license renewals, it was $150 for the certification and the license renewal was free.

I don’t know about up there but in florida when you renew they give you big discounts that if used correctly more than make up the cost. I buy for the month so the discount paid for the pricier initial cost
My wife just got hers this week.
NoPeanutz : 6/11/2021 2:26 pm : link
No idea what to do about it... we will go to the dispensary together and consult with them about what and how she (we) needs.
Those of you saying 25mg is over the top - full spectrum or distillate
mgreenie03 : 6/11/2021 2:34 pm : link
? There is a big difference between the 2. I have 25mg distillate lollipops and they are just ok. I've had 25mg full spectrum oil lollipops and they are much better.

I am an everyday smoker.
…..also have medical card from Ma
Massgman : 6/11/2021 2:35 pm : link
Hate smoking the stuff but HAPPY with the edibles. The best for me however is the indica (THC) infused tincture by wishing well. If you have trouble sleeping as I do 6 or 7 drops of this stuff under the tongue will do the trick, if not, take some melatonin with it and it’s sayonara…….also of note, medical marijuana is not taxed in Massachusetts
Out here in Vegas it's like going to a bakery
gtt350 : 6/11/2021 2:54 pm : link
The edible section , the vape section the bud section
A very happy,friendly place
I never thought I'd live to see the day and to blow my mind
further I get a senior discount
This has become a lot simpler here in SoCal
81_Great_Dane : 6/11/2021 2:56 pm : link
since legalization. No card needed. But paradoxically a lot of the dispensaries closed when it was legalized. A sign of the times: The Starbucks nearest my place closed during the pandemic and has been replaced by a Pineapple Express weed store.

Last week I started using a THC edible as a sleep aid. I don't know that I fall asleep faster but I sleep more soundly for sure and I have to get up less often. On the other hand, I gather that THC stays in your system for a while, so I should be careful about that, because I don't want to be sleepy during the day.
To counter the anti Sativa comments above I love sativa.
gtt350 : 6/11/2021 2:59 pm : link
It's upbeat, you're entertained and if you want you can actually get things done

Oh I'm a long-time user (more than half my life now) and until recently worked in the industry. I was talking about Delta 9 which I had never tried before and was told was weak. I felt practically the same I would have on normal Delta 8.

I'm not anti-Sativa, its just not something i'd recommend for someone that has anxiety. For most people going to make your heart race and you are going to be more energetic.

I'm almost exclusively Indica because its just calmer for me and it does what I want it to, it relaxes me without feeling like i'm on speed. I also don't really get couch lock from it unless I really go overboard.

requires heavier doses than thc strains.

THC strain 2.5-5mg, depending on how your system processes, is a good place to start.

As mentioned, indica is better for anxiety. I prefer hybrids.

Good luck.

Have you guys tried the CBD delta 8 and/or 3-chi products? They work great and you can get it anywhere as well as online.

adevin25 : 6/11/2021 4:24 pm : link
I can say and someone said it earlier the stuff is clean. You don't have to worry about vaping glue or anything like that.

However if you are in NY the edible section is meh... and limited. Hoping it gets better with recreational dispensaries coming online in the next 12 to 18 months. Indica vs sativa, my suggestion is talk to the pharmacist explain what you are suffering from and they will make recommendations. I also recommend if you are vaping try a couple of disposable pens.. Its a cheaper way to find initially what works.

The are no indica and sativa

At this point, all strands hybrid/blended descendants. Even same strands grown in CA vs. OR vs. CO will have different effects - let alone from person to person.
