So signed up for it and just waiting for the State to give the approval. Got the approval from my primary and then a doctor that approves those cards. Im looking to come off my ssri and want this for anxiety.
Question for you, any tips for mj to buy? not looking to smoke but to ingest as i just dont like smoking.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I was going to get my card but here in CT you have to renew it every year which requires the doc appointment + re-registering for it with the state so its basically $200-$250 per year. I've got plenty of friends with cards so I just go through them. Its a scam in CT right now which sucks.

Never bothered getting my card here in FL because apparently the weed is garbage. I recently tried the delta 9 stuff and bought a sativa package and an indica. I took a 25mg gummy and my anxiety skyrocketed and needed a 3 hour nap. The indica felt way more clean to me. Was blown away at how strong Delta 9 felt to me as well.
The last time I had what I knew was specifically Sativa I was a freshman at Virginia Tech smoking it with Yasser Arafat’s nephew that brought it in on diplomatic bag. Very interesting experience.
Sounds like you want gummies or chocolates.
I think they recommend CBD for anxiety (5 mg CBD, 5 MG THC, etc. in each gummy).
Doesn’t really do a lot right now
I don’t enjoy being stoned anymore, did was when I was young. At 57, just have too much serious thoughts in my mind to go back to my dazed and confused days
Why is a card still needed? Isn’t it almost legal anywhere? Or I been living in California too long?

i'm pretty much indica only.

The weed isn't garbage here. I have my card. Plenty of good product.
Also a 25mg gummy is gonna send most people over the edge. I am a looooong time cannabis user, and I would not take a 25mg gummy. I like to keep my dosage around 10mg for nice, smooth buzz.
I recommend most new users start with 3-5mg and see how they react, and then dial it up over time.

Gonna be legal here before you know it...

It needs to be. I'm a lightweight and my intake it low. It would be hard for me to spend more than a $300-$400 per year since I vape small amounts 1-2x per week. So my weed is basically double the price here if i'm paying $250 per year for the card. Its robbery.

I second that just got mine a couple months ago. As someone who has smoked a long time it’s still like walking into Willy Wonka’s when I go lol.
As others have said, stay away from the Sativa dominated strains. You may have to try different types of edibles to see what works best for you. Start off with a low dose, 5-10mg, maybe something like a lollipop to see how it affects you.
For license renewals, it was $150 for the certification and the license renewal was free.

I don’t know about up there but in florida when you renew they give you big discounts that if used correctly more than make up the cost. I buy for the month so the discount paid for the pricier initial cost
I am an everyday smoker.
A very happy,friendly place
I never thought I'd live to see the day and to blow my mind
further I get a senior discount
Last week I started using a THC edible as a sleep aid. I don't know that I fall asleep faster but I sleep more soundly for sure and I have to get up less often. On the other hand, I gather that THC stays in your system for a while, so I should be careful about that, because I don't want to be sleepy during the day.

Oh I'm a long-time user (more than half my life now) and until recently worked in the industry. I was talking about Delta 9 which I had never tried before and was told was weak. I felt practically the same I would have on normal Delta 8.
I'm not anti-Sativa, its just not something i'd recommend for someone that has anxiety. For most people going to make your heart race and you are going to be more energetic.
I'm almost exclusively Indica because its just calmer for me and it does what I want it to, it relaxes me without feeling like i'm on speed. I also don't really get couch lock from it unless I really go overboard.
Pfft. Back in the day I could smoke Rastas under the table. Bring it on!
THC strain 2.5-5mg, depending on how your system processes, is a good place to start.
As mentioned, indica is better for anxiety. I prefer hybrids.
Good luck.
However if you are in NY the edible section is meh... and limited. Hoping it gets better with recreational dispensaries coming online in the next 12 to 18 months. Indica vs sativa, my suggestion is talk to the pharmacist explain what you are suffering from and they will make recommendations. I also recommend if you are vaping try a couple of disposable pens.. Its a cheaper way to find initially what works.
So?
Why is alcohol legal?
cigarettes?
gambling (including lottery and scratch tickets)?
etc?
And keeping it illegal is all about Big Pharma collecting revenue.

Good stuff to read even from a non-partaker.
