Today’s developments reminded of that press conference. Yikes.
I was pretty excited after the 2019 draft, adding 3 players to the secondary (Baker, Ballentine, Love), after adding Beal in the supplemental the year before. But dodo bird Jenkins as the ringleader?
Very glad those days seem to be over.
Must be tired after sucking that gettlehog to make this post.
He drafted Bradberry so he knows the position? What about trading picks for Baker? Using another high pick on Beal?
Love is our fourth string safety. Holmes? They replaced him with another third round CB pick.
Our best CBs are FA acquisitions not draft picks. FOH.

Pretty much all late rnd picks except Baker. But CB's bust in the first rnd all the time. Gettleman drafted Bradburry so he knows the position. And Love is seen as someone with starter ability. Thats pretty good for 4th rnd. CB is just a weird weird position in the nfl.

geezuz, Baker would still be here if the :gun: incident didn't happen. And as for moving to get him, so the heck what? He was the highest rated CB on the board.
Love is a very good #4 safety and he plays a decent CB when needed. You are really stretching this dislike on this point - in fact it is very weak. He is the kind of player you need to improve a roster - good enough to start where you don't lose much if injuries hit the DBs.
Holmes has not been replaced by a guy that was held out for some reason during OTAs. Let us see it on the field before you declare a rookie a starter. And even if it does happen, referring to Love - Holmes started and played pretty well at a position he did no play in college. Again, you have, at worst, a player that can respectably start if needed.
Hopefully, with the new scouts people and program in place, coaches connected to key programs....they will have more hits....the last two drafts look great.
Holmes and Love are good depth. I agree with that.

The secondary before Gettleman got here...
Janoris Jenkins, Ross Cockrell, Eli Apple, Dominique Rodgers Cromartie, Brandon Dixon, Landon Collins, Darian Thompson, Andrew Adams, Nat Berhe.
compared to now...
James Bradberry, Adoree Jackson, Darnay Holmes, Aaron Robinson, Logan Ryan, Jabril Peppers, Xavier McKinney, Julian Love
So yeah he knows what the fuck he's doing obviously. Our "4th string safety" would have easily been our 2nd best safety back then...
DG also improved the OL (slightly), the RB room, the WRs, the DL, the LBs... the list goes on guys... two 1s next year... haters gotta hate i guess
In the midst of the culture fix— those fools designated Janoris Jenkins — a guy who was suspended for blowing off practice, walked off the field during a game, and lent his house to his ex-con brother who then killed a dude in in it — as the teacher of puppies.
After two off seasons, the Giants secondary was Jenkins/Baker/Haley/Peppers/Bathea with Beal, Ballentine, and Love +. That’s a riot.
No surprise Baker and Beal proved to be morons, and Jenkins continued to be a moron.
Also no surprise Judge cleaned out the player development department, hired a PHD to run it.
In the same time it took to construct the clown car of 2019, the Giants have Bradberry/Jackson/Robinson/Peppers/Ryan/McKinney.
LOL — Janoris Jenkins had one very good year as a Giant, and was hot garbage and a total head case most of the next 2.5 years.

People act here like McAdoo should be remembered better than Shurmur here when this was the biggest factor of us making playoffs that year. JJ is a super high variance corner that was arguably best in NFL that year. Combine that with a guy who can singlehabdedly stop running games, Vernon giving some consistent pressure, and OBJ doing OBJ things it was just enough to eek out 11 wins. It wasn’t like we were winning games convincingly week in week out. Relying on JJ to play like that was clearly not sustainable.

There is a certain homerism that knows no bounds. The post after you mentioning Baker is just too laughable of an excuse to really print. And these posters will give credit in any way to a player developing because they knew the character of the player they drafted BUT when it comes to ripping on DG in any manner the other way--
forget it!!

The team was hot garbage the next 2.5
Going from Spags to Bettcher killed us.
How quick people forget. Hating on Jenkins for no damn reason, now he sucked not only as a person but a player...
Janoris, Sehorn and Bradberry are the 3 best corners we've had in 25 years easily but he's hot garbage in your opinion, okay, great take..
He sucked the following 2.5 years? Says who? He didnt repeat '16 exactly but he continued to snag INTs until his time came... like I said hating on Janoris, you just don't sound to bright, guy was one of the best corners we've had the last 20 years. Name some giants corners that have been better...
That deserves plenty of hardy laughter.
Shurmur and Bettcher sucked so much at teaching/coaching they had Janoris be their #1 corner and the teacher... yup its all Janoris's fault... I guess he was supposed to train them up and cover both sides of the field in order for him to be considered good here by some... you guys sound crazy

Remember it like Christian. Jenkins only really played well in 2016. He was very solid that year and really picked up his game to match the defense that caught fire as the season went on and into the playoffs.
But when the team floundered the next season and further, he went right along with the floundering and often helped that bad momentum continue with his play in the field and off.
He was a bit more careful in his efforts with Saints but for the NYGs he was what you look to avoid...
Janoris Jenkins had suspect commitment, character, judgement, and surroundings.
I don’t care what words they used. He did absolutely nothing in his time as a Giant to garner trust as a leader.
And what did he do after the Giants granted him that trust? He got fired for making a fool of himself on Twitter.
There’s no mystery why Judge overhauled the player development program immediately.
Jenkins was banged up in 2017, got suspended for not returning from the bye, stormed off the field after Manning fumbled away a game.
In 2018 Jenkins was downright terrible. He gave 6 TDs, 63% catch date against, and a 98 quarterback rating against. B.W. Webb had a better year.
Better corners than Janoris Jenkins? Bradberry, Webster, Amukamara, DRC, Sehorn, Will Allen.

Gettleman and Shurmur were giving JJ an opportunity to be team leader which is understandable even if you don't like the words used to describe it.

Fine, I can see why they gave him a chance to be a leader. He was asked to step up and he didn't.
What were the things he showed in his time as a Giant that indicated he was going to do that?

Webster, Amukamara and Will Allen... you gotta be joking... you can't be serious. You must be holding a grudge based on your personal opinion of his character you are not remembering his play if you think Will Allen, Prince Amukamara and Corey Webster are better NFL CBs than Janoris Jenkins.
He was banged up in 2017, terrible in 2018, and unremarkable in 2019.
If the question is “which corner had the best single season,” — Jenkins probably wins.
What were the things he showed in his time as a Giant that indicated he was going to do that?
Sometimes you simply give someone a chance to step up.
