First of all, I'm still a bit irritated that we don't have the 5 team conference including the St Louis Cardinals. Back then the Redskins were a rival and the Cardinals were irrelevant scheduled padding.
Cowboys = RIVAL
I don't hate the Cowboys though I dislike all of the typical things about them. If I learn someone is a Cowboys fan, I find that just slightly distasteful. It's like finding out they once dated their cousin. But I also have a certain amount of respect for the organization and I can understand their fans.
All heroes need a "worthy" rival and for me, the Cowboys are that. It is most satisfying to me when we line up against them on Sunday, both teams at near full strength, no excuses, no limitation, and we beat them. I "root" for the Cowboys to have no injuries, no awful luck, competent staff, competent team, because I want our guys to be even better.
Eli autographed the visitor locker room with a sharpie pen after they won the inaugural game at ATT. I love that.
Eagles = FOE
I HATE the Eagles. I hate their fans. I hate them so much that I hate the entire city of Philadelphia. I hate Rocky. I hate the cute brass pig. I hate the entire region from New Castle DE up to Doylestown PA and everything in NJ below Trenton. I hate the Inquirer. I hate WIP. I hate Merril Reese. I hated the Vet (painted concrete) and I hate the Linc. I love that there is a judge and a jail there. I think you should be put in jail just for being an Eagles fan. I hate the guy in the Cunningham jersey that kicked Hitchbot to death.
It literally bothers me that the Eagles are in our league much less our division.
If the Cowboys are our (relatively) worthy rival, the one you would help up once you had him pinned and the fight is won... the Eagles are our disguising hated evil arch nemesis, the ones that after you defeated them, you'd crush them into pieces then launch the pieces into the sun to be disintegrated forever. Morals be damned.
I actually wish the Cardinals had stayed in our division and instead the Eagles got booted from the league. If the league is inevitably going to expand internationally, please please PLEASE can we have the Mexico City Eagles?? Breathe that smog you bastards.
The WTF's = Irrelevant
30 years ago I respected the Redskins organization and considered them junior rivals. I respected their fans.
For the last 20 years though, Team Nameless has been a totally awesome clownshow!! It's the best thing in the NFL besides Gmen winning. The expired peanuts... the parking fees for free events... the infighting, the coach carousel, the QB carousel, all the scandals, the blatantly obvious lies, the embarrassing PR, all the failed (re)commitments to fix this or that... I don't think you could invent better storylines for this team then they create themselves. I hope Snyder lives to be older than Mr Burns and never sells the team EVER!!
Foe status? Remember a long time ago when we tied them? 1997 maybe? That was such a boring game. I didn't even care really. I was just kind of ticked off that we only got a 1/2 win. That game could have been against the Bengals, the Dolphins, the Rams... Opponent of the week. That was the end of any rivalry for me. They no longer matter.
I think it is really amusing that when they finally changed their name, they changed it to having no name at all and now you can legit typo their "description" (because they don't have a name) as the WTF's (which I will do now forever and ever and ever)... this is the most Redskins thing ever and the absolute best thing about this team.
SUMMARY
Cowboys - hated but "worthy" rival.
Eagles - hated, loathed, disgusting, wish they would literally be kicked from the league to make the world a better place foe.
Redsk- WTF's - who cares. I think there is more of a rivalry with the 49'ers and the Packers.
So, what do you think? Hate the Cowboys? Respect the Nameless team?
Man, that guy could hit some dingers.
I think they're some of the more attractive WFT fans.
I wouldn't soil the pages of BBI with pictures of Eagles fans.
That's the worst thing about the Cowboys. They have a 4 game winning streak and suddenly there are thousands of new Cowboys fans who claim to have always loved the Cowboys yet they barely even know who the starting WR's are. Jerry smiling and how bout them boys makes my blood boil too! In fact I have a collection of pictures of Jerry and assorted cowboys coaches with pained, disgusted, horrified or just dejected looks while being plastered by the Giants. If I am having a really bad day I scan through those to get a smile going.
Watching the Eagles and Red Sox win championships after long, glorious curses was terrible.
I’ll always pull for the Cowboys and WFTs over the Eagles.
This. The Cowboys and especially their fans are the worst.
Living out west, you don’t run into many Eagles or Redskins fans. But Cowboys fans are like flies; you can find them anywhere and they’re super annoying regardless of where you are.
Hate:
Cowboys 1A
Redskins 1B
Eagles 1C
49ers 1D
Packers 1E
Rest of the NFL; 6 and lower.
They were my number 1 hatred. I have always disliked the Redskins but especially really just enjoy Snyder losing. The Cowboys haven't done anything in a long time, so while I can't stand losing to them, they don't bother me like they used to.
In recent years, the roster has featured some really good dudes with a strong commitment to community service. As much as I wanted that trophy case to stay empty forever, their Super Bowl win was impressive and the aftermath even more so. Meanwhile, the 2017 Giants were among the least likeable teams in the NFL. The contrast was a bit jarring.
The Eagles have a jerk for a coach and trolls for a fan base. Pulling Jalen Hurts went a long way toward fanning the embers of my dormant hatred. I’m sure it will return with full force eventually.
A philthy ritual indeed!!!!
I don't like the Eagles but it's definitely not at the hatred level. As a matter of fact, I dislike the WFT more than the Eagles but that's mainly due to Daniel Snyder. The guy seems like a complete douche.
I'm still proud being the only kid in my 2nd grade class who said he rooted for the Broncos over the Skins in the Super Bowl.
The arrogance of calling themselves “America’s Team”, the thirst-trap cheer leaders, the coked up team…hated them, hate them, will always hate them.
Then Jones era starts and you got this selfish ass, while the Giants owners agreed to revenue sharing and what’s best for the league to set the NFL up, Jones comes in and says how can I maximize MY profit. Then JJ and the triplets and that whole run. Hiring Parcells.
Now the gaudy stadium with the oversized TV and the “art collection.” F it all, I hope a tornado tears it to the ground, shitty art and all.
F the Eagles too.
BBB, I don't hate every individual eagles player. Some I do, but some I respect. Most are meh. I feel so bad for Devonta Smith - the look on his face when he was drafted by the Eagles.
I do wish we had a better stadium. Two teams and the best they could come up with was a grey louvred generic bowl?

“ I've been searching for the daughter of the Devil himself
I've been searching for an angel in white
I've been waiting for a woman who's a little of both”
So we arrive and get off the bus and I'm still doing my obnoxious NYG fan imitation and talking about how things are not bigger in Texas and the Giants are going to demolish the Cowboys this year. One of the people at the ranch greeting us was bigger in Texas. He's like 8 feet tall and really thick. He glares at me and says "I used to play defensive end for the Cowboys. I'll tell you what's bigger in Texas. Our drinks and our steaks. If you want either you're gonna shut the hell up."
"Ok mr Cowboy Sir. I am very sorry. I'll shut up now. Can I please have one of those steaks?"
Strahan wrote in his book that the Redskins Cheerleaders are the Hottest in the NFL. So there's that.

Sorry, Al, I’m going to have to throw a flag for quoting the Eagles on a thread about how hated the Eagles are. I know we were talking about the DCCLs, but we checked replay and the interpretation of the rules with NY and they confirm the foul. We’ll take up the rule this off season at the BBI owners’ meetings with the Rules Committee, but as of now it stands. Also, not at least quoting Witchy Woman.
Hahaha. I hate to disappoint you, but the bickering didn't go away. :)
1. Philly
2. Cowboys
3. Jets (the Rex era really upped my dislike of them)
4. Washington - The only team I feel confident the Giants will sweep before every year. We seem to own them.
Also never like the Drew Brees led Saints and his stat padding in blowouts
I'd prefer Philly, Washington and Baltimore in the East as that would keep yearly travel to a minimum. You can have Sunday night, Monday night and Thursday night games with little impact as these trips are but a few hours each.
But Dallas is even a shorter flight compared to say Denver, AZ, or West Coast games.
I like our schedule this year cause I'm confident we will start 4 - 0 rather than 0 - 4 this year. Or 5 - 0 even! A great start will go with a strong finish as this is a young team.

I went to U of DE also. I hated the eagles before but there I developed a burning hot rage.
I can't believe I never came across this story before! Thanks for the heads up. His demise in Philly comes as no surprise to me.
