Stock, whose fastball touches 101 mph, will square off fellow flamethrower and early NL Cy Young Award favorite Jacob deGrom.
"He's been throwing good," Ross said of Stock. "Starting some games, been attacking hitters, getting after guys, throwing strikes. Obviously he throws hard."
The Cubs claimed Stock, 31, off waivers from the Red Sox this past December. He was in camp this spring as a non-roster invitee before being designated for assignment. They assigned him to Iowa after he cleared waivers.
Stock's first seven appearances with Iowa this season came in relief, including a pair of three-inning outings. He's started his last two appearances, throwing four innings each time.
Stock holds a 4.12 ERA in 19 2/3 innings with Iowa this season, striking out 25 batters compared to just four walks.'
Get those bats ready!
It’s ridiculous. Bullshit. His career high in games started is 14. The dude is always injured.
The two rib eyes were nice too.
So nice to have quality defense in this infield.
Thank you SandyScott
Villar will stay at 3B permanently if he maintains his wRC+ 115. LG, Pillar, and McKinney arent going anywhere. Lindor, Dom, and McCann have all perked up some lately.
You also have Familia who has experience closing
Wow, Alcantra
That send was just not a good play there. He was barely past 3rd when Guilorme received the ball from Pillar.
Rizzo is a god damn smart baseball player.
Lets hope Degrom can give us 7 innings and the bats go to work against the AAA call-up.

Yeah but now we have to suffer through deGrom and Stroman starts. At least we got the split though! ;)
Very un-Mets like
What a turnaround after the sale of the team.
We'll be even better the second time around.
Pads and Cubs sure look legit to me. I’ve enjoyed these last 9 games with these clubs. A real measuring stick and 6-3 to the good is really nice. Be nice when McNeil et al come back to have a few more comfortable wins. But good managing from Luis tonight. Really loved the Lugo usage tonight. A nifty game. Good situational hitting from Alonso tonight as well.

Walker says he signed with the #Mets bc it was the only offer he got, but he was excited to come here with all the players they added and had on the roster. Walker played with Justin Dunn who loved playing for Luis Rojas
The '06 team was up 4.5 games through 59 games (June 8th)...2 weeks later, on June 22 after 72 games, they had increased their division lead to 10 and it never dropped below double digits again that season.
In the next 18 games over 16 days, the Mets have 16 division games: 7 against Atlanta, 4 against Philadelphia, and 5 against Washington... could be a pivotal stretch!
Only concern I have is these DHs, but luckily 7 inning games. Fortunately, Lucchesi is pitching better and hopefully Peterson continues pitching well. If they have to cobble together something for the DH, they have the bullpen depth to help
