Seahawks' Jamal Adams expected to be minicamp holdout as he

seeks contract extension, per report.

Seattle has to extend him. They traded a ton for him.

I assume that he will be the highest paid safety, which would put him over 16 mil per year?

Quote:

He and the Seahawks reportedly agreed to table any talks of a potential extension during the trade that that sent safety Bradley McDougald, a 2021 first-round, a 2021 third-round pick and a 2022 first-round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for Adams and a 2022 fourth-round pick.

Time to pay up Seattle....

Great player

Seems like a head case though….
I really can't stand this guy.

this was always going to be the case

great player but likely not worth the headache for them long term. And all that money should probably be focused on the OL but there's no one to spend it on. Quite the pickle for Seattle.
And we thought DG was bad

Not signing Williams when he gave up a 3 and a 5. This Adams thing could get ugly.
Disastrous trade
JB_in_DC : 6/16/2021 8:31 am : link
for a diva box safety, great player though he may be. Good for the Jets squeezing two ones out of that situation.

Was awful at the time, and even worse now that he's holding out.

A great safety by any means, but definitely an asset to a defense.

I still wouldn't pay him what he feels he's worth.
never trade for a diva asshole

Naa, he's a great player, no reason to diminish that. The question is when is the rest of it override his play?
What a year for the Seahawks

Russell Wilson wants to be traded, but only if Seattle is willing to trade him.

Now after 1 year,Jamal Adams wants to get married.
He's a great player
Jay on the Island : 6/16/2021 11:23 am : link
but not someone I would love to have in my locker room.
Not sure
allstarjim : 6/16/2021 11:53 am : link
Why he's taking so much heat here.

He's entering his 5th year option year. He has no security beyond this season. Why wouldn't he want to fight to get a deal done now? The Srahawks made a big investment in him in terms of picks, that should signal they want him around for awhile. So get a deal done.
You need All Pro/Pro Bowl-type players to win in this league...

But if they're the kind that force trades and hold out, I'd just as soon take a bounty of draft picks in return for them. If I were a Jets fan, I'd be happy with that trade.

He's a beast rushing the QB. But you going to be worried about him down the field in coverage? He wants top dollar.
Safety position has the biggest gap between..

He's a playmaker playing on a pretty weak defense so what he isn't great at will look worse. I'd take him in a heartbeat (though I wouldn't trade two 1sts + a massive contract for him).

Paying top dollar for a safety on its own doesn't bother me. Its a fairly cheap position and his production there more than pays for itself. Its the picks that are the issue but what's done is done for Seattle.
